notbadfor a crab shack in the woods. fat boy's isn't in the typical location for a maryland crab shack. no docks or open water around! i felt like i was on a picnic in the forest when i ate on their spacious back deck amongst the trees. it was a pleasant scene, but i was mainly there for the food. a highlight of any trip to this part of the u.s. is eating blue crabs, which i consider the best of their kind in the world. i ordered fat boys' larger cabcake (8 oz) for $17.95 with “boardwalk fries” ( the thicker ones). it was overpriced for what it was, but the crab was good. there was a decent amount of meat, not overmuch filler. the fries were only so-so -- i should have gone for a thinner variety that would be crisper. the cup of crab chowder i had stands out in my memory better -- nice thick base, lots of crab meat piled on top. there's a 70s feel to the place, real redneck roadhousey but not in a "hostile to outsiders" way.
