best bbq we've had in quite awhile. establishment was clean, service was polite and prompt, staff was friendly. sauce was plain old sweet baby rays, but the pork was moist and flavorful, the fried cornbread was delicious, and the spicy baked beans were unforgettable.

great q in nashpatch. stopped to eat lunch in nashville with my brother who lives there and he thought i'd like edley's. he was right. the sauce is pretty good and the white sauce (mainly for wings) is stellar. i had a chicken bbq plate. the slaw is vinegar-based and an excellent recipe. i tried the brunswick stew as a side and it had all the meats in it that i missed ordering the chicken--it was exceptionally good--smoky, tomato-y, and an overcast of vinegar. i was impressed. however, they were training new cashiers that day and i was amazed that when the lunchtime folk were lined out the door, they didn't step up and take charge. my brother got back in line to get some more side to go with my left-over (huge portions) chicken and we were there as long for him to get those sides as it was for us to originally order and eat lunch. my brother bragged on their wings--he said the white sauce is good on them. i used it on my chicken along with the traditional sauce and it was great. the white sauce is mostly mayo thinned with vinegar. there has to be something else in there---it's too good to just be that!

went there after reading the reviews on here an they didn't let me down. we split the nachos and both got a sandwich with sides and had a little left to go. the place started getting busy around 7 and people were standing waiting for a table, glad i got there early. that could have been a fluke, it was a wednesday. i would go again, and again, and again.

this bar-b-que far exceeded our expectations. we set out to have some good southern bar-b-que. what we found was beyond fabulous barb-que. these pennsylvanians will recommed to all friends/family who intend to visit nashville!

excellent barbecue. they could improve by giving bigger sides. the sides are good they just are served in a little cup and aren't enough.

try the bbq nachos. and the brisket sandwich. and everything else. the food is really good, though you should ask for the nachos sans a million lil chunks of red onion. then again, i'm of the "onions-stay-the-f-outta-my-food" mentality. the restaurant itself is nicely designed and has a great back porch that i'm sure will be filled all summer. the beer is priced about $1-1.50 too high and it would be much appreciated if you didn't have to line up at the bar to get every drink.

nashville restaurants and food edley's bar-b-que 2706 12th avenue south nashville 615-953-2951 www.edleysbbq.com edley's bar-b-que is off to a smoky good start. the crowds are flocking to the new 12 south restaurant and for one primary reason: these folks know their meat. take a bite of the brisket: smoky and tender with just a little fat and bit of charred rub for flavor. paired with a grilled, toasty bun, mild, tangy sauce and a pickle and you have a truly excellent sandwich. the brisket test is important- so many places abuse the cut by overcooking and drying it out. launch into the pulled chicken and you have another winning combo. this time the smoky (thanks to white oak) and moist chicken is accompanied by a flavorful white sauce. the minced pulled pork also proves to be smoky and juicy. my dining companion ben pronounces the catfish to be thickly bread, crunchy and tasty. there isn't a slouch in the bunch. right now they're only doing ribs at dinner and that will call for a retu

the "tucks special" is special. i'm a bbq snob having grown up near the mecca of big bob gibson's. i've been to edleys twice now and have loved both visits. the "tucks special" featuring a beef brisket sandwich with fried egg, jalapeno pimento cheese and white/red bbq sauces is an explosion in your mouth. so many great flavors come bursting in.

they have fantastic fries but don't offer them as a side (something they should rethink). you have to order an entire basket, probably enough for 2-3 people easily. it would be nice if they offered a 1/2 basket since a basket is $3.75.

good atmosphere, but that's about it. i came with some friends on a friday evening. we expected it to be busy, so that didn't bother us. however, we ordered our food, and the server came back 20 minutes later to tell us they were out of turkey (3 of us in the group had ordered that) we changed our order, and waited another 30 minutes for our food to come out. when it did, i didn't get mine...and had to wait longer for them to bring mine out. when it finally did, it was missing a side. i finally asked for it when i was done just so i could take it with me. overall, not very impressed with the food and def. not impressed with the service.

i would only go back to drink on the patio and forgo eating.

finally something good. edleys is a definite not to miss place and a great addition to the 12 south food scene. first off know that it is not a traditional sit down, get waited on restaurant like most in the area. you order from the front counter and the food is brought to your table. this isn't a problem just surprised us at first. the food is great. i had the pork sandwich and it was generously piled on with great flavor. the sides were simple and complimented the food well. finally the service is what really sold us. every single person was friendly, ready to help, and made the experience a memorable one. great place to grab a bite to eat and some of the best bbq nashville has to offer. get there early as the line can get long and enjoy!
