this was an outing with our office colleagues for dinner. table reservation is recommended as it is an outstanding restaurant and mostly full.
there were 20 of us and we had fixed a set menu @3500 per person with drinks. they have agoodcollection of wines.
the guests comprised of mostly foreigners and they loved the food. from starters to main course to desserts, everything was perfect with favourite being biryani and kebabs.
great service and knowledgeable staff.
must visit.

visited this place for only one dish --- the signature dum pukht biryani and i still remember savoring the dish till the last bit of rice. the aroma, the flavour, the taste - unparalleled.
ambiance superb, staff courteous. overall a verygoodexperience.

the food is just toogoodso is the ambience. the spread is pretty sumptuous. the service is good. the best part is the time they they take from taking your order to it being served.
th biryani is a must have, so are the kebabs. the cutlery is worth a mention owing to the fact that it is silver ware which gives you a royal feel. all in all it is place you can't miss if you like mughalai cuisine.

a point to note is that a reservation well in advance is a must as the place is full irrespective of it being a weekday or a weekend.

well we finally made time to visit the mumbai fine dining place.

the occasion was a birthday and the cake that came along was excellent.

supposed to be silver service, the attention kind of weaned midway, but i would give them the benefit of doubt.

now the food part. no we did not have kakori kebabs. had enough of them in life so wanted to venture into something more exotic.

the raan was great but not excellent. it was like a roast, but the flavours had not seeped in. the cheese and onion stuffing was ok.goodfor the occidental palate but they would not know what they are missing.

the biryani was a must order, and it was fantastic. do not ever miss it.

the khushk purdah, a chicken dish was a delectable one. hot, pineapple , spicy and smooth. the rogni roti and the nan was great.

we were full, so no desserts. the pan was good.

would i go there again. i am in two minds. may be and perhaps maybe not.

dum phukht is a great place to be at. maybe a better place than its exalted cousin peshawari (which i think is a bit noisy and congested). the decor is agoodblend of the contemporary and the artistic. the spaced out seating and the friendly staff is what relaxes you the most. this time there was the ramadan festival food on offer as a fixed menu complete with the dates, haleem, kebabs, sevaiya and the rasmalai. the presentation in a huge dining silver set was very interesting and lavish. the food quite nice and each dish was with its exquisite and unique flavor. surprisingly a restaurant like dum phukth which is so famous for its awadhi cuisine falls short at the galauti kebabs which were not so soft as what you would expect. great place to be in at point in the year and which would for sure never disappoint.

happened to visit dum pukht over the weekend with my family, five of us. as one of us was vegetarian, we asked for a single diner veg. the person there refused for the same, saying that the single diner menu is for single person only if he's visiting alone. later he also added that it is only for in house guests. then we asked for the 'veg nawab experience', which is a four course veg meal. the person attending us refused to that as well saying that it would be too much for one person. when we asked him that it has been designed for a person only and what is the issue, he had no answer. may be they were too lazy to cook four course or whatever. since i was with my family, i ordered a la carte as he suggested without arguing much. but the question is, we pay premium forgoodservice at five stars. and these people are not givinggoodservice. how can they deny what we order. we are paying you for the kind of service you guys give. something not expected from itc.
coming to food, the dum pukht biryani was fantastic, but subs biryani was a disappointment. also the kebabs were good.
all in all, not the kind of experience we had expected.

