this was my first time at the corner stable. i went on a monday night and the place was packed, likely because of the rib special. there was no wait. they moved people in and out quickly though i never felt rushed. the server was very attentive, and our food came out quickly.
i ordered the barbecued chicken breast with seasonal vegetables (squash, snap peas, carrots, and broccoli) and long grain wild rice. my sister ordered the ribs with fries. we also ordered some cornbread, which was sweet.
i thought everything i had was excellent. i really enjoyed the chicken which i found very tender and tasty. my sister said the ribs were fall off the bone tender. her only critique was that her fries were somewhat limp and not at all crispy, which she prefers. the cornbread was very tasty, and the portion size was generous and enough for at least two people to share.
i did not have room for dessert, but the range of options was impressive.
the price range is a bit high for my college student budget (about $14 for each meal with the rib special, without the rib special the ribs would have been about $21). however, i had to take a to go box home, so i effectively got two meals for that price.
the atmosphere was pleasant too. though the restaurant is somewhat small, or at least has lots of seating which makes it feel small, it felt cozy instead of crowded. i appreciated that the bar area was separate from the main dining area. the building and decor were interesting, especially if you enjoy horses and horse racing.
the ladies room was clean though a bit small with two awkwardly placed stalls.
there were tvs throughout the room, but the volume was low or muted. they played no music, and the restaurant was filled with happy chatter. the noise level was pleasant.
the restaurant was decorated for the holidays and i enjoyed the tasteful holiday decorations both in the restaurant and outside the restaurant.
the parking situation is pretty bad, at least if you want to park by the restaurant. we ended up parking in the shopping center parking lot and walking just a couple of minutes to the restaurant. i would not recommend parking in their alternative parking, which is by battery warehouse, as it is further away than the shopping center parking lot.
all in all, i enjoyed this dining experience and recommend the corner stable to anyone who enjoys good food.
