last month, i was at morning event at the cincinnati art museum. with the rare opportunity to grab a weekday lunch in mt. adams, a friend and i opted for an old favorite of mine - city view tavern . city view is a hole in the wall bar and grill on oregon

food is better than the view. i make a point to taste and rank burger joints around the greater cincinnati area, and this special secret spiced burger is my favorite in the city. they also have the best bloody mary that i have ever tasted. the menu is brief, but there is no other food that i would rather eat here.

used to be a favorite. unfortunately, the service has gone bad. also know that there is limited selecton on drinks (no olives, no tequila, few liquor selections). if you want a beer and a decent view of i-471, this is the place for you.

the best place that nobody knows. a couple of weeks ago my friend and his fiance took me out to city view tavern. they had been raving about this place to me for the last year. it was well worth the wait. their hamburger is by far the best in town. a good size patty of beef, tomato, onion and lettuce w/ or w/o cheese. dining at city view tavern is worth the effort it takes to find it.

pathetic. i went here after a red's game the other day only to find that they outdoor seating consisted of 5 metal tables and plastic chairs. there was no bartender, so i had to grad a pen and paper from the bar to take the orders of everyone in my group. however, the bartender came out a ew minutes later and told us that 4 of the 7 things on the menu were not available... only leaving 1 person with an order. the beer on tap was sub-par and they ran out of 3 beers half way through filling them. we decided that the cab ride to mt. adams wasn't worth it and we went back downtown for dinner.

great dive bar, good burgers, fantastic view. really laid back, well known bloody marys taboot, taboot. i hate to advertise for it because i think i might love it and want keep it to myself. i'm coming back with friends. aaaaand i have to mention that charles manson grew up on the same block, if you didn't know. so go party like a serial killer!

last week it was snowing and getting pretty crappy outside but my handsome hubby had been home all day and wanted to get out. so off we went with no destination in mind - but then i remembered one of the "c" restaurants that didn't win... city view tavern in mt. adams. the snow was definitely coming down - it's a small little place but it was pretty much empty this night. yeah - it was us and 2 guys at the bar. the view is amazing - but at night - through a window - doesn't make for a good picture. but needless to say - if you haven't seen it - you need to. lots of memorabilia around the place as well - go reds! most importantly the burger...we got two big ted burgers which came with a bag of chips. no fries here. the buns are from giminetti bakery and were really great - so much better than a grocery store hamburger bun! they were big but still soft...one of the best buns i've had. the burgers were loaded up with brown mustard, onion, mayonnaise, lettuce, catsup, tomato*, and pickle.

not the best burger.. the burger was good, but definitely not one of the best. the bar was a really great experience. the view was amazing. the bloody mary was delicious. the bartender was friendly. i will be back to drink and to eat without expectations of a out-of-this-world burger. i do not know how cincinnati magazine ranked this above terry's turf club... still waiting for a burger to match up!

but the bar is great! i will be back.

mt. adams' secret hideaway...... hidden away below the "touristy" parts of mt. adams is an eclectic neighborhood bar of world-class quality. you're a stranger here only once, i've been elsewhere but i always return to cvt. deck has panoramic city & river view. world class burgers, great juke box, mix of young professionals, graduate students, local residents, tourists. casual but classy atmosphere

burger quest. time to kill downtown, headed up the hill in the early afternoon, hey i got a place to park!

absolutely empty, sat at the bar, friendly bartender, ask about the burgers, recommendation was the "big ted deluxe" he got busy making the burger, i scoped out the place, not to many tables, a pool room and great view of the city,
burger came out hot! good solid $4 burger, typical 6 oz burger with some of the usual trimmings.
solid taste, good flat top crispness.

would recommend a trip, hope you find some parking!

i almost hate to do a review on this place because i feel like not a lot of people know about it and it is never crowded for lunch even on a beautiful day like today. but i figured since only about 2 or 3 people read my blog, it won't matter too much. cit
