small, hip coffee shop that is the real deal. experienced roasters do the beans in store (check out big red!) so you are getting the freshest, best grinds. the diabetes-inducing sweets are also home made locally and i have tried most of them. if i’m at the square in marietta, this is my stop.... even with no drive through, this beats the charbux not a block away. the only caveat to this place is that it is small inside-and always packed, no matter the time of day, so wrangling a table is a crapshoot..... thankfully there are plenty of tables outside in the courtyard, but the wifi can get spotty out there and the freakin’ train.... whoa.... pretty unbearable (but that’s anywhere in the vicinity-inside or out. man, that thing is loud!) worth the stop of you like real coffee.

... this week i would like to introduce you to a coffee shop in marietta square called cool beans coffeeroasters . atmosphere- i stopped into cool beans on a sunday evening and the place was buzzing with noise and people. the shop is on the smaller side and is made of mainly café tables and chairs, with a few added cozy, cushiony chairs that when used, places you right in the middle of the ordering line...awkward. there were some older couples, a group of friends playing a card game, lots of teenagers, and some college kids studying in a corner nook decorated with a mural of van gogh’s starry night. the baristas were scurrying around behind the espresso bar and yelling out drinks over the loud rock music that was playing.  the card-playing group kept spontaneously yelling out “bs!” to go along with their game. people were coming and going, carefully maneuvering around each other and furniture in the slightly-cramped space. the atmosphere was all-too rambunctious to concentrate on my book and the outdoor patio seating wasn't an option due to the freezing january temperature, so i just sat back and enjoyed my drink and the art for sale adorning the walls.  overall, the shop was a little too hectic and hippy/grungy for my taste.

condescending attitude. placed on order online on dec 11th. when i did not receive it by the 18th i went back on line to check with no luck. i then called the store. a gentleman said he would check and get back to me in 5 minutes. one day later no response. i tried calling back 28 times and got a busy signal. i sent an email and receive a very condescending response from the owner chastising me for calling the store. the acknowledgement email i received from cool bean coffee directed me to check the website or call the store to follow up on my order. it also said i would receive an email when it shipped, which i did not get. he said my order shipped on the 13th.
he said he would check for a tracking number. did not get a tracking number. when i told him i would file a complaint with paypal he agreed to refund my money. i received a notice saturday of a certified package from the post office. it was the coffee which was shipped on the 20th. when i talked with the owner and told him he offer to come get the coffee but would not agree to refund my purchase price in cash. i have no reason to trust a company will issue a refund when they are not honest about shipping a product and repeatedly take no responsibility for their actions. therefore, i declined to return the coffee and will not do business with cool bean again.

very busy on a saturday morning. coffee au lait was good though i would have liked to see more flavor varieties for the coffee itself.

great atmosphere. what's really going for this place is it's awesome atmosphere. eclectic art hanging on the walls, cool tables and comfy couches along with study nooks give this place a unique environment that is both modern and inviting at the same time. it's a little disappointing that there isn't more on the menu in the way of food. it'd be nice to see some more pastries or breads to go with the coffee. despite this, the coffee is fantastic. really a cool hangout.

fabulous iced latte. i was skeptical when my husband offered to buy me an iced latte at cool beans in marietta. i hastily told him i only like starbucks. but as we drew near the shop it smelled so i good i said i'd give it a try. to my utter delight my iced latte was absolutely delicious! i'm hooked now. it was better than starbucks with a really bold flavor which i love. i might add i drink decaf lattes and for anyone who does and also enjoys the stong flavor of espresso, this is the place to go.

cool beans is my cheers. i absolutely love this place. i have been waking up to a cup of delicious cool beans espresso served by some of the friendliest people in marietta for nearly 2 years now. their espresso is the best i've found this side of the atlantic (i was introduced to espresso in italy, so the bar was set pretty high...).

the bariste at cool beans really know what they are doing. the shots they pull are the proper viscosity and have a beautiful thick crema on top...yum! the starbucks and caribou wanna-bes press a button and create a cup of dirty water for you. cool beans bariste grind the in-house roasted espresso beans to order (they even adjust the grind periodically throughout the day to account for the effects of humidity and temperature fluctuations). they carefully tamp the grounds and brew to create the perfect shot (or in my case, the perfect 4 shots) of espresso. sure, the process may take minute or two longer than the corporate drive-thru "cafes", but the cool beans product is definitely worth the wait. it is absolutely fabulous.

not only is the product worth the trip, the atmosphere is warm, friendly, and inviting. i have met so many wonderful people there (both employees and customers alike). i look forward to my visits in the morning on my way to work. no matter what mood i'm in when i arrive, i always leave happy. (by the way, my co-workers thank you for that, cool beans. :-d)

it's nice to have a place in marietta where i can honestly say "everyone knows my name."

i disagree with the assessments by those who found the staff to be less than friendly. i love this place and have always had a great experience here. the beverages and beans they produce come only from the passion and expertise of the entire staff. these people care about coffee and coffee consumers. it shows. if you are looking for a high quality cup of joe rarely seen in any suburb and a nice place to enjoy it, this is the place

mad skills. love this place. love the local art. love the freshly roasted beans. sure -- cb is generally grimy and understaffed, but the baristas are some of the best around. went in last night for a doppio espresso ristretto and the guy behind the counter prepared it beautifully. (try ordering a ristretto at a chain shop -- seriously. deer. in. headlights). where else in marietta -- and i mean marietta proper, not smyrna or roswell -- can you drink a hand-prepared shot out of a square ceramic mug while tom waits warbles idly in the air?

oh, cool beans. how i love thee.. i've been coming to cool beans for years. it's like my sanctuary of sorts. the atmosphere is amazing, and it's my favorite place to hang out and write or work. there are a ton of regulars who feel the same way, and many of us freelancers/work from home people use it as our office.

the coffee is amazing. they roast their own coffee! it tastes way better than starbucks, and the atmosphere is way better, too. it feels a lot more like a community, it's unique, and it's just a cool place to hang out -- whether you're on a date, working, in a study group, or writing a poem.

i don't know what all these "the staff is unfriendly" reviews are about. in the almost ten years i've been hanging out at cool beans, the staff has always been very friendly, unique, and polite. the new guys are no exception. if you want awesome latte art and to listen to amazing music, come when chad is working!

they are supportive of local music and art, too, which is always great. when are you going to be able to pick up free local music in starbucks?

what happened?. so, truly, i used to love this place. bought my coffee there, loved the usual guy working behind the counter, and was willing to wait in the long line, but lately, there's been a new guy behind the counter on monday afternoons, who would be described as surly at best. seriously, this man is rude, unhelpful, and obviously hates being in the service industry. this has caused me to begin buying my whole beans at starbucks (gasp!) or caribou and spend my time on the square at any other establishment. truly, everyone, find another place....sad but true....

unfriendly staff. i used to like this place, but lately the staff has been unfriendly and not helpful. not worth it to wait so long in line while one guy does everything. you're better off at starbucks, i'm sorry to say.
