not bad. so, i had the pot-stickers everyone has been bragging about. both my wife and me agreed they were good, but nothing spectacular. the other food we had was also good, but not great. you go here and you won't be disappointed, but you're not going to be blown away either.

also, i went in and ordered the food to go. they were very friendly and even asked if i wanted a drink while i waited. i declined, but they still brought me a glass of water. and, yes i did see the older gentleman counting his money while i was there. too funny!!!

not worth the hype. i know that most eating establishments have off days so maybe we went in on one of them but i'm just not sold on this place.

the service was good - i believe david himself greeted us at the door.

the food was good but nothing special. i would compare their "supposed-legendary-pot stickers" to the kind you'd get at costco - the only difference is that they pan fry theirs in oil. i've had really good pot stickers and these were not it.

we tried items from their "chefs suggestions" on the menu and we were grossed out by their sesame beef! the meat was rare in the middle (which i know is not bad for beef) but it tasted like old, beef that was thawed on it's expiration date. i guess i didn't know what to expect when i ordered the dish but i wasn't expecting large, chunks of sauteed, hard, chewy meat drenched in sauce & sesame seeds over a bed of crunchy rice noodles. call me crazy but i've never had to use a knife when eating chinese food.

we sent it back and they replaced it quickly with walnut shrimp (which was pretty good) but if you ask me, take your money to sampan,the golden phoenix or little world. this place is a bit pricey for the same food you can get anywhere else...

boring americanized chinese food. i don't understand what the hype is about. i ordered their lunch special. it tasted and looked like americanized chinese food (you know, heavy on the sauce, food on the plate looks immoveable, and taste is almost always on the sweet side), . and from the looks of their clientele at lunch time--white men in suits and ties (but then again, this is salt lake city)--maybe that's why this place is highly rated?? i just don't understand.

horrible customer service. i went with a group for a birthday celebration. we waited for nearly two hours to get our food. finally after waiting for so long, and not having even ordered yet, a member of our party went to find the staff. we finally got our food. the food was good, but the service was awful the entire meal. the owner himself then tried to over bill my husband and myself. when we showed him the error politely, he was down right rude. i have never been treated more horribly in my life. david (owner) seems dishonest, judgemental, mean and disrespectful. it was a horrible dining experience.

2 of us ordered the potstickers, honey walnut shrimp and sesame beef. it was all outstanding and a great combination. there wasn't much left to take home for later enjoyment. i'm looking forward to returning soon.

we go here every time we are in salt lake. the pot stickers are absolutely fantastic. we also had the general's chicken, but asked for it to be mild. they always do a fantastic job and have never disappointed. will be back on our next trip for sure!!!

not good. i have worked in the area of this restaurant for number of years and finally tried david's kitchen out for lunch. we got take out and it they brought out our order in about 1 minute (not a good sign). i'm not a huge fan of chinese food but i don't mind it when it is good. i had the kung pao chicken lunch special. the egg drop soup had vegetables that tasted freezer burnt, obviously frozen. it's pretty difficult to screw up fried rice but this just had a weird taste, no egg, and obviously frozen vegetables. th kung pao was awful. chicken was gross, sauce was bland, weak vegetables. the egg roll was not bad it was the only thing i could finish.

not sure how you could call this the best chinese food in slc? so bad i wouldn't give it another chance. i can over look certain things but when the food is bad the rest doesn't matter. the only reason i gave it two stars is because the lady who helped us was very nice.

pot stickers a must. mongolian beef a winner. mom and pop kind a place. love this place!

slow service, mopping floor while patrons in dinning room, and greasy food disappointed this diner. it used to be much better than this. i am not going back.

regular customer & always like it!. i moved to slc in early 2005 and the realtor i was working with took me to david's kitchen and the rest is history. months later i stumbled across it driving around since i didn't really know where they were at and i have always liked what i always order-- pot stickers, house fried rise, shrimp lo mein and sweet & sour chicken or general tso's chicken. i liked their flavors and i think it's one of the better chinese fast-food places type restaurants in slc. nine years later and i still recommend it and like it. true that some of the waitresses are not the friendliest, i still go there and enjoy the food. however, if you're looking for high quality chinese, you have to travel to davis county to the mandarin. if you want to say in slc, david's kitchen won't disappoint.

i think this is one of the best chinese restaurants in salt lake city. the food is fresh and flavorful, the staff is great, and the place is clean.

totally different experience. i have eaten at davids kitchen several times now. i have never had any of the food problems that i have seen in previous reviews. i know that some of their younger servers are a bit on the rude side. i won't dispute that. but as far as their food and service the food has always been great! in saying that i have not had the dishes that were complained about. i have had their orange chicken, general tso chicken and the chicken in black bean sauce. non of it was rubbery, not of it was bland or tasted bad. with all of the pot stickers i have ate at different restaurants theirs are on top for me! i travel monthly around the slc area and i stop and get pot stickers to go for my family. we love them.

worst out of nine. i've lived in utah for a few years and been to 9 chinese food restaurants around slc. the food from here was the worst.

first, the good. we enjoyed the soups and the rices were fine. no problems with ordering. sweet and sour sauce was normal (but i've never been to any place that messed up sweet and sour sauce).

now the bad. we ordered 5 different entrees and didn't like a single one. most of the flavors were bland. the battered chicken was too dry and rubbery. reminded me of when i tried to cook severely freeze-dried chicken in a college day's desperation.

i am puzzled why this place was ever recommended to us.

worst chinese food ever!!. i don't understand the good reviews on this site. i double-checked and it is the same place i ate at today. awful! we ordered the general chu's chicken. the chicken was weird tasting, like it was thawed out too long and had almost gone bad before it was cooked. it was awful. the kung pao was no better. the only thing i ate was the lo mein, soaked in msg of course, even though i asked and they said it wasn't. i should've known it was gonna be bad when the food showed up a minute after ordering it. if i had wanted chinese fast food i would've gone to panda express, which is fine cuisine by comparison to this joint. on top of everything the server/cook had a serious attitude problem. $30 down the drain and a stomachache later, i warn you to stay away!
