food: good. service: not good. would not recommend.. we visited tonight, 5/30. we booked an 8pm reservation because when we called a few days earlier 7:30 was not available. however, when we arrived at 7:45, more than half the restaurant was empty. i am not complaining, i just found it odd that they could not take us earlier when they obviously were far from full.

we were seated almost midway along the north wall to the right of the entrance. in summary, this place is nothing to write home about. the food was good; the service was mediocre to downright poor at moments. it started with the host, where all great dining experiences are supposed to begin. the host seemed completely uninterested in our arrival - no greeting, no words uttered, no expression, nothing - uninterested that is until the young women next to us showed up. then he seemed pretty engaged - with them anyway. oh, he did quickly but silently grab up our credit card at the end of the meal, so i guess he was at least a little attentive.

our waitress was good, but we sat for a fair bit of time before she came around. it was obvious she was a little embarrassed that nobody had acknowledged us. the waiter (apparently no dedicated wait staff, which is fine) was okay but not great. he didn't say much or offer any explanation about anything unless we asked.

with the exception of the woman that helped wait on us and a few of the polite kitchen staff (they were the highlights), we were pretty much ignored throughout dinner. this was surprising considering the host that took our reservation had made a big deal over the fact i mentioned we were coming there for our anniversary. as someone that has traveled extensively and experienced fine dining in a lot of places, this was not 'it'. too bad we chose this place for our anniversary.

the food was very good, but the overall experience at a place like this should be asgoodor better and it wasn't. i do not plan to visit again and would not recommend to others looking for a service-oriented experience. there are too many othergoodchoices around town with several within walking distance of this place.

very loud dining space in back, seated at very end of restaurant closet to kitchen next to a wall with crowded elbow space and i'm not a big person, felt like zero atmosphere, disappointing since was for anniversary. ask for front of restaurant when making reservations! otherwise you may feel herded in when they're busy.

the bread came out quickly and was good, but they never offered to give us more. the deviled eggs arrived with pieces of paper napkins stuck to the bottom. had to peel little bits of paper off the bottom to eat! so, paying $150 for the three-course meal for two for valentine's day and it starts like that?  also, hated the taste of the deviled eggs.

the green tomato and bacon salad first course was better but not that crazy great. there was a very long lull between the first course and second course. the trout was  good, and the only thing i ate most of and didn't get tired of before the end. another really long lull before the dessert arrived. had the chocolate fudge with peanut butter gelato. got tired of it and i'm a dessert person.

avoid on valentine's day. (plus, you have to pre-pay for the entire thing including tip a week before.)  the take-home dinstuhl's strawberries were agoodtouch though and they did make some effort to decorate the tables.

the server kept the water glasses full, but didn't offer coffee at the end. he did offer plenty of suggestions though. maybe this is just a curse of valentine's day and it's normally better. i'm not sure, but it felt a bit pretentious for the level of food you actually get. and, fellow diners, keep your voices down. this isn't a shouting match.

disappointed. i will have to say i had high hopes for this visit, but those soon turned to disappointment. the overall service from the staff was ok, and our waiter did agoodjob taking care of us. my wife and i are not food experts by any stretch but the overall quality of the food is what left us feeling a bit underwhelmed. we don't mind paying $$$ prices forgoodfood, but overall i would give our food a mediocre rating at best. we started with the 'gulf oysters of love" and although they were great it unfortunately went downhill from there. i had the turtle soup which was very bland and a bit cold. my wife had the scallops and said they were just ok....i had the rib eye and it was probably the biggest disappointment of the night. it was a very fatty and tough cut. the sauce over the top totally covered the plate and in my opinion took away from any flavor the steak might have had. hate to say we will likely not be returning and i really looked forward to eating there.

the food wasgoodbut the front of the house needs to get their act together. my experience started with my attempt to make a reservation. on their website they request that you email so, i sent an email with the date and time i would like to eat. after 3 attempts the person handling the reservations got the correct date. when we arrived for dinner, our table was not ready despite the fact that there were several empty tables. we waited at the bar for 35 min. when we were seated we waited 25 min to get our drinks and an additional 20 to even order. after ordering and eating our appetizer, we were informed that 1 of the items a person in our party ordered was no longer available. we had to go through the ordering process again. while all this is going, i order wine. the waiter brings back the wine list to confirm the bottle that i wanted because they had 2 from the same vintner. even after he confirms which bottle i wanted, the waiter brings the wrong bottle. when get our check, the waiter had charged us for the entrée that they were out of in addition to replacement and the more expensive bottle of wine which i specifically told him i did not want. the food wasgoodbut not worth all of this hassle. i will not be returning. i will spend my money at iris, erling's or andrewmichael.

