best italian in tampa. thefoodhere is absolutely amazing! it is pretty expensive, but it is well worth it if you want to have real authentic italian food. the osso bucco and grouper are both to die for! the red sauce reminds me of my scilian grandmother. you really cannot go wrong here, plus the host gives out roses to all the ladies, which i think is a really nice touch. :)

old school and incredible. this place is a gem, the real deal truly great italian food, old school in an old school atmosphere. i have been coming to doatello's since 1985 it was great then and great now! you want a great night out wherefoodmatters and they treat you like they want your business this is the place.

the staff is great, too. they make sure to check in with us occasionally, but are never pushy because they know how to take care of their customers. i definitely recommend it for a romantic night out or any time you want old school italian food. yes it could be a bit on the pricey side for some but you do get what you pay for and this place is worth every cent!

this is my favorite italian restaurant in tampa for the 27 years that i have been coming to donatello's i have never once been disappointed. i find myself craving theirfoodoften and when a newby that has not heard about donatello's comes along asking for a recommendation this is the place i recommend hands down. i'm not a fan of chain restaurants mainly because i like realfoodnot industrial strength food. this place has so much history and charm, run by the same family for years and they have become friends and make you feel like a family friend no matter who you are! they have wonderfulfoodand we are always happy once our evening there is done. i recommend starting with the sampler and be prepared to be wowed from there

on my scale of 1 to 10 one being the worse well they are 10! plus 10 plus 10.

this place was horrible and overpriced. do not go! thefoodis not worth the price ( very expensive ) and is bland and tasteless and the place is outdated.

overpriced for low quality. i had to explain what was needed in my carbonara and it still was awful ( how easy can it be ?) , so thefoodis basic and the place need to be redone , it's not very romantic and if you want betterfoodfor better price there is plenty of other places , i don't recommend this place at all .

a consistent classic.. my wife and i had dinner with friends at donatello recently after a 20 year hiatus.foodand service were perfect. their pasta fagioli is the best i've ever had - even better than that served in tuscany (honest.) veal chop was tender, delicious and perfectly cooked.

if i had to summarize donatello in one word, i would say “genuine.” it’s a family restaurant that has old school ideas aboutfoodand service. makingfoodfrom scratch and treating your customers like they matter will never go out of style. this is what donatello does best.

stupefacente. this restaurant was amazing. very impressed. they treat every customer like a special guest. thefoodwas delicious and authentic. i definitely recommend it.

sinfully outrageous prices!. granted they've been in business forever and the service is impeccable but the prices are completely unreasonable. the markup on wine is close to 500% and the cheapest bottle is around $40. unless you have an unlimited expense account, you can get the same quality offoodat half the price in several other quality italian restaurants. also, the quality of china, glassware and mismatched flatware leaves a lot to be desired of a supposedly 'elegant' establishment.

fabulous!!. the best of everything! the service, the wine and thefoodwere out of this world. what a night of pure enjoyment from thefoodto the service. the atomosphere is very romantic and sure to please! ask for carmello, he is awesome!

although the staff was very helpful, thefooddisappointed us. the portions were too small and over-priced. the home-made pasta sauce was good, but the noodles tasted like they were bought from a store. the wine was delicious and set at the right price. we give donatello's a 1.5 out of 5.

12/23/2010 not at all happy.foodwas way overpriced & no tastier than any other chain italian restaurant. paid $27 for blah veal, $3 per ice tea refill (in a very small glass), $12 for tiramisu that tastes just like every other tiramisu and $13 for fried mozzarella with an anchovie on top. the only reason i went to this place was a $50 gift certificate i was given. the bill for 3 people was over $130 + $30 tip, no alcohol & 2 people drank only water. if i ever receive another gift certificate i will throw it in the garbage.

classic italian. really like this place. italian done the old fashioned way. every customer is greeted with a smile and a handshake. thefoodwas delicious, even some unexpected specialites. definitely a good spot for celebrations.

interior is very dated but staff is extremely accomadating.foodwas overpriced and flavorless. go to carraba's pay 1/3 of the price and get a better meal.

all access transportation inc.. thefoodis great. the owners are personal and professional. i am a born and raised new yorker and finding a great italian place to eat has been found. as a owner of a limousine, i recommend my best / all clients to donatello with knowing they are going to be pleased.
