tomato bread w manchego w bread from city bakery was meh. beet salad was beet salad and uninspired. at $10 i felt robbed. jamon iberico de bellota was the best but it's only sliced ham. melt in your mouth wonderful in spain but a little dried and chewy here. of course all they do is slice it. $20. worth it maybe but a little more would have been nice. eggplant honey was good for a bite or too but it was just too candy-like for an entree. another $6. spanish tortilla was terrible. the center was runny. not what you want. not enough potatoes/onions in the mix either. tasted like scrambled eggs. last: they brought some complementary dessert as it was my wife's bday. they called it a panuela i think. it looked like a piece of flypaper and had pop rocks and other sugary garbage stuck to it. i wish they hadn't. $90 later i'll say i gave it a try and never will again.

amazing. we had an amazing lunch here new years eve. the eggplant with honey plate was awesome. the pimento peppers stuffed with spanish cheese were surprisingly great. their version of paella was very good. great atmosphere, great service, great food.

best in asheville. i've lived in asheville for 16 years and eat out way too often. last night's meal at curate was my first time there and likely the best i've had anywhere. attentive service, amazing food - every plate incredibly delicious. our favorite celebration in 15 years for the birthday grrrls (2 on 12/25, 1 on 12/24 and 1 on 12/28) can't wait to return with our significant others. kudos to katie and her fantastic colleagues on this remarkable endeavor!!

sat at the bar which is in fact the kitchen and had a great meal. the chicken fritters , white asparagus, and the cheese stuffed red peppers were awesome.. the scallop dish would of been great but the scallops were a little over cooked. but overall it was a great experience. gotta love tapas

chady. the food was beautiful, fresh and delicious. i understand the concept of tapa's, but you're paying full prices for very small portions, and i still left hungry.

turned our night around!. i will start out by saying that i am in the business and i am pretty critical on restaurants. we had a great time here after leaving a christmas party early to get dinner/drinks. it was raining so i am thinking that we will have no problem getting a reservation...wrong. we ended up sitting on the bar which i normally do not care for...i would now say that i dont know that there would be a bad seat here. we started with cocktails, white asparagus and charcuterie...cleared our plate. next, stuffed peppers (my favorite) and sauteed mushrooms...cleared our plate. next, potatoes, croquetas and lamb...cleared our plate. the only glitch that happened the entire meal was that our lamb took longer than expected and our server slid in the eggplant while we waiting which ended up being one of our favorites. this ranks in with my top meals. the service was great and not just for us...you can feel the positive vibe of the restaurant from everyone. i was almost shocked at how low my bill was. my new favorite!

well.... more hype than good. it was ok. very impressive looking establishment. nothing just made me say wow! went for lunch, had the squid sandwich ( not very flavorful), the salad w/ tuna (ok, but the tuna was from a can and not really worth $9), the oxtails ( a special, tasted a little scorched and the potatoes were like melted ice cream too me) and the rojettas ( their version of paella, which was the most disappointing of all, $15 for chopped thin noodles and 4 shrimp, they should take that off the menu entirely). the place is nice and sharing tapas is fun to do, but at those prices the food should be better.

lots of hype, just ok. we couldn't get reservations for dinner so we stopped in for lunch. i would have loved a glass of sangria but they only serve it by the pitcher? we enjoyed the trio of ham plate - the acorn fed was the best!! although the toasts with tomato jam were a little soggy and not much flavor. the chicken croquettes were bland and the stuffed peppers i believe came out of a jar. we only ordered 3 items from a large menu, i would be willing to go back and give them another try. the atmosphere was fun and i loved watching the kitchen staff work right in front of us.

tapas to talk about. so impressed with cúrate that we are already planning our next date there! the menu was exactly what you would expect at a traditional tapas restaurant, but the nightly special which was sous vide oxtail and served over the lightest whipped white potatoes and drizzled with vanilla olive oil. aceitunas (good variety and seasoning), alemendras fritas (my favorite), patatas bravas... the only thing we ordered that was slightly underwhelming was the tomato, ham and cheese bocadillo serrano which was just too bread-y without a lot of flavor. great selection of wine at affordable prices. the service was friendly, though our server was a bit scattered (understandable as it was a very busy friday night).

cannot wait to enjoy cúrate again & again.

food was good, not great. my belief is that if the chef can't cook better than me it's not worth it. the problem, as with most restaurants today, is that there are too many seats, the quality goes down when trying to cook for too many people. unfortunately, this place has great potential that may not be realized because of it's size.

i consumed the patatas bravas/setas al jerez/croquetas de pollo/canelones de carne. decor wonderful, music unfitting for environment. they have good wine selection (pairings are appropriate) and the mushrooms (senas) were some of the best i've had. patatas bravas need work. the two sauces offer no differentiation. the canelones were terrible. the filling had many cartilage flecks and the dish was one washed out bechamel that missed the mark. the chicken tasted both pre-made and unimaginative. tout the authenticity of spain sans location. no individual culinary creativity in the dishes i tasted save the mushrooms.

food adventure awaits at curate.. another shotgun style storefront on biltmore avenue that you may just walk right past. instead, turn in for an astonishing, amazing tapas dining experience.

couldn't wait to try the jamon iberico fermin - cured ham from black footed iberico pigs of spain. amazing salty and mild flavor. continuous nibbling, we made that dish go as long as possible.

seared scallops - the best part of a tremendous meal. indeed, i didn't know how scallops could taste - curate sets a new standard!

gambas al ajillo -- amazing garlic shrimp.

canelones de carne - interesting meat roll-ups. not a favorite, but good filler!

croquetas de pollo - fritters around shredded creamy chicken mixture.

dessert! -- esumpa de chocolate, a tremendous chocolate mouse accompanied by bitter apple and salty praline.

beautiful open kitchen and first class service. even on a weekday, they had a great crowd.

the meanest thing i could say about the place? they could use a bigger sign out front.

needs some innovation. nothing is really made there. i sat at the bar one night and saw everything coming out of some imported container. where is the creative food loving menu?

overpriced. the food here is quite good but portions are very small and you need to order numerous dishes to make an average or light meal, which really adds up! i do understand that it is a tapas concept restaurant, but it took 4 or 5 dishes per person to get enough to eat! our party of five all felt that dinner was way too costly, albeit good.

curate is a tapas restaurant and the items i would definitely recommend are the pan con tomate - fresh tomatoes on city bakery bread with our without the manchego cheese it is wonderful and so simple, the selection of the 3 cured hams is a must, the lamb skewer and the sauteed spinach. there was also an egg/omelet dish we tried which was wonderful and the scallops are very nice. the atmosphere is fun, especially for a large g
