a large group of us went to ecco mid day on a saturday. they were serving their brunch menu which they serve on weekends until 2pm. everyone in our group seemed to order something a little bit different but everyone was very pleased. portion sizes were somewhere between small and medium. i am happy to return at some point and try their dinner menu.

the menu has a good variety and flavorful sounding dishes. the pizza stood out to me.   sausage pizza – crushed san marzano tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, caramelized onions, olives, oregano (san marzano tomatoes have a thinner skin and originated in the america, making their way from peru to naples.)  pointeviven.blogspot.com/2014/06/ecco-review-gilad-ganish-jesse-bluma.html

we both really liked our time at ecco. we look forward to coming back again soon and trying more of their menu, including their neapolitan pizzas, with ingredients sourced directly from italy. their menu is always changing with the seasons, so we look forward to what executive chef carlos abarca has in store for us on future visits. the service was a little spotty for us on this busy night. our waiter took awhile to check on us, but the food made it out in a timely manner. ecco was a great place to have our last meal of the year.

i have always passed by ecco whenever i'm walking around the camp , constantly peering at the menus displayed on stands right outside the door. everything always sounded delicious but rarely did i pass by with the intention to eat anywhere. however, i got the chance to finally try out this place which had always looked so appealing once it was orange county restaurant week . so, yesterday, after spending quite a time looking for parking, i had lunch there with the awesome ladies of moxxe pr . as tempting as it looks from the outside, you don't really get the vibe of the place until you take a step inside and check out the wooden, cozy feel that they are able to portray despite having a wall of ceiling-to-floor windows. brightly lit yet intimate, it reminded me of some restaurants i had been to in italy and with good reason - its cuisine is italian. i've known the word "ecco" to be an exclamation of "here!" in an excited, joyous way, a "check this out!" or a "behold!" way too noisy. went to this restaurant last night. it was a party of 6. noise level so high that you couldn't even talk with the person sitting next to you. food was mediocre at best. we had the margarita pizza, and they barely put cheese on it. you tasted the crust and that's it. when we got the bill, they added on an automatic 20% gratuity and the service was mediocre too. who adds gratuity for 6???? really?? i can understand large parties, but 6. c'mon!!! we won't be going back.

wonderful eating experience. we decided to eat here due to proximity to orange county performing arts. i loved the decor and vibe of the place. the waiter was attentive and engaging, and had opinions on different specials. i love when they actually have an opinion instead of "everything's good here". i had the rib eye special that was seasoned and cooked perfectly. my wife choose the salmon special which was also delicious. i highly recommend eating here. the only negative i have is the parking, which can be a little scarce..

almost-paper thin pasta in a what i call a tease of bolognese sauce. a tease? anything more would have overwhelmed the pasta – this “tease” was full of flavor! when we were done, i was very tempted to pick it up and lick the bowl!

for my birth­day din­ner this year, we went to the brand-spanking-new ecco in the camp. this one was under con­struc­tion for a while, and we’ve read on chowhound and oc weekly that the pizza here is for­mi­da­ble. deli­cious fancy pizza? my favorite!

ecco is a go - i've already been back a few times.. ecco is a great find tucked away in the back of the camp. the concept is uncomplicated and welcoming - earthy and relaxed but sophisticated. i thought the repurposed old torch lamps were unique and brought the camp feel indoors.

the first time i went to ecco, i was with people who knew what to recommend on the menu. the seasonal guanciale and fig pizza is definitely worth writing about. excellent flavor combination and the wood fired oven added a subtle smoky finish. the butterscotch budino was a highlight. if i had to guess the ingredients: rich butterscotch pudding incorporating some type of liqueur, whipped cream, a touch of sea salt, and a pignoli cookie on top. nobody talks after that is served.

our server was attentive and on point. it was great to enjoy my meal and company without constant check ins and interruption. perfect amount of interaction and hospitality from the staff.
