been here last month to try out binondo restaurants.
many customers thats why we were attracted to go.
we ordered the oyster cake one of their best seller. it wasgoodquite authentic.
ambiance is good.
the serving of the food is big so its enough for two person (the oyster cake) they also have fruit shakes there and many more chinese foods ofc.
easy to locate
many tables for customers.
but dont go at peak hours.

we usually go upstairs to cafe mezzanine, for the aircondition. but this time, the weather if cool, so is our chance to try chuan kee.

food is just the same as cafe mezzanine. only open air.. samegoodfood. place is just as clean. highly recommended.

verygoodfood considering the price. the place is really crowded during weekends and lunchtime to the point there's a queue outside. i highly recommend this place for your food hopping in binondo.

one of the oldest restaurant in chinatown. the place was quite busy so you are going to have to wait to be served, they are under manned so it feels like you are getting ignored a lot. most of their dishes are on the expensice side. the food were mostly ok, the kikiam was good, the kiampong is pretty expensive and not so special, maki was tasteless though texture was good. with the abundance ofgoodrestaurants around binondo, this place should step up its dishes if it wants to remain relevant.

they also offer the rare and exotic soup no.5

we tried their kiam pong, pork asado, kikiam, and xiao long bao. we weren’t able to enjoy the xiao long bao much because it congeals more easily than other baos but it was apparent that it would have beengoodif we ate faster. the kikiam was my favorite here. i would definitely recommend ordering it.

i don't know why people are complaining about the price of their kiampong? 60 pesos is already reasonable compared to ordering garlic rice in other restaurants. and besdies that is their bestselling dish. order maki or lechon macau on the side and you'regoodto go.

this place gets top marks for food options - rice meals, soups, dim sum, noodles, sweets and much much more. your typical chinese fare - classic choices like machang, sweet and sour pork, mami. in short, no surprises here. average cost per head would run from 150-200php.

the chop chay with noodles was a monstrous bowl filled with meatballs, pork meat and intestines in a flavorful broth. definitely a dish for sharing - i could not consume it despite my usual appetite. the pork dumplings/ shu mai weregoodbut nothing special (dough was too thick and a bit oily).

service is good, though maybe a tad slow when the place fills up.

there is an adjacent eng bee tin store where you could shop for your favorite hopia, tikoy, wintermelon tea and other food items for pasalubong.

very cheap as their noodle servings aregoodfor two. ambiance is simple, but somehow cramped. service is poor and too slow during lunch or dinner hours. food is average, but i recommend trying the xiao long bao.

(update)
preparation time is still slow. poor service. the free soup tasted like collected broth from steamed dimsum (i know its free but dude it tasted bad).

chanced upon this while looking for a place to eat in binondo. location isgoodcoz it's near binondo church. we entered an eng bee tin shop and was surprised that this is adjacent to it. ordered their xiao long bao (10 pcs at p170! 😊), beef mami p160 and camaron relleno with some radish on it. xiao long bao is quite ok ( a little oily for me), beef mami tastesgood( except for the serving size coz i feel that it lacks noodles), but camaron relleno is something worth ordering for 😊. service is quite slow though. price is reasonable 😊

my friend was looking for a affordable xiao long bao, so we look for a place where we can eat a cheap butgoodxiao long bao. we stumble to this restaurant on the internet and got here yesterday and it was worth it!!! it's not just the xiao long bao we also tried the braised beef and siomai also their wintermelon tea and it was superb! we got there pretty late so we havent tried their lechong kawali but there is still a next tym! 😀😀😀😀 i suggest after a long walk in shopping in divisoria instead of goinf to the food court save your tummy for this resto! just beside the binondo church right after eng bee tin! 😍😍😍

this establishment is an icon in binondo ,right across binondo church.it brings back childhood memories whenever i heard or eat at chuan kee,it became popular during the the late 70's and 80's especially among workers and employees who worked around the manila downtown area.however i think during the 90's ,there is a management change.
the food ,the food icons here are the kiampong ,maki, makimi ,chop chay, kamto ,gokong, the fish bola bola soup (my childhood favorite),the halo and their fruit and gulaman shakes.and now they offer more variety of dishes.
i went here last time to taste their kiampong and chop chay(mix innards soup).there is something missing in the taste of chop chay tho the kiampong still have the same distinct smoky flavor.overall the food tastegoodbut there is something lacking.
ambiancewise still the same,will i come back?of course !

had mirienda.

ordered there maki mi and there beef noodles and siopao asado. food was ok. was expecting more on the flavor. i would say that it's agood80% tasteful compared to eating it in homg kong.

price is very reasonable.

given the distance, not sure if i would go back.

sometimes you just want a quick chinese food fix. when i'm in the area i'll come here for some of their special soups. in particular i like any chance i can get to get black chicken soup as these are yin nourishing andgoodfor health.

being of chinese descent and actually being able to read the chinese characters in the menu, i can make sense of the items. a typical menu item would be "kamto mi" followed by chinese characters and price. however i doubt if he typical non chinese knows what "kamto mi" is. this place gets minus points for being difficult for non chinese character readers.

service was quick and the staff okay. whenever they see anyone just sitting around they ask if the customer was already attended to. plus points for me.

lastly it is not air conditioned so sitting near the cooking area can feel a bit warm.
