it had been almost 8 years since we were last at cutler & co, so with fond memories of the beautiful food and wine, mil and i decided it was the perfect time to revisit in celebration of our 10th wedding anniversary.
we headed in slightly early so we could grab a drink at the bar. it is a unique and beautiful space, where you are treated to a view into the open kitchen. this only heightened our excitement, seeing so many great dishes making their way out into the dining room. the dining room itself is dark and atmospheric, but really comfortable too. wide booths that allow for a great view of the space while remaining private spaces, make it the perfect space for a special night out.
given there really are no poor choices, mil and i went with the chef's selection tastingmenuwith matching wines. 10 odd dishes later, we were well and truly satisfied. we started with char grilled baby corn, oysters and bonito sashimi. the wood grilled marron was sweet and smokey, and went perfectly with the heritage tomato salad. the two main were maple glazed duck and suckling pig. both perfectly cooked and crispy skinned.
we had spied the cheese trolley while we were in the bar, and i'm so glad we decided to add in the cheese supplement. four cheeses plus house made crackers and delicious accompaniments were well worth it. dessert consisted of a small passion fruit sorbet pallet cleanser, followed by a chocolate delice to share and a blueberry vacherin each. any finally a little chocolate truffle and fruit jelly to finish off the night!
there were so many beautiful wines which accompanied our meal. each perfectly balanced with the flavours of the dish. generous pours and some really interesting varieties.
overall an evening that lived up to our memories and expectations. definitely worth adding to your "special occasion" list, but life is too short to wait so just go here asap!
