for the past few days i’ve been on a cheap eats binge, and of the places i visited, both delia’s chicken sausage (west-side) and big joy grill stood out as places i would return to. delia’s west midtown location most are aware of delia’s chicken sausage dominance, but now many more can enjoy it with their new-ish, more convenient location. their “slingers”, or single sausage sandwiches are plenty filling and two would damage most folks. on this visit, i unwisely choose the hot mess slinger (chili, cheese and jalapenos) and supplemented that with an order of chorizo sliders…both very tasty, but incredibly messy and probably a little much, especially when you add on an order of potato wedges… this hot mess also left a mess on my shirt… the southern sanchez – chicken chorizo, pimento cheese and sweet pickles! we also tried the meatball, sloppy joe and slaw slider, along with a three way (chicken sausage, krout, chili and an ass load of slaw) and the aforementioned potato wedges. wedges, and the “three hot chicks” sliders i told you there was a lot of slaw… all of this food was under $30 and easily could have fed 3 – 4 people instead of the two that ate it. delia’s is cheap, fast, delicious and is perfect for a tasty meal on the go! the day before, i hit up relative new comer big joy fresh grill bar off of delk rd. in marietta, just north of the perimeter. they specialize in korean-style fusion tacos and other asian treats like dumplings and noodle dishes; think hankook for the north-side otper, mixed with a sub shop. if the name sounds confusing, it is; there is no bar, and while the food was good, the “freshness” somehow gets lost in the shuffle…but they do have a grill! korean bbq taco – prettygoodfor ~$3 their menu is very confusing as it offers several korean options like bibimbap, but also ventures into traditional burritos and quesadillas, sandwiches and subs, hot wings, fried seafood, salads, bubble teas and desserts…wow i’m exhausted. stick w/ the korean opti
