great meat house!. great steak and chops! must visit this place if you're in phx. ruth chris and city hall are great alternatives as well.

service is spot on and sometimes over the top. food is always excellent.this is one of the very few restaurants in the valley that know how to treat a customer and excel at it.

brutal on your birthday. we used to like going to donovans and visited 3-4 x per year, the food was great and the service always was good.
the food has taken a step back and the service is pathetic. first we got seated at the same time as the three other tables adjacent to us and didnt get a drink order for 15 minutes. (bad planning manager, shoulda spread the tables to different servers!). once we were ready to order, the waitress insisted on giving us the same dramatic speech on how wonderful our experience was going to be and we had already heard it at the tables right next to us. the food was average when it finally came 45 minutes later and they forgot the birthday dessert we had pre arranged the week before. the manager on saturdays clearly has no leash to do anything you would see at a fine restaurant when something goes wrong. donovans had a great opportunity to take over the camelback market now that mortons and ruth's chris have closed, but with this kind of product, they wont be far behind those two. back to maestros, flemings or mortons in kierland. donovans is a big zero.

awesome experience. i truly love this place, it is by far the best steak house in phoenix and maybe the best one in the country. my wife and i eat here on special occasions and anniversaries and we have never been disappointed. the service is phenomenal and the food is worth every penny.

horrible experience!. dined there for an anniversary and will never go back! we eat regularly at steakhouses and have eaten at both local steakhouses and chains across the country and this was the absolute worst. there were 7 tables there including us. the service was non existent. other than the horrible service, the food was just as bad. you can eat better food at a hospital cafeteria and that is not an exaggeration. three of us ordered filets, all were ordered to be cooked medium well and came out burnt, charred and dry. the sides lacked flavor and seasoning. they claim they take pride in not charging for sides but the steaks are priced at $60 and up. refills are not included either. to sum it all up.....everything was very disappointing from the service to the food to the restaurant atmosphere itself. please don't waste your money, especially that it will cost well over $150 for a couple.

$20 for the bone. we ordered the 16 oz ribeye and the waiter suggested we get the bone in version "you still get 16 oz of meat, the bone adds flavor". the bill came and he charged us for the $63 24 oz ribeye chop. 8 ounces of bone for $20 a plate. i'm willing sometimes to be overcharged for a steak i can cook at home but i really dont like being hustled. there are too many expensive steak options in phoenix to put up with being overcharged and deceived.

best in the county. after eating at most of the prime steakhouses in the county, donovans has our vote as the best. great steaks, great service, excellent drinks and desserts. nuff said!

great steak and ambiance. donovan's is a sponsor of the suns, so after hearing about it for a couple years, decided to give it a try for our anniversary about a month ago. we were very happy with our experience. got there about a half hour early, valeted the car and had a drink at the bar. when it was time for the reservation, we went up to the hostess stand and they took us to a back booth with our name on nameplate (nice touch!). i had the bone in ny strip, wife had the filet and both pieces of meat were cooked excellent (med-rare) and very tasty. when we finished, the manager, jennifer, came over and told us happy anniversary and made sure we were having a great experience. the bill was pricey, but we expected that in going to a nice steakhouse.

all in all, a first class joint!

awesome. donovan's is amazing. it is high end but it is worth it when you can. the steaks are out of this world good and the service is great too. i recommend it highly to anyone.

poor service. we had dinner on 4th july 09, service could have been much better, for such a high end steak house, the table next to us, received more attention to detail from the same wait staff than we did.

always perfect. this restaurant is the perfect place for a special occasion or just a night out when you're looking for a great steak! complimentary valet parking, great service and the best rack of lamb i've ever had. cooked to perfection all the way through, rather than overdone on the outside and underdone on the inside like at some other places that i won't name...

exceptional - the best in phoenix/scottsdale. the quality and service at donovan's is not comparable to any other restaurant in phoenix . i eat at most of the best restaurants all over the world and believe that they do have the best quality steak i have ever had. not to mention the staff's knowledge of wine and knowing what i wanted before even being asked. (thanks john and david). do yourself a favor and and go.
i recommend the bone-in new york.

the quality of the meat is aparent in every bite. very tender and juicy! a romantic atmosphere for that special night on the town.
