delicious. i was looking for a place to go for brunch with a friend, and dairy lane received good reviews, so we decided to give it a try.

the food was awesome and the cafe was cozy. someone else on urbanspoon recommended the stuffed french toast, so i eagerly gave it a try (being a sucker for french toast and all), and it was fantastic. i have been back twice more, just for the french toast alone.

i have sent friends here as well, boasting how good the food was, and they were just as pleased. keep up the good work dairy lane.

unsuspecting gem. food: 4/5 - appreciation for perfectly cooked eggs isn't always a given. the choices are fresh and good portion sizes to boot. the breakfast burrito can't be beat.
service: 4/5 coffees for the dozens waiting for a table is nice. the staff is nicer.
decor: 4/5 - a contemporary looking diner with a classic looking menu. comfy chairs and shaded patio makes for an enjoying setting for chowing down.
ambiance: 4/5 - busy and loud, as it should be in a popular mom-and-pop diner. everyone is always having a good time.
bang for $: 4/5 - you pay for the locally sourced, organic food. however, don't skimp on the specialty coffees and desserts. it's worth the treat.

how could i not know this place existed?. i went to school for six years of my life two blocks away from this small (10 two-person tables) independent diner. yet, despite it being an established neighbourhood restaurant since the 1950s i only visited dairy lane cafe recently.

what i really like about the restaurant is that it uses locally produced and organic ingredients, as i'm all about supporting and showcasing local businesses. and the dishes they create that my wife and i tried were quite good.

my wife had the tomato and avocado eggs benedict and i had the swiss cheese and bacon stuffed french toast. both were remarkably good, the avacado in the eggs benedict bringing out a nice new flavour i never would have considered before. the french toast was also quite filling with the stuffing enclosed in the two pieces of thick toast.

we'll definitely go back as there are a few items on their menu we're interested in trying like the breakfast sammy, breakfast burrito, omelletes and crepes. but although we are fans of the tried and true breakfast dishes, they do have a number of lunch items that should please other visitors as well.
