el toro bravo

if they had better chips, it might be very good. service is fair.

food was delicious (though a bit more pricey than expected running about $12-15 a dinner entree). the waiter got my order completely wrong, but what they ended up giving me was so tasty i ate the entire thing!

asked for more chips three times. they did not bring them. tried to do 20% gratuity automatically even though it was a party of less than 6 people. had 3 different waiters within the night. terrible service do not recommend.

i tried ordering for lunch with my co-workers and was shocked that the web site menu prices were increased by upwards of $3 when i called the order in.  i informed them of the website prices and they did not budge. i asked them if they would grant me the prices provided on the website and he politely said thanks for calling, good bye.

came here on a sunday night, fairly quiet but wonderful service. our server was friendly and upbeat, food was wonderful. will be going back plenty of times this summer!

disappointed. i normally d.... disappointed.
i normally don't do mexican but this place came highly recommended. i dint know why. the margarita was all mix, had to send it back. the vegiterian a dinner was also a disappointment. the re fried beans used in the recipe were more like a watery paste. the enchilada tasted like a frozen dinner warmed up in the micro wave.
don't think i'll return.

el toro bravo caters to families while still serving pretty authentic mexican food. i have to say, the carnitas at el toro bravo were godly. unlike other places, they took the time to fry the chunks of pork well enough to give them a crispy exterior. they also included two thick, pickled jalapeno peppers which, when added to the carnitas , gave it a little zing. i ordered a churro at the latin quarter earlier in the week and was somewhat disappointed with it. to make up for it, i ordered one at el toro bravo and was pleasantly surprised. it came out warm and chewy and absolutely delicious. i also give them props for not including warm chocolate sauce. am i the only one that thinks churros and chocolate don’t go together at all? it’s like drinking orange juice while eating apple pie. dissapointing. hadn't been there in years and grabbed lunch recently w/ a friend. ordered fajitas, avg is a compliment @ $16. huge portion and only two tortillas, requested add'l tortillas, shredded cheese and sour cream to supplement the tiny portion they presented. they charged us an add'l $6.75 for the side items that should be served w/ their fajitas. smart a** waiter made it worse when i asked what was up. hadn't stiffed a server in my life and was very close to it. grudgingly left 15% and will never go back to the place.

ok, not great. it's fine, but very much like dozens of other mexican restaurants all over the country. based on the other reviews i expected it to be great. instead, i thought it was just ok. not terrible, but nothing special.

chori pollo is the best ever!!! plus, the tequila shot was very generous!

delicious, fast, good enough. i love el toro bravo ... it's 10x better than any chain mexican restaurant. it's not the cleanest joint, but that adds to the appeal. it's fast. it's affordable (though the prices have gone up recently), and it's food that will fill you up and allow you to leave smiling. it's definitely worth the stop. and there's no better place in annapolis ... do not be misguided by that.

been here quite a few times. almost always double wait time from what you're told. food is decent but nothing spectacular. drinks are heavily marked up, $14 for two light beers. go elsewhere, i will.

lunch fast... mexicali style. good price for "speeedy" mexican lunch.
nothing to rave about...

keep on walking. drinks are grossly overpriced even by west street standards. the food is flavorless and does not come anywhere close to either good mexican food, good tex-mex, or good cali-mex. there is some good authentic latin food to be found in the area (primarily salvadoran), and you'd be better served to find one of those spots.

$6 beers (coronas btw)? do you need anything else to scare you away?