i have enjoyedgoodfood andgoodservice over the years at this restaurant; however, this past weekend was one of the worst service experiences i have ever endured. our entrees never even made it to our table before we were forced to leave the restaurant in order to make it to our curtain on time. despite repeated pleas to the staff we had to leave with empty stomachs ( except for the delicious eggs). unfortunately this restaurant has dropped off our list with so many other delicious choices in the downtown memphis restaurant scene where service is consistent

awful service, less than mediocre food.. dear public,

i'm writing to describe one of the most disappointing dining experiences i've had in recent memory. i together with my father and a friend went to felecia suzanne's with high expectations. i have been living in memphis for 4 years and since moving here, my father had suggested that we should dine at fss, partially bc he had known her from when she was a child and had been a close friend to her parents in jonesborro, ar many years before. finally, after four years of talking about it, we finally got a chance when we could all be together to eat dinner at fss. you see my father works overseas and is seldom in the us, so finally we were going to get to meet felecia and enjoy a nice dining experience. unfortunately, the experience was a nightmare. the service was lousy (to put it nicely). because, i knew my father was anticipating this dinner, i called early in the day to make reservations, i requested that we meet felecia to the maitre'd, they said it was no problem. throughout the night this theme became the consistency, they'd say they'd do something for you, and when it was time for them to do it, no one would follow through. felecia was visible to us, yet not wanting to be rude we requested our waiter a second time if he could mention to her that we were now there and that we'd like to say hello. that message never made it to felecia. felecia spoke with another group, our table was ignored. soon our waiter started to ignore us, it took more than a half hour before they took our order. they brought us the pre-meal palet appetizers to the table before they even took our order. i made eye contact with the waiter on three separate occassions to say we are ready to make our order and yet he managed to avoid us at all costs. there were three of us at the table we ordered a bottle of wine and were brought 2 wine glasses, we requested another wine glass and waited another 30 minutes to receive it, in between that 30 minutes of waiting for the wine glass we had to ask the bus boy to get us one, it was another 10 minutes after that that we received the wine glass, mind you our table was less than 10 feet from the bar where the wine glasses originated. later my father ordered a martini, again another 20 minute wait. as i tell you this, you may be thinking wow it must have been super busy. absolutely not, we were one of the first to arrive for dinner, and only 7-8 tables were occupied (on a tuesday night). again we made repeated requests to meet felecia, even the manager took note of it and said that he'd make sure that felecia said hello to us. this never happened. finally, we got our food. at this point the evening was not salvageable, the food really wasnt that good. i got the colorado lamb chops, for 33$ and i assume all 33$ were for the meat and potatoes bc zero of it was for the service, it was fair, im not going to rip everything about the restaurant and say it was all bad, but for 33$ a plate, its supposed to tastegoodand feelgoodwhile you are in the restaurant. it did not. my father had a fish dish, pecan crusted fish, mediocre at best. my friend had the chiriso scallops, again they were okay, but not 25$ + okay. by the end of the night, when it was finally time to tell the waiter that the service was unacceptibly poor, were were not met with apologies on how to make it better, we were met with confrontation. as i tell you this, i do want you to keep it in mind that although my father had not seen felecia in more than 20 years, he knew her parents well and considered them to be family friends. the sting of the $250 bill is not what pushed my father of the edge. he could afford to eat there every day for the rest of his retirement and have money left over for us to eat there until we retire. the sting of the $250 meal was attached to the service and lack of respect or lack of decency that one might give to a complete stranger or perhaps an old friend.