we visited dum pukht on a saturday for a celebratory lunch on my birthday and the experience was absolutely royal.
the ambience, the furniture, the music, the cutlery all provide you with the feeling of royalty.
the staff at the restaurant ensure they strictly follow the covid safety norms and their service is exemplary right from the start to the end.
we were attended to by a steward who was very helpful in suggesting to us the restaurants signature dishes and also wanted to ensure we had the best experience with regard to their food.
on their menu, they have a ‘single diner menu’ and my advice would be to most definitely opt for this one. this menu includes all their best dishes and is absolutely and totally worth the cost.
since it was 2 of us at the table, we got to try more variety.
here is what we had;
starters:
1. dum pukht kakori- a very soft mutton seekh kebab loaded with fine spices and packed with flavour.this kebab literally just melts in your mouth.
2. seekh gilafi dum pukht- a tender chicken seekh kebab with a light flavour but not as impressive as the previous.
main course:
1. maash qaliya- an exotic thick buttery dal which tasted a lot like dal makhani.
2. murgh handi quorma- a yoghurt based delicious rich gravy preparation of succulent pieces of chicken.
3. shahi nehari- a delicious mutton gravy preparation with. another verygooddish here.
4. khamiri roti
5. wheat roomali roti
6. dum pukht lamb biryani- a biryani spiced with an amalgamation of the subtle flavours of all your exotic spices. it contained the most tender pieces of mutton on the bone and was an absolute delight to eat.
dessert:
1. kulfi badshah pasand- kulfi with vermicilli
2. zauk e shahi- basically small kala jamuns soaked in rabdi

we had a wonderful time at this restaurant and i would highly recommend it for romantic date or just for those foodies who love trying out exotic food.

i want to start with the amazing interiors and staff of this restaurant. we went for a lunch on a weekday so the place was relatively empty. the ambiance and decor was great, something you would expect from 5 star restaurant. the staff was really courteous and helped us optimise our order. now coming to food, we went with the specialities of this place starting with kakori kebab then moving to mutton biryani and finally having gulab ki kheer. it was meal sufficient for two adults. the kebabs were really well cooked and served along side a small bread of sheer maal. the spices really stood out in each bite of the kebab. personally for me the garam masala was on the higher side but was stillgoodenough for me. next we had mutton biryani which was again really good. the aroma of saffron was very prominent in each bite and the meat fell of the bones very nicely. the raita alongside biryani was another winner. again i would have preferred a little less saffron but it wasgoodnonetheless. finally based on the recommendation from the staff, we had gulab ki kheer which was great. the aroma was great and you could taste the dried rose petals in the kheer which was a unique experience for me. obviously the price is on the higher side since it's in a five star property but the place is meant for special occasions. worth a visit.

dum pukht kakori is out of this world. a delicate melt in mouth kabab of finely minced lamb.
shahi nehari - the lamb was super soft (cooked overnight with aromatic potli masala then assimilate with the extract of basmati in milk and almond paste).
dum pukht biryani - basmati rice simmered with lamb in mace ittar and kewra. you should try this if you happen to visit this place.
now coming to desserts. yes, zauk e shahi wins the race against kulfi. kulfi was delicious too but zauk e shahi (made of khoya dumplings with saffron flavoured reduced milk) was amazing.
all in all agoodexperience!

absolute fine dinning experience...mr anand is verygoodhost and knows how to take care of guests...we planned for ala carte but he suggested to go for set menu which have all what we desired costing around rs. 3675 +taxes...ambiance perfect mughlai feel...itc maratha never disappoints on food even in buffets...their signature dish kakori kabab just melts in mouth (but found just hint of more clove it in)...shahi nihari was perfectly cooked...pick of the dishes were lamb biryani..i think there are very few places in mumbai where you get such amazing awadhi type biryani....in veg dudiya kabab and some daal which was soaked for 24 hrs were excellent...in the end kulfi badshah to complete your meal....overall it was a perfect lunch for the price you pay....will surely visit again...

tried their kakori kebab, the flavour of cloves was so overpowering my mouth went numb and had to take a healthy swig of my wine to clear away the unpleasant taste, the sheermal does somewhat balance out the strong spice but it is too tiny to be adequate... but the lamb biryani changed my mood completely.... it reminded me of the delicious old school biryanis i have tasted in lucknow and went one better. the spices were delicate and well balanced and the flavour of pure ghee was magic. the meat was so soft that despite being on the bone i could cut it with a spoon. the liquor variety wasgood& not overpriced, best of all.... they have wines by the glass. so just for the biryani, liquor and ambience i would give them full marks...took away i mark for the kebab.
