i really wanted to like this place. i loved the fine art cafe and was excited to see that another cafe was taking its place. however, this place is terrible. other than about the waitress, who was very friendly, and the maintaining of fine art's chalkboard menus, i have no positive comments about d'lish. the colour and the painting technique, when coupled with the dark, harsh ceiling beams, makes the "blue room" cold and austere: it is reminiscent of a centuries-old manor which has been left abandoned, dusty, and peeling. the main room's walls and trim just look badly painted. the art was not aesthetically pleasing -- a rarity in this city. most of the furniture was not comfortable-looking, other than two wingback chairs in the corner of the "blue room." the bathrooms are tacky -- nets on the ceiling of a pirate themed men's room, and more pink than i've ever seen in my life in the women's (which, regardless, made the room look cold and harsh).

then there was the food. the turtle cheesecake was sickly sweet. the actual cheese layer was very light and fluffy, but i could not taste it through the two 1/2" thick layers that surrounded it -- the top, a hard chewy caramel topping, and the bottom, a hard chocolate-esque crust. trying to eat it just made everything fall apart. the latte i had was unremarkable, again, a rarity in a city with so many new and wonderful cafes.

the final straw came when i checked out the cafe's facebook page (their website) and saw the owner'sloveof yelling at her customers -- all-caps throughout, exclamation point upon exclamation point. most of her comments are very flaky. it all combines to cause a sense that, as my dining companion noted, this coffeeshop is trying so hard to be whimsical that it ends up being nothing.

i really do miss the cozy fine art cafe with its delicious, understated cheesecakes and drinks, funky atmosphere and staff, beautiful art, and relaxed setting. a genuine loss to saskatoon and the nutana area.

d'lish is great, kid friendly and dog friendly with bowls of water on the deck and hooks for leashes on the outside walls. inside you will find a warm and eclectic atmosphere showcasing local art work with a decorative, original decor. staff are kind, courteous and casual in a make you feel at home way. the menu feature is homemade soups ever changing daily, salads, sandwiches and to die for desserts and specialty coffee. i believe it is licensed, as wine is showcased as well. weloveto watch the sun set from the deck, d'lish is a true gem no doubt.

this place has a great atmosphere.  it is hidden back off broadway.  i reallylovetheir soups - i have yet to have a bad one and the full-size soup is huge.  i haven't had the desserts but they look good.  they have summer special coffees which are excellent in terms of flavour.

k wow. this place is amazing. i had some of their pastries (way too much, i was stuffed to the max) and it was the best dessert i've ever had at a small business. within 5 minutes of leaving i was already reccommending this place to my friends by text. i've been back 3-4 times since my first visit and everything is consistently amazing.loveit.

i've been going to d'lish a lot of times. ilovethe coconut lattes (on the photo) and the coconut iced latte (in summer), the muffins and scones. the sandwiches are also really good (i have tried the turkey for thanksgiving and the chicken chipotle).  unfortunately, one of those times i got a plate (to serve my muffin) and it was stuck with another plate with gum. how disgusting!!. the waitress even agreed that this was disgusting and apologize for the inconvenience. after this i stopped going so frequent. until today i got asked by the owner to move tables because i was sitting by myself on a 4 people table (i am very aware that this table could have been used by other people but when i first arrived there were no more smaller tables for me to sit on which is why i had to sit on a big table). in my opinion: you could not control where people sit and make them move because your place is too small to fit another table. if you want to start doing this then get a hostess!! this was very disrespectful and i felt so uncomfortable that i decided to leave (leaving my entire latte on the table). needless to say i will not be returning again. overall: the products are really nice and "homemade" at least for saskatoon. however, this does not standout with the horrible experience i've had.

if you want homemade soup and sandwiches for lunch you willloveit. the coconut sweet potato soup was very flavourful and sweet with maybe a bit of depth missing. the red pepper soup had a very nice spice warmth to it. the panini are more a sandwich than classic panini but have good ingredients.

today i had a negative experience as i was purchasing my coffee their debit machine wasn't working and they told me my transaction didn't go through. checking my online banking i realized i was charged $9 for a coffee! the owner never once said sorry, returned my money, or wanted to reimburse me in any way. ilovekicking horse coffee but not for $9 a cup!!

i've wanted to like this place for a while, and kept coming back hoping i would be right -- and i was. totallyloveit, i just have just been catching them on "bad days" before.

super nice looking place, really worthwhile selection, but kind of slow staff. unfriendly, and a bit messy. for a corner coffee shop, i'd hope they'd be more neighbourly.

i'll go back and keep hoping.

neighborhood cafe.. for a neighborhood cafe, d'lish lacks almost all sense of neighborhood. the staff does alright, and the menu is a pretty sound collection that should meet most tastes. it would be a great place to walk to and meet friends, have a snack, and visit, if it was in any way friendly.

as i said, the staff does alright, but isn't exceptional. the management seems to lack care for customer service and doesn't inspire it. the setting is cool, but not welcoming, and the dirty washroom with no baby changing table seems to specifically ward off neighboring families.

seeing the menu, desert, and beer selection when the spot opened, i had great hope, and thought i'd frequent this cafe only a few blocks from my house, but found it's charm wasn't able to endure past my first couple visits.

again though, it is cool looking, and the menu's alright, so do go once or twice, but they probably won't keep you coming back.
