yum! but.... very tasty and generous portions, at a fair price. and, we don't have to brave the old port's traffic and lack of parking. we're lucky to have a good seafood restaurant in south portland that offers take out. i called toorderfor pick up at 7:55, not aware that they close at 8. i was slightly put off by the person who answered the phone- she acted like i should have known they closed at 8. as i was hanging up, there was a voice in the background saying they would take my order. i don't think she was very happy and punished me by leaving out the tartar sauce. you really cannot have fried clams or fried haddock without tartar sauce, so i was pretty disappointed. if condiments are not automatically included, they should be offered. the surliness of the woman who answered the phone directly contrasted with the cheerful and appreciative demeanor of the gentleman who rang up theorderwhen we got there, and was likely the voice saying he would take theorderafter she had reprimanded me. this mishap aside- i will go back and i'll request tartar sauce with myorderand hopefully that unhappy employee will no longer be working at dock's!
