epic is unquestionably the best restaurant incolumbusand one of the better restaurants i've eaten anywhere. that being said, on this occasion we found a couple of things that could have been improved upon. my wife ordered the 'study of mushrooms' for her appetizer. it was amazing, but they forgot the ravioli. they rectified the error by bringing us each a small bite version of the same appetizer with the ravioli. i had the sous vide octopus and it was perfect, although the portion was a little large. that style of cooking can be overdone, but in this case it's perfect. the octopus was creamy with just the right amount of texture and was perfectly complimented by the sauce. for our main courses, i had a brand new item, the tempura lobster with hot smoked salmon and my wife had the sea bass. both dishes came out cold. we complained, but insisted that they just heat it up as it looked too good to waste. the end result was worth the wait. my wife's sea bass had a sweet glaze that was perfectly complimented by the glass of vouvray recommended by the sommelier and my lobster and salmon contrasted nicely with each other. for the evening, my only complaint is that the portions were rather large and we didn't have room for dessert. i did, however, finish with a cappuccino and it was excellent. it will remain our special night out in columbus.
