best food in durham!!!!

worth the wait!. we waited for 45 minutes but it was worth the wait. the waffles alone were great but the shmear made it wonderful. the strawberry cream is desert. the chicken has a good flavor & compliments the waffle. the greens were just spicy enough to make a great meal. the strawberry lemonade was good too!

the staff was friendly and i was able to sample all of the sides. the food was great and quick. overall it was a great dining experience, i mean come on, blueberry waffles!! highly recommended!

i schmeared my peach apricot schmear all over my beautiful waffle (and i’m not normally a waffle person), topped that with some maple syrup, and died.

worst experience i've ever had in durham. i really have nothing good to say about this establishment. they weren't friendly, they told us it would be a 25 minute wait, it was over an hour, they finally sat us down (wait was a bit long but my friends and i were still in good spirits) and after taking our order, never came back to check on us, after another hour we still had no food and politely complained, they said they could maybe get us food in another half an hour, so at this point we had to walk out. the entire staff, the manager, no one was the least bit understanding or really apologetic. it is the worst experience i have ever had in durham. i complained via letter less than a week later and received a form letter reply basically taking no responsibility for anything that had happened or offering any discount or anything to make us feel better or want to give the place another try. the only positive point of the entire experience was talking to the other disgruntled customers, one guy told us that we should leave and gave us the name of another restaurant nearby he liked a lot. i don't know if he and his family ever got food or if they did end up going somewhere else too. i have never been treated like this in a restaurant and i wish that after two hours i could have tasted at least a side dish or anything. the food must be amazing if this place is still open because as far as i can tell, my group is not the first to be treated like this. i've read other very upset reviews stating they have had similar treatment. completely unacceptable. stay away!

dames sucks. i visited dames in gso,nc with a large group of 13. i was very disappointed, we made a reservation at least a 5 days in advance, when we arrived we were told that out group would not be able to sit together. even though they knew we reserved seating for a large group, our meal came in a decent amount of time. the problem i had with my waitress and the kitchen came right that. i made the terrible mistake of asking for butter to go with the waffles. 20 minutes later when the waitress finally arrived witht he butter, i asked her to heat up my cold waffle. she said they dont have a microwave or warmer. she said she would order another waffle "if i wanted one". i told her yes and an hour later i had to go and ask her for a box to put the old waffle in. she brought the new waffle with our check an additional 15 minutes later. i was charged gratuity on my bill and paid $13 for 2 drumsticks and a bowl of grits. it was terrible experience for our first time there. i will never go there again.

not worth it, too loud poor service. we arrived at 3 pm on saturday 5/25/2013. we were told an hour wait with 2 tables open and the bar open. then told we could sit at the bar. had i seen 96 food score rating, i would have left before the 2 of us had ordered. service slow at best food is marginal. the atmosphere is loud and someone burned something in the kitchen filling the place with smoke. food is overpriced. go to a waffle house and get better food, prices and service. don't stand in the long weekend lines for poor service. we had to ask for our server twice before we got our check and had to ask 3 times to get a go box. too many other nice places to eat in durham take a pass on this one!!!!!!

ok out for a weekend adventure. came to raleigh, nc found this restaurant by accident. and i must say a good accident it was. had wings with a vegan waffle not something i would pick (vegan) but the host recommended it and it was awesome. so again listen to the locals and you usually don't go wrong. the greens had a kick and the macaroni and cheese a different twist. the prices are so reasonable and the portions is enough for a late night snack.. if you passing through add this place to your adventure.

i put my name on the waiting list at 1:40. we waited until 3:00 and was never text so we left. we got around the corner and they finally text us. so i called to tell them we had left but we were coming back. she proceeded to tell me that if we weren’t back in the next 6 minutes that our table would be given away. they close at 3:30. it’s 3:10. why are you still allowing people to come in when you close in 20 minutes? this is not the first or second time this has happened.

if you go on a sunday, order straight away - it takes ages

for the love of google we found this location and fell in love with this place. we were here for “college check-in” and needed some breakfast. located this restaurant and we were not disappointed. the customer service was great, food quality was on point, there was nothing to not like. i’m looking forward to my next visit to durham as this will be on my breakfast list of must-do’s!

we have been there many times and have never been dissapointed. the only problem we face is getting a table. it's always got a crowd. no wonder. the food is fresh, well prepared and incredibly delicious. the service is fast. don't be afraid to order the bigger plates, just gives you some to take home for later. you will want it later. believe me.

we had very bad experience. wait was ridiculously long and waiter did nothing to ease the discomfort. being "trendy" is no excuse for just plain bad service. making people wait unnecessarily long times is bad service and these folks need to address this issue. the food was mediocre, certainly nothing exceptional.

first chicken and waffle experience. classy hen w/blueberry waffle and chessy southern grits. took it back to hotel, it was my last night in town, but when i returned to town a week later it was my 1st stop!!!!
