loved it!!! great food, great atmosphere, and  wonderful service. we left satisfied and full. excellent place for a date, it has such a cozy and inviting feel. one of the best kept secrets in town. while there, my mother and  i tasted the chicken, pork chops, fried green tomatoes, mac&cheese,  greens, sweet potato casserole, and waffles...and it was all delicious.  now don't come when you're in a rush because they do take the time to get thefoodright, but it was absolutely worth the wait. i would definitely go again.

so i came in because i was told i must try the best soulfoodin kentucky by the nice guys down at xtreme autosound. so i walk in not really knowing what i was going to be getting myself into and my oh my! the place is so nice and so out of place! i would expect this to be more of a fine dining place not a make you think of your momma's cooking kind of place. i stayed and enjoyed a 2 pc white with greens and mac and cheese! the wait staff is so helpful and quick. never once did i have to ask for anything, it was like he could read  my mind! i must say the greens were amazing, mac and cheese could be a meal alone! so creamy and filling! now i must say the chicken was great too! super moist and seasoned just right! i dont live anywhere near but i cant wait to go out of my way to stop in at least once a week!!! think i just found my new favorite place!!!

my husband and i ate here last weekend. ourfoodwas delicious!! our waiter, day day, was so nice and helpful. we met dasha as she personally checked on the food. she is such a sweet person and an amazing cook. the restaurant is really pretty. we loved ourfoodand are looking forward to going back soon!

what a pleasant surprise. this place is clean, very reasonably priced, thefoodis awesome and the service was over the top. def putting it in the rotation.

first off- the two gentlemen that work there are the kindest human beings i've ever met. but thefoodwas really good! nothing beats simple home cooking comfort food. but since we are from out of state and relied on urbanspoon and google to tell us their hours of opperations we had come in around 7:45pm on sunday by accident... not knowing until after we left that they closed at 8pm on sunday's. but you would never know we were "those customers," the ones that come in 10 minutes before you close and orders one of everything on the menu because they did not rush us or even gave us the impression they were closed before we even ordered. proves to you that this small locally owned restaurant really value your business and are just in general good human beings. thank you for the great dinner- hope to see you all again next time we come and visit louisville!

one word: awesome!. me and my husband ate there tonight and it was great. we eat out often but this is our new favorite spot. fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, and fried corn on the cob was all the best i've ever tasted. thefoodis out of this world and the owner and his wife are so nice and really want you to have a great experience. a combination of made to order amazing food, great hospitality, and low prices make this place one of the best places to eat in louisville. do yourself a favor and don't pass it up!!!

great chicken. the atmosphere leaves something to be desired and thefoodisn't very quick but it is well worth the wait! the service was very good and the chicken was moist!

thefoodhere is absolutely incredible. the chicken is wonderfully season, could use just a pinch more salt, but it's divine nonetheless. the sweet potato casserole is phenomenal, and the macaroni and cheese is otherworldly. this is the kindafoodyou hear people talk about when they talk about soul food. i strongly recommend everyone give this place a try, you won't regret it.

fresh. better than grandma's. in louisville on business from columbus, ohio... found this gem on urbanspoon and so glad we did! thisfoodis goodness to savor from first bite to last. the dark meat fried chicken was steaming hot with a crispy coating. loved tasting the bits of cheddar in the baked mac and cheese and the sweet potato dish was to die for. fresh. fresh. fresh. it's what the chain homestyle restaurants try to do but don't. we asked aaron where he learned to cook like that and said he grew up on a farm and gave kudos to his grandmother and his wife. oh, and aaron seated us, waited on us, (peeled the sweet potatoes, too), cooked for us and wished us safe travels back home. keep it up, aaron. you have a fantastic thing going here!

delicious chicken. my friends and i love getting fried chicken but we had recently lost our favorite chicken spot and haven't been able to find a place we really loved. all that has changed. this is possibly the best fried chicken in the city.

thefoodis made to order which is awesome. i love knowing myfoodis being made when i order it and not sitting under a heat lamp all day. the cook came out and told us that ourfoodwould be about 6 or 7 more minutes. not something most places do. once we got our food, he came out to see how we liked it. the staff was very friendly and welcoming.

each of us ordered the two piece dinner with two sides. the chicken was crispy, juicy, and perfect. the coating was flavorful, not bland like some places. i didn't care too much for the mashed potatoes (they were a different style than i'm used to), but the mac and cheese was excellent.

our meals were very reasonably priced for the portions and quality. with a drink i my bill was about $8.50 or so. definitely worth it. we will be returning. we started discussing coming back before we even finished our meals.

we placed our to-go order and while waiting a gentleman came and apologized that the reason it was taking so long we cook as we receive orders-which is what i like. i know myfoodis fresh and cooked especially for me.
you will not be disappointed. check it out!!!!

might be good.foodmight be good but restaurant execution is lacking & understandable. they seem like newcomers who don't have experience in running a restaurant. they were really nice the other night when i was there, but 7 of 8 tables had nofoodor beverage on them. struggling under the weight of the recent c-j review is what i'd stay.

lovely to be able to eat where you know thefoodis fresh. everything i have tried has been delicious and the portions are hugh! i guarantee you that once you go you will be back.