i honestly feel bad for my father, he had such high expectations for our dinner tonight, we've literally been talking about going there for 4 years. i could see a sense of pride in his eys, some excitement that this lady from a small town in arkansas had made it big in memphis. he bragged on and on how great of a chef she was from a childhood age, that her mother suzanne (his personal friend) who was also a great cook...i could see him welling up with pride for this woman whom id only met as an infant. .....and then to get piss pour service, followed by mediocre food at $$$ prices, what a huge disappointment..... and when just when you thought it couldnt get worse, it did. on our long drive back to collierville, tn i received a phone call from felecia, this the first attempt of her to reach out and say hello. i didnt pick up bc i was driving, but it was obvious that by the message she left that her intent wasnt to apologize, it was her reaching out to tell us we were not welcome to come back. upon arriving home, we called felecia, and when my father asked if he could say something, while she yelled at him, she said no, and proceeded to curse him while he attempted to offer some clarity on the situation. needless to say, this was a bridge burning event. if felecia had bothered to come out to her floor to say hello she might have seen that her service was extremely slow, not for lack of people there were plenty. when you put your name on a restaurant, everyone in the restaurant should act as if they are felecia suzanne themselves. and by the phone call she had with my father, i guess they do.

so in closing i'll say this. the food is mediocre at best, and and very pricey. the service sucks. mcdonalds has a far better value. felecia would be doing herself a huge favor if she'd truly listen to customer complaints and not take the word of her staff over the customer experience.

this review is based on the experience i had with my loved ones at fss. i will not be returning, and i do not recommend you too.

my father paid for the dinner, they said they'd cover the cost. he refused. it was never about the money. but when you do pay for 5 star you expect 5 star. felecia's phone call to further add insult to injury really really was shocking and completely unacceptible.

felicia suzanne's was my last stop for downtown dining week , a great grand finale to celebrate the week of my dining extravaganza. i have had heard nothing but fabulous reviews on felicia suzanne's, so i was uber excited to try it out. we got there around 8:45 pm and the place was absolutely packed. (side note: i made reservations 1 1/2 weeks prior, and all they had left was 5pm and 9pm. shows how much in demand this place is.) there wasgoodmusic flowing from the live jazz band and a festive atmosphere that filled the place. we headed to the bar to get a drink and wait on our table. we were sat pretty quickly. our server, a very nice and polite guy , greeted us quickly. i like how he had the formality of the restaurant in him, but at the same time you could tell he was relaxed and easy going. nothing was forced about it, which i find in a lot of fine dining experiences. basically, he didn't make me uncomfortable like some servers in fine dining can do. (i still have no idea what to

great food...but.. was in memphis for one evening and picked felicia suzanne's based on reviews i saw on urbanspoon. the food was verygoodbut the service was extremely slow. there was a small party at the bar but the rest of the restaurant was maybe half full so the slow service was not warranted. are you reading this review felicia suzzane's? take care of the service and you have a winner but if i come back to memphis i'll try flight!!

great memphis spot. fantastic food. i went a few weeks ago with my family and all of us were considering licking our plates at the end of the meal. the service was super slow, but the chef realized this and sent over a surprise oyster amuse-bouche to make up for it. i had the shrimp and grits which were awesome. possibly the best i have ever had.

my only other complaint is the wine list. they have a fantastic wine list, but no selection of wines by the glass. we had to ask our server and he listed off a few bottles he had that were just open. no description, just "um, we have a pinot grigio and a chardonnay." i'm a young foodie, sogoodwines by the glass are a must for me.

totally satisfied. located on the trolley line, but in a nice quaint part that invites a stroll. i've still yet to sit on the patio, but it looks like a great atmosphere in which to dine, although the interior is pretty nice in it's own regard. wait staff was a two server team, which is always preferable and they were very friendly and attentive. not terribly hungry i skipped the salad although my wife had the half sized version of the blfgt salad and raved about it. for my entree, i had the neola farms black angus beef rib-eye steak cooked medium rare and thouroghly enjoyed the bourbon, tasso ham au poivre sauce even though i'm usually sketchy about topping my steak with anything other certain spices, but i was floored. it's an amzing place withgoodservice and excellent food. my one small tiny complaint would be more craft beer selection. i would have thoroughly enjoyed a belgian style quad with that steak, but i settled for the sierra nevada pale. but from a cost perspective from the owners and a lack of agoodbeer scene from memphis, it's easy to understand why. this place receives my highest recommendation for the memphis area.
