fantastic!!!. we ate outdoors listening to jazz music and the sound of the waterfall. we had the calamari, seafood chowder, crab cake, tomato salad, filet mignon with bernaise sauce and scallop potatoes. it was all delicious with a unique flavor for each dish. great service...treated us royally.

this place will blow you away. i first tried dakota's for prom in 1995 and have been back many times since. service is always impeccable, the ambiance is breathtaking, and the food is absurdly excellent.

such wonderful.... outdoor seating! had reservations on a saturday evening, surprisingly not very busy. restaurant had free valet parking which was kind of nice. you have actually go down a floor to get to the restaurant which was very unique. we were greeted when we walked in and had patio seating. i highly suggest outdoor seating on a nice day, the setup with the waterfall is very cool.

onto the service and food. the service - i believe this name was michael - did an outstanding job. he was polite, preofessional, allowed us plenty of time to think about what we want, and had some great suggestions. we had filet mignon, mac & cheese, and scalloped potatoes. the meat was cooked perfectly and was well seasoned, barely a need for the steak sauce that came with it. the mac & cheese with truffles and potatoes were a perfect compliment to our meal, with the standout being the potatoes. i'm not great at having all these neat desciptions for food, but they were very good and baked well.

sure i dropped about $120 for two people but the food, service, and ambiance was worth it as an everyone "once and a while" treat. will definitely go back if i have plans on being in the area.

i had the lamb cut which was superb. cooked medium, with a cherry mostarda & chimichurri (pesto) on the side. very good! i don't even like cherries and it was excellent. we went for our anniversary. my husband had the oysters from prince edward island. they were small. he loved the bone-in filet mignon. the dessert was tasty but not to the level of the entrees. the menu is on their website along with prices.

the service was excellent! they were very informative and quick to meet your needs. they also signed a card for us which was kind.

the piano player was great! i love live piano music. i tipped him on the way out.

the ambiance is very masculine. not a feminine touch in the place.however, there were plenty of women eating there so it doesn't deter anyone. it is underground which is cool. we used the valet parking right at the elevator.

we love celebrating special occasions and everyday in general at dakotas. the staff is so friendly and very accommodating. my friends daughter who celebrated her 11th birthday was thrilled when presented with a personalized sampling of all their desserts. they make everyone feel special. the food is fantastic. this is a quiet, cozy establishment making it easy to have conversations. no loud music or banks of tvs throughout. valet is always prompt and courteous. love that they greet us by name every time we visit.

accordingly, the best place for steaks in the entire downtown. tricky location but worth the discovery. try out the desserts, and ofcourse the beer to top it up.

while the atmosphere is pleasant, the service was ridiculously slow and wanting. the server was condescending and disengaged. bread service was delayed. drink refills were provided at snail’s pace. my pork chop was charred and dry. i actually had a fly circling my plate. when i notified the server that a fly was on my plate, he looked closely and saw it. the server apologized and removed the plate. i presume and would much rather believe that the server never notified management or the kitchen, as there was no attempt to make this wrong right. though i did not and would not request that the cost of the pork chop be removed from my ticket, i was astounded at the fact that it was still on my ticket. i paid the check, tipped appropriately as etiquette would demand, got as far away from the restaurant as possible. never, never again will i step foot in this establishment!

while this restaurant is super expensive, it is also super neat. first, you have valet parking. then you ride an elevator down to the restaurant. there is a dark, romantic, calm mood upon entering the restaurant. we had a reservation for after 9pm, so the restaurant was peaceful. everything we ate was remarkable. for appetizers we had tempura shrimp and a wedge salad. for entrees, i had crab cakes and scalloped potatoes. my husband had rib eye and grilled asaragus. our bill came out to be over $100. but for the service, atmosphere, and food, it was totally worth the experience.

we pulled into the parking lot and there was an older brunette lady smoking out of a pipe in the parking lot. my wife and i rolled our eyes while we parked thinking it was someone from the apartments nearby the car was older with a strap across it to keep the hood down. it was packed which is typical so we waited in line for a minute were finally seated. turned out our waitress was tonya who turned out to be the pipe smoker in the parking lot. my wife and i looked at each other the waitress was talking but her sentences didn't quite make sense together. she said to order then she would interrupt us each time we tried and talk about her local warrant out she has out? i finally had to just rudely interrupt her she was chattering a million miles a minute. we had already given each other the look so i just told her firmly we'll take water and give us a second. then we just got up and left. we hadn't noticed the other review on this waitress, wish we had, but thought we should post as well. we've been going here for years don't know what's going on but hopefully next time will be better.

while on a business trip to dallas, i decided to try dakota's steakhouse for dinner. i was surprised to find the restaurant below the street level. i'm glad that i checked it out, because the cowboy ribeye was excellent. since i was dining alone, i didn't feel like i had room for the entire ribeye plus a family size side. the waitress recommended that i go with some sautéed mushrooms and it worked perfectly. if you are looking for a great steak in dallas, check out dakota's.

had the meatloaf. very good. salad was also good, but was needing more tomatoes, etc. for the price, i thought the portions weren't substantial.

do not go for lunch. awful, philly steak sandwich was like out of 7 eleven. waiter said it was best on the menu and then argued "that's the way it's served".

my husband and i went there on two occasions and each time we had a very lengthy wait time. several other tables that had arrived after us had already received their food.the meals were ok but since each time had been such a long wait, we have given up on dining there/

got seated right away. waitress came right away. set there for over 40 minutes waiting for our food while people that came in 20 minutes after u.s. got their food. my husband finally asked our waitress how much longer. they had lost our ticket then our food came right out.

the food was good. ribs were too fatty, but had good flavor. fried okra was cold, but they quickly made it right and brought out fresh. baked beans, fries, potato salad, mashed potatoes & gravy were all good.

my daughter ordered a medium steak...came out mostly rare, but she was so hungry she ate it.

everyone was super friendly.

might try it again...hoping it won't take forever!

the atmosphere at dakota's is wonderful to enjoy well-prepared food with a bit of artistic flare.  i was at a group meal with a fixed menu.  all the selections were well received.  my 8 oz filet was properly cooked, a nice cut of meat and i enjoyed it to the last bite.  no additional sauce or seasoning required.  the appetizers were equally enticing.  i topped my meal off with a simple but delightful coconut crème pie.  the service for a large group (40 or so) went off without a hitch and we were served promptly and efficiently.
