dudley's pizza & tavern

not again. the first experience at dudley's went well. we loved the food and had an amazing server. we went back less than a week later and had the worst service i've ever received at a restaurant. the place was loud and we had to shout the entire time to even hear each other, the waiter forgot a beer order and had to be reminded 3 different times, the waiter filled a diet mountain dew with water and never caught it, our onion rings came out when we were half way through our mediocre pizza and the waiter then forgot another beer and brought it when we were done eating all together.

everything about my experience at this restaurant was fantastic. great service, clean atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff, phenomenal food, and very reasonable prices.

i will definitely be a regular as this is my new favorite restaurant.

fine first visit. i had read the reviews and wasn't sure about this place, but when my wife and i were walking by on the way to the movies at aksarben cinema, we decided to give it a try. they don't have their liquor license yet, though the manager said it should be in place by next monday, in time for the bcs national championship game. they have a beautiful bar and specialize in craft beers selected to accompany their foods, so getting the liquor license should have bring more customers.
i am glad we stopped for dinner. food and service were excellent. my wife wanted hot tea and the waitress came back with different tea selections that she could choose from. we ordered two burgers, the pesto and mushroom, which were both perfectly done. the fries were also just right. i asked for a garlic dipping sauce they offer with the fries, which was also tasty. our waitress was prompt, friendly, and personable. price was right--$25 for dinner for two. when drinks get added, we would spend a bit more. nice new place to eat.

overpriced on pizza. tried two different pies. neither were bad, but size of each was extremely lacking. for the price they should be bigger. the pesto pizza was ok, fairly bland but not horrible. we also tried a large pepperoni, not good balance of sauce and cheese. extremely thin, but not exactly new york style. could be good but no real perceived value here. we probably won't ever be back.

good flavor, decent prices but poor quality. we ordered the wings: 10 wings for 8 bucks - not bad. when the wings finally arrived (at the same time as our meals), they looked great. we bit into the peanut butter and jelly wings and were overwhelmed with crispy black burnt bits of chicken. when we flipped over the chicken wings, they were almost completely blackened on one side. the cooks had realized the poor quality and sent the food out anyway. a man came to our table and introduced himself as a co-owner. he explained that the wings are charred on each side for 30 seconds. he apologized that i had misunderstood the menu. good one. the wings were black on only one side and placed burnt side down on the plate. although the prices are decent, you certainly get what you pay for: decent, low quality food.

will be back. went to dudley's for lunch today. had the presto pesto burger with the truffle romano fries. the burger was very good and had a great charred, grill flavor to it. pesto flavor wasn't overpowering. the fries were also very good. they were crispy and came with a great garlicky dipping sauce. (if you don't like garlic, you won't like the sauce. it's very strong.) i also tried a piece of pizza. it was also very good and the crust was one of the best i've had in omaha. great service also!!!

found our new burger place at a pizza place!. welcome to the neighborhood! warm and welcoming environment, attentive and smiling staff! what more could you ask for? how about a 1⁄2 pound steak burger with a delicious pesto sauce and provolone cheese, or a burger topped with fried pickles! burgers fries and o-rings were amazing! can’t wait to go back for the pizza.

we shall see. four of us arrived about 7pm and were told they did not have a liquor license yet. ok, we can handle that one for sure, however the rest of the evening didn’t get much better. first, even with several open tables we were told we would need to wait as the kitchen was backed up. they did not want us to wait at the table. huh? you want us to stand and wait instead? i explained why that really made no sense and they finally agreed to sit us down. about 5 minutes later the waitress came over and asked what we would like to start. we ordered cheesy breadsticks and truffle fries. we waited about 15 minutes and the appetizers arrived. the truffle fries were not good at all and the cheesy bread had just some sprinkled cheese on it. since we had not yet been given plates we used napkins as plates. after about another 10 minutes or so the waitress asked how we were doing. i asked her if it was possible to get some plates and i also asked why they had really no cheese on the “cheesy bread”. she explained that in fact we got the wrong order and she would put in the right one and get us some plates. she came right back with plates (note: it appears to be the same plates the previous place used.) and they were dirty. the waitress tried to explain they just looked dirty because they were black. we explained that regardless of the color, dirt is dirt. so we just ate off the napkins. we did order two small pizzas and while they are very small, they were good. also, be aware that above the restaurant is a fitness club and you will hear weights dropping above you all night long. sounds like thunder. on the positive side the yet to open bar portion looks like it will be very cool. in addition, they have the best iced tea in aksarben village. i hang out a lot in the area and will be back once the bar area opens, but i doubt i would ever go back to the restaurant side.
