the food isgoodbut. lacking in salt, went here for my mothers birthday and ordered about $90 worth of food since all four of us had appetizers, the chef came out to check on us which was a nice touch but we/i haven't been back since, personally i do not like to add salt after my food has been cooked. the ceviche was too citrus-ey nobody at the table liked it and the fresh juices are something different to try.

excellent service. four of us recently dined at el porton for the first time. i wasn't sure what to expect but my friend indicated that she had heard great things. i started with the chicken and avocado arepa. it seemed to be missing the avocado but was still very tasty! towards the end of the meal i mentioned to our waiter (finding out later that he is the owner, jose) that i needed to come back and try the empanadas. he asked that we wait and he came right out with a couple of them for the four of us to try. they were verygoodas well. love that the menu items are homemade and made fresh. the live music was also a plus. thank you jose.

i lived in colombia for a year and i liked eating at a place withgoodlatin music and food. however, the service is really poor. our server wrote nothing down and then messed up our order twice. then each time we told her she argued and told us we'd made the mistake. she actually asked my wife to scrape the meat out of her arepa and they'd fill it with another kind of meat. then the manager brought out the replacement arepa and gave us more attitude. we won't go back.  the food is good, but not worth the awkwardness of the service.

ate here twice this week. i came with my neighbor on wedneday and had the lunch special chicken sandwich. marvelous! my wife was jealous so i took her there saturday. she wheat intolerant so she likes white corn "pitas". i had a cubano sandwich with sweet potato fries. consistentlygoodfood.

my wife and i had a late lunch here. the food was excellent. very unique for a midwesterner. service was friendly and quick. we will be back.

great lunch option. fantastic food for agoodprice. a friend and i went here on our lunch hour, as our company had just moved we are looking for new favorite places to eat. we came across the reviews on here about el porton cafe and decided since it was close we should try it. now i can only speak for myself, but we were greeted in a timely manner, our orders were taken quickly, and our food arrived fast. i ordered the ceviche combo. very good! i only ate 1/2 of the arepa as there was alot of food on the plate. i think next time i will do just an arepa and then a cup of soup so i am not overly stuffed and can still be producticve at work. this will most likely become one of my go to options in the area.

my favorite restaurant. this is my favorite restaurant!!! i would rather eat here than anywhere else. the chicken empanadas are delicious and the citrus salsa is wonderful. i almost passed out when i first tasted the tres leches dessert, it was so delicious!!! this food is very delicious and i enjoy eating there. the service is also verygoodand there is a server there that looks american but speaks fluent spanish, anyways, she is an excellent asset to the restaurant.

it was off the beaten path for us we are headed back to texas from iowa and i'm glad we took a chance. the cafe is small but has some very interesting art pieces on the walls. the service was great and the food was very good. it was the best south americangoodwe have had in quite awhile. the food in austin or dallas can not compare. the next time we are in the area we will stop in to enjoy agoodmeal.

you know the food isgoodwhen the table next to you is occupied by an older cuban couple who have nothing but praise for the owner and the menu. we had the pork sandwich, the steak sandwich and shared the flan. loved it! we can't wait to return again soon.
