indifferent and bland tasting food. so we went to elsa's after reading all the great reviews and came away very disappointed



we tried the meat combo - food was really bland, all thedishestasted and looked the same - vague looking meat under an unappetizing looking sauce

some of the best ethiopian i have had, certainly much better than others in kansas city. elsa make gluten free injera, as well! some of thedishescan get pretty spicy, so if you don't like heat and ethiopian is new for you, ask for help ordering. the family that owns/runs this restaurant are friendly and accommodating. great food, great prices!

yummy. this was my first time trying ethiopian food and i will say it was delicious! we had the lamb and the tilapia dish both very good. the sidedishessmall but very good we had the cabbage, red lentils and green lentils yummy! the injeri bread was different but actually better then i thought it would be. we also ordered the soup which was delicious and more like a stew, also had their version of samosa. that i did not care for that much, the wrapper was more like a wonton then the more doughy indian version.

eating with our hands was fun a little messy, the waiter and the owner elsa were both very sweet and asked how we liked the food. we will definetly be back!

so my girlfriend and i were feeling adventurous last night and decided to try elsa's. needless to say, we did not have a very good experience. we have hysterically been laughing at how this place is rated at 94% and how other reviews have called it a must try. part of us feels like we were expecting too much out of ethiopian cuisine, but the pricing of this restaurant is a joke. the meal was 30.00 and the ambience of the restaurant is not "nice" as others have stated. it looks very cheap. i wouldn't have nearly as many negative things to say about this place if thedisheswere reasonably priced for what you got.. but the portions are small and simply not that good. i feel like a spoiled american writing this review, but hopefully someone else trust me and goes elsewhere.

love this!. nice little restaurant with flawless, delicious ethiopian food. i ordered severaldishesto go and while i waited i met the friendly owner. huge portions of well seasoned and spicy meats served with delicious sides. try the red lentils-spicy! great food at a reasonable price. i will be back. even though it's about a 30 minute drive for me.
