good food. probably a little pricey but not terrible. i got the salmon and my husband got tuna. both dishes were cooked well and tasted great. dakotas mudslide pie was recommended and it was awesome! we are not from dallas just visiting. so chances of us going back are slim, but overral good experience.

we wanted to try a steakhouse that we had not gone to yet…let’s see if dakota’s can make our top three steakhouses in the dfw area!

om: al biernat’s has always been our gold standard for steakhouses, followed by the dallas chop house. i had only been to dakota’s once and remember it being pretty good…but wow, it blew my expectations away within seconds of being seated. dakota’s is “underground”, that is that we took an elevator going down from the street level. we asked for outdoor seating, and they placed our table right next to a beautiful little man-made waterfall feature. they decorated the area with some gourds, nice touch that matched with the time of year. our waiter, allen, was one of the best that we’ve had at any steakhouse – he was very polite and attentive throughout. i ordered chicken and rice soup for an appetizer, which was outstanding. my main course was a 12 oz. filet, which rivaled al biernat’s!! whaaaa??!!? it needed no sauce at all and was cooked perfectly! it was tender, had awesome flavor, easy to cut…just wow! and the side dish that we ordered was mac & cheese, and yes this was great too! i could go on and on about the overall experience of dakota’s, but there is no doubt that this is one of our top three steakhouses in the dfw area, and i would even say it skyrocketed to the top of our list. ambiance, service, food, we loved it all. try to get a seat outside!!!

nom: i really had a hard time imagining at steakhouse that would be as good or even super close to how good al biernat’s is. well we found it! i had never been to dakota’s but had seen it on the occasions i had to drive thru downtown dallas. it’s pretty sneaky the way you could miss it! think of it as dallas’ subterranean restaurant. my handsome love asked that we be seated outside and they sat us in the courtyard under the stars by the waterfall. the space is pretty good considering the limited outdoor area they have to work with. most of the wall was decorated with foliage, gourds and orange and white pumpkins! it was really beautiful. our waiter was spectacular…yes better than any other that has served us. i ordered the salad to start with ranch and it was not your typical wedge. more like a head of lettuce they shear the ends off. the bacon on my salad was amazing…i think i ate that first… i also ordered the rib eye steak and it was absolutely delicious! the sauce they serve on the side is also delicious but the steak could stand on its own. we also ordered the mac n cheese and it was the second best we’ve had!! i can’t wait to see this place at the holidays with my handsome love!!!

5 stars.... everytime. pull up to a free-standing elevator in the middle of downtown, hop out at the valet. take the elevator down, and you're in dakota's!!! i've frequented dakotas with my hubby and we come here annually. it's always great. we usually opt for the surf and turf, however we've ventured out a few times with fish specials or other cuts of meat and haven't had a disappointing experience yet. service, ambiance, and food.... on point, everytime.

can i just say, if you are looking for an upscale restaurant with a quiet atmosphere to have a business meeting or a romantic evening.... you should go to dakota's! i am usually brutally honest with people and reviews, so when i say that this place will not disappoint, i truly mean it. number one, to get to the entrance, you have to take an elevator down... that is legit. the macaroni and cheese was very hot at first so be careful, but it was exquisite! the fried calamari was hard to put down... trust me! it is definitely a little bit pricey, but it is worth it! you are treated really well, and they are on top of the service the whole meal through. that being said, they didn't rush us out or anything. i would definitely return here. also, there is valet parking as well, so you don't have to worry about parking downtown!

great food and nice people!. my wife and i celebrated our anniversary at dakota's, and what a great choice it turned out to be! the staff was very friendly and attentive, but not intrusive. the food (the seafood and filet) was top-notch, nicely prepared and delicious. be sure to try the crab cakes - they're the best! a special thank you to our waiter, oscar, who took great care of us, was knowledgeable and made excellent recommendations. can't wait to go back!

wow! i liked it better than pappa's. the service was excellent, even though it was a little rushed for my taste. the steaks were worth every penny. highly recommend the bone in fillet.

wonderful food, atmosphere...except for the piano player which is too loud. people have yo try to talk over the piano and the piano player obviously feels like he had to play over the loud talking!!!

dakota's. the worst hamburger i have ever eaten. dry, hard, cold bun, dry meat and it took 30 minutes to get our order.

nice food. my wife and i ate at dakota's for the 1st time a week ago. for or 1st meal we had the pot roast and enjoyed it very much. we have been back 3 times and so far all the food has been very good.. tried their chicken and dumplings on 10-4-13 and was very surprised as the food quality was very good as was the pot roast. in the past 1 1/2 weeks now we have ate their 4 times and the food is very tasty.for desert we have had the chocolate pie and a brownie. all very good. if the food stay's this way they have a new full time customer.
waiter is a little slow at times they get to doing some thing and forget to come back to the table to see if you need any thing. all is livable with it thou.
will be back and i have called 2 friends to try to get them to come and try the food.
so far i like the food we have tried.

yummy comfort food. dakota's menu is comfort food that i crave but don't always want to go to the production of cooking at home because it's loaded with carbs & calories and i only need one serving of that stuff to satisfy the craving. i certainly don't need all the leftovers! the staff is always super-friendly.
