lizzie's first impression: this place is conveniently opened in the hearts of the cbd, but i would recommend booking in advance especially on a friday or sat night.

lizzie enjoyed: the stand out dish were the side mac n cheese and fries! the meats came out really quickly and were smoked really well, especially the pulled pork and beef brisket. the pickled onions given on the side were also a good idea.

lizzie didn't enjoy: although the ribs were very tasty, they were cooked a little more on the dry side. the sauce that was given for the beef brisket was a little odd.

lizzierates: a great place for big groups to share the meats, but given that the place is known for smoked meats, i'd expect them to be spot on.

pretty average for a place that specializes in bbq meat...the beef brisket was very dry. the service was good though and the prices are reasonable for sharing food.

went their for a birthday dinner, one of the best dinner's we have ever had. different options to choose from regarding meat and sides. we didn't choose the feed me option this time, but next time we'd love to try it. the sides match the mains in regards to deliciousness. can't wait till we come back.

nothing about this restaurant really stood out as being very good. the brisket was cold, the chicken was a quite flavourless even with the gravy sauce, the fried cauliflower was a bit blah and the beans were mediocre. the corn bread with jalapeño butter was the only memorable item. service was mediocre too, not up to melbourne standards

if you find yourself with an iron deficiency this is the place to be. i didn't see one leaf, one vegetable or one waiter. the lack of non meat foods was our onus. the pork was lovely but the brisket rocked. i could still smell the smokey vibes on my clothes the next day. great place for a meat, meat and wine night.

macaroni and cheese is a must order. one of a kind. macaroni with salty dehydrated olive and mushroom topped with crushed cheezal.

so, i’ve discovered that my brother isn’t the best dining buddy - he’s not much of a small talker. but i have found, that i actually kind of really love american bbq. i’ve always enjoyed it, but now that i’ve had some really good brisket, i’ve realised how much i like it, crave it and actually appreciate it.

got dragged here with some friends. ok food, but over priced and over hyped. wouldn't bother visiting again.................................

came here as a party of 8 on sunday at 7pm, they told us they only had one rack of ribs left so we ordered it straight away. service was great however food was average. brisket was cold and a bit tough and had no flavour, pulled pork was a bit too mushy and barely warm, but the chicken wasn't bad and the ribs had good smoky flavour. the side dishes of fries and mac n cheese were great however the meat was a disappointment especially the brisket, don't see myself returning.

this is my top vote for best american bbq restaurant in the whole of melbourne. from the slow cooked meats, to the biscuits, to the mac & cheese, to the cornbread and fries, and the drinks, i love everything about this place. the service is good, the atmosphere is vibrant, the aromas are to die for. get a group of friends and book a table, you'll have a blast.

the old fancy hanks at the meercat opp queen vic used to be a local afterwork feed for me, since i've moved offices and since they've moved to bourke street to a larger venue i had yet to try the new menu.

went for dinner on saturday night and the first thing as you walked up the stairs was this alluring smell of smoke wafting down, yo me that spells a good time.

cos we went in for a late dinner a few of the menu items had sold out, namely the ribs and sausage links which i was very keen to have but none the less what we had was great, the beef brisket was nice and smokey, the pulled pork was juicy, we got the maple smoked pork belly and felt there just wasn't enough (more cos i could eat that all fay) and finally the mac n cheese just overflowing on the bowl.

it is well worth the visit, i'd happily return for the ribs and sausage links as i need to try these !!

had a group lunch here and everyone seemed happy with their meal. they have a good beer and wine list to choose from. the romaine salad was very good. pork ribs, sausage, beef brisket and fries to share - no complaints. the service is friendly and they can split bills.

details: special mention to the young, sweet blonde waitress!! (yes i should have remembered her name) but she was so welcoming to my parents and myself, answered all our questions and gave us a happy smile ✔✔ the food here is alright, not amazing but definitely would return. my favourite was the ribs. the texture of them and sauce was beautiful. the brisket was very fatty unfortunately and chicken a tad dry (but we still finished all of it so it couldn't be too bad). nice meal with a glass of red!

venue: the venue reminds me of an american big meats diner ! love restaurants with designs that suit the theme.

loooooooove every single bite to eat here. the brisket is everything, but honestly you can't go wrong at this place. the bar upstairs is great but on the small side so can't always count on a good spot. my only negative is i miss fancy hanks by qv market - it still remains one of my favorite melbourne joints. nothing can beat the atmosphere there :(
