as beautiful as chiswick at woollahra is, it’s really not ideal for vegetarians. there’s only one veg main dish on the menu (mushroom ravioli) and unfortunately it wasn’t as impressive as i’d hoped. the desserts on the other hand, were a big hit.

wonderful!. went for a working lunch on a weekday afternoon. excellent variety on the menu with a number of sharing options which worked well for the table in lieu of starters. i took the steak tartare which was delicious, as were the chips on the side. there were no complaints from the table with the fish going down particularly well. while not sure about the ambiance for a dinner for two, certainly this was a great atmosphere for groups of 4+, business or pleasure. attentive service. would highly recommend.

that's why i hate reading other reviews. i hate reading other peoples reviews, because the negative ones always stand out most.

my partner and i just had lunch and found everything great. the service wasn't pushy or pretentious, though relaxed and honest. we only ate the chicken parfait, a crab slider each, the moran lamb to share and the orange/passion pavlova to finish and each dish was amazing. the lamb is a little expensive, though it is definitely not for one (i congratulate you if you ate it by yourself) and we couldn't finish the plate.
maybe we were just in a really good mood, though the food was filling and delicious, the restaurant beautifully decorated and the service to perfection, there's not a lot more you can ask for for a nice lunch to be any better.

thanks for a good afternoon.

underwhelming...not. i used to like the old pruniers resturant. it had that air of old money sydney even when it was on the backslide. chiswick is more new sydney. the pretty young things have inherited estates and blown all the hard earned wealth away on fast cars and expensive overseas holidays and a fast and furious house and garden renovation life style of keeping up with the joneses. lets hope theser house prices can keep on supporting the obese mortagages attached to them eh? stuck in the middle of upwardly mobile trendsville, chiswick, has a lot going for it. its in the heart of ocean street, one of the nicest streets in the eastern suburbs. the contemporary glasshouse-inspired space with the open kitchen is very smart. i love the vegetable garden on the grounds which the wait staff took great care to tell me about. it's a great story as a lot of that fresh 'locally' grown produce in the grounds ends up in the food. the menu has this white fusion waspisness about it that is really refreshing. there are some very basic recipes done really well and some nice twists on some old favorites. none of this asian fusion surprise that's becoming a pathetic excuse for substituting the exotic as an excuse for a well cooked meal.the servings are large for the most part. not a main in sight that you can eat with just four bites from your fork. you have to give it to moran and crew they have done a great job here. very few negatives. i think that the place can be a little too pricey for what you get with some of the meals. the desserts are a tad expensive. the whole roasted lamb is $75 and i think its pricey as a single dish even though it is advertised for two. its still missing the wow factor for the amount of dosh i had to put on the card and i cant quite put my finger on it because it has a lovely ambience. still i enjoyed my meal and my wife loved the atmosphere. this is a really nice resturant for grown up people. it has a lovely wine menu. everything is done with economy and a bit of class. and i didnt see a single irriating young asian food blogger photgraphing their food while we were there! merci! apart from the solid well cooked entrees and mains, the service was attentive and gracious and i will be returning soon!

lived up to the hype. went here for an early dinner recently and loved the experience. the passionfruit and chilli cocktail was the best i have ever tasted. we shared the oysters to start, and had the spanner crab pasta and mushroom ravioli -both delicious. we also had the pavlova (good) and the caramel parfait - (to die for). beautiful setting - will be back.

disappointing food and overpriced. got there for a 2.30pm lunch last sunday and the minute we entered the restaurant it sounded like a hen house and you could hardly strike up a conversation without having to shout at your partner. we ordered the blue eyed fish gnocchi and peas meal ($34.00) only to be totally amused by the small tasteless portion of fish, half a dozen small peas and 5 pieces of gnocchi's served up in what looked like a soup plate. it looked more like an entree than a main meal!.there was more taste in the small bowl of sauce that came with the fries side plate which, if we had not ordered, would have gone home still feeling hungry!. there was no taste in anything we ate, in fact we could have done better eating at home in any meal we could have come up with. we had a glass of wine, a dessert with our meal and a cappuccino and ended up costing us $164!. l do not mind paying any amount for a meal as long as i get a nice meal and leave with a good feeling.i could not say anything nice about anything we ate and would certainly not recommend the restaurant despite all the hype of having a world class chef at the helm. fair to say i will not go there again.

located in the middle of a beautiful garden, chiswick also serves such a variety of tantalising foods and the taste deliver as well. the service may not be top notch when they're busy but its still acceptable. do come during lunch because the view is picturesque!

menu with a venue!. chiswick is so lovely, i have been twice and can't really fault it. the venue is gorgeous (set inside a greenhouse) and well decorated with dimmed lighting that gives it a great atmosphere. the gnocci was delicious, and both of the seafood mains i have tried were cooked perfectly and nicely flavoured. the menu seems to change, but the chiswick rocher dessert seems to stick around and i know why - it is absolutely delicious!!!

because i am amazing at suggestions, i decided for bianc’s birthday we should go to the beautiful and iconic ‘ chiswick restaurant’ in woollahra...to start off our feast we decided to have some “nibbles”. the first being the ‘prawn popcorn’, spiced mayonnaise, lemon $16 .  an absolute winner. the crunch of the juicy prawn was heightened by the golden batter that enveloped the little morsel and the spicy mayonnaise left a tingle on the tongue but wasn’t overbearing at all. a great way to get the appetite going.

very disappointing. did not live up to the hype - six of us went for dinner last sunday night and the overall consensus was - poor and disinterested service and very underwhelming food. the steak was very below par, crab pasta ordinary, calamari was so - so
desserts nothing to rave about
not sure what the hype is about - do yourself a favour and go elsewhere

chef matt moran’s chiswick restaurant in woollahra is like a hidden tranquil escape equipped with it’s own kitchen garden full of fresh produce ready for the picking. the sliders here should not be passed up! the plump little morsels of sweet, plucked snow crab meat coated in a crunchy panko batter. the patty was wedged between a squidge of deliciously creamy kewpie mayonnaise and pickled gherkins.  cured ocean trout, yarra valley roe, lemon verbena $21 there’s something about the exploding of roe juices that gets my taste buds tingling. paired well with the ribbons of cured trout, creme fraiche and hint of lemon from the herbaceous lemon verbena.  crisp buttermilk chi

disappointing 4th visit. we booked a 2:45 pm lunch this saturday for our wedding anniversary as we didn't want to be rushed and we love a long lunch. unfortunately they failed to tell us the kitchen stops taking orders at 3pm! so we were rushed probably more so than the 12 or 1 booking we would normally take. our waitress was also brash and burped at our table, foul. i used to love to european waiters they had there last year. the lamb was good as always, but the fact we were so close to the next table was off-putting. they were clearly listening to our entire conversation. we won't be rushing back...
