awesome experience. we were actually going to eat at the thai restaurant in the same shopping center but decided against it because of the reviews. we started to leave the parking lot and sawcutlassgrille. it was fate!! we love jamaican food and i am puertorican. that being said it was the best i've ever had. i had the curry chicken. my husband had the jerk chicken and we shared flan. everything was perfection. when we first entered we saw the owner interacting with the customers. the ambiance is nice. music was being played live and overall a wonderful experience. not to mention the service was great! also the hardest to please in our party was raving about it!! (our 10 year old food critic) we will definitely be back!

absolutely amazing!! went out last night w a friend for a mom's night out and we were lucky enough to discovercutlassgrille. our waitress was friendly, helpful and attentive and the food was amazing! the pulled pork was perfectly smokey, the mac and cheese was perfection, and the sweet potato fries were very good. the prices were also incredibly reasonable. i can not wait to go back!

3rd time is the charm!. a couple of weekends ago we went to listen to the steel drum competition at the oceanfront and thecutlassgrille was there hawking their culinary charm. my better half was not particularly impressed with their 3 wings i previously delivered home (see previous 4/28/11 post, please), so was somewhat of a hard sell to get him to try. but now he is hooked!!!! he ordered the chicken skewer dinner & i had the rib dinner. the food was well prepared & delicious with just the right amount of spice & smoke, the meats were tender & juicy & the sides were perfect. i think this guy is in his element when working a crowd! we will re-visit & encourage others to try as well.

ate there only once.... ...but it was tasty & tender. i love anything smoked & this guy does it well. stopped in 1 other time to pick up some wings to go...disappointed that he only had 3. bought those 3 & they disappeared quickly! will update review after trying him again.

this place is awesome! their food leaves you craving it. the oxtails are always so tender and tasty. their sides are just as great. i always recommendcutlassgrille when you have that craving for caribbean food or just a great meal!

perfect every time.. we have never had a poor experience! the service is incredible and the food is some of the best i've ever tasted. it's consistantly amazing and diverse! not only that but the owner always makes it a point to walk around the restaurant and interact with his customers... (he also cooks!) we'll be loyalcutlassfans forever.

delicious!. i triedcutlassgrille for the first time today and it was an amazing meal. the beef patties were fresh and hot and the ox tail were incredibly tender. my boyfriend had the jerk chicken and that was delicious as well. we will definitely be eating here again. try this place and you will not be disappointed.

soooo goooood!!!. fabulous! it isn't often that i leave a restaurant looking forward to my next meal there.cutlassgrille is an excellent addition to our neighborhood, and we hope to have them there for many, many more years. i have been looking for a good place to get caribbean food and my searching is over. happy, happy, happy!!

small restaurant, big soul..cutlassrecently moved from near the dmv to a larger venue in the strip mall at the corner of battlefield and knells ridge. the smell of barbeque fills the parking lot. don't be turned off by the lack of decor or flashy signage, the main attraction is in the kitchen. go straight for the jerk chicken dinner and forget everything you think you know about jamaican food. very warm and hospitable staff. we were greeted by the owner twice who was genuinely interested in our feed back. small local restaurants like this are too often squashed by lack luster chain restaurants, and chesapeake is poor in its selection of quality bbq. pushcutlassto the top of your list next time you're in the mood for something tasty.

thecutlassgrille restaurant is located in an unassuming mirror window office building, situated between doctors’ offices and the chesapeake dmv.  caribbean is not the most popular cuisine in the south but owner shawn dawkins jerk barbecue accomplishes introducing folks to his jamaican roots while also serving up good down home southern cuisine. the prices are very reasonable for a more than ample lunch plate.  i sprung for a meal for three with a total of approximately $23.00, no tip to leave because it is an order at the counter joint.  one dining companion had brown stew chicken, a side of cabbage and rice and peas for about $5.99 lunch special.  the other ordered the pulled pork sandwich with two sides(coleslaw and french fries), priced at about $9.00.  as for me, i ordered the curry chicken lunch special.   the owner allowed us to try his award winning pork ribs, c

best food for the money in hampton roads. living on a budget with 2 children means that we rarely visit a restaurant without using a coupon. it takes a special combination of value, service, and taste for us to become a regular at a restaurant, even in the absence of a money-saving coupon.cutlassgrille is one of those rare places.

we first visitedcutlassgrille after purchasing a groupon. we were blown away by the flavor and quality of the food for the price. initially, $8-$10 per dish didn't seem like a great deal, but then we tasted the food, we realized that
