gluten free, dairy free and of course meat free options galore!! worth the wait if there is one, fun vibe in historical lakeview neighborhood, or logan square. buddha's karma burger is my favorite, other than thegreatsweet potato fries and milkshakes.

a friend told me about this place and i thought it was very cool that it’d been meat free for so long (ahead of its time really)! was expecting a light, heathy meal since it was vegan but it was the exact opposite - i ordered the country benedict with the tofu scramble which was very heavy and filling but suuuuper tasty! the gravy alone was probably double my daily intake in calories but you couldn’t tell the seitan sausage was vego and i think it’d satisfy any eager meat eater. the menu itself was full of regular diner offerings and overall it was such a fun experience eating here. it’s in agreatlocation and the service was absolutely amazing - the girl who served me was so lovely and even let me try a cinnamon roll on the house!

if you have any stubborn friends that say that they could never give up meat, this is the place you should take them 🤪

i was staying at a hotel close by, and i couldn't help but stop by twice in one week. i ordered take out on both times, but the staff was courteous, and super helpful for an undecided me.

i got the cajun black bean burger, the portobello truffle melt, and their peanut butter puck. everything was awesome. if you're a mushroom lover, you shouldn't miss the portobello truffle melt. it was more mushroom than i expected, but it was good nonetheless. as for the peanut butter puck, it was so worth the price and i loved how peanutty and chocolatty vegan desserts can be. of course, i ate the dessert first.

it's a busy place at the heart of boystown. but for a place so full, it wasn't noisy in an annoying way. while i waited for my order, i realised that it'd be agreatplace to share a conversation and a meal with friends. the only problem for me was that they close at 10. wish they stayed open late. even then, when i went in at 9:50 pm to order take out, they were cool about it. sure, it was too much to ask on my part, but the staff still got me my order without a cringe. and for just that, i'd recommend this place over and over.

a friend of mine and i have been doing road trips recently, and we went to chicago. we stopped for two days so we could relax and explore the city. my friend is a vegetarian and we had heardgreatthings about the chicago diner so we stopped in. it was a very cool place, and it was very modernly decorated. i must admit, i was dreading coming here because i am not a vegetarian. i usually eat meat with my meals. after looking over the menu, we both ordered. i got a version of their burger, my friend got a vegan shake. i took a bite of my burger and i was completely amazed! it had so much flavor. it didn't taste like a true burger, like i wanted, but it still hadgreatflavor. the salad that came with was so good too. my mood instantly perked up after i took a bite, because the food was that good! next time i'm in chicago, i'm going back there, hands down the next time i am in chicago. it's delicious!f

1. cramped? yes, here is the definition for you.
2. cold soups, when not ordered for are not a surprise. request to warm it up, just about worked.
3. salad was good but ratio of leaves to toppings was nothinggreatto talk about
4. potatoes with gravy were not good at all.
5. will not go again, too noisy, too compromised, too hyped.
6. not worth it.

oh the chicago diner ... i have heard suchgreatthings from all over the internet. i am happy to report it didn't disappoint! choosing restaurants to eat at for your birthday is an important decision, and this was a very very right one. the atmosphere is very funky-alternative-hipster set in an old diner-style building with tables, chairs, and decor to match (the diner part, not the funky-alt-hip part). a very interesting mix indeed. i started off with a mimosa, then ordered a crazy combo of items for my brunch: cinnamon roll, mac & teese, potato hash, tofu scrambled "eggs," and wheat toast with jam. me & my birthday mimosa!  by far the very best thing was the cinnamon roll (which of course i have no picture of). it looked very average and i was ready to be a little bit disappointed, then i tasted it. it was so good! the mimosa was fabulous and the tofu eggs and potato hash were salty and very well flavored. my only complaint was that the tofu eggs were a little dry as if they had bee

amazing food! we loved the black mamba (black bean sandwich) and avocado tostadas. i am a vegetarian but my hubby and daughter are not. they loved the food. exciting place. be careful walking through town there. some shops are for over 21 and there was a bad crime in the area after we were there. we walked to the diner after agreatcubs game in the afternoon.

best chicago experience. i'm not a vegetarian though i wouldn't mind being one, but man the food was amaaaazing at the chicago diner.greatselection to choose from and believe you wouldn't miss meat as soon as you had your first bite. awesome experience because the food, the ambiance, the fact that it's by wrigley's, and definitely the staff--very chill and very friendly/helpful.

the best vegetarian eatery i've ever been to.. this past thanksgiving holiday, i visited my family in chicago -- i'm from florida. i looked up this place and went with my father.

the vibe of the place isgreat-- a very hip diner atmosphere and all of the staff were very friendly and not pretentious at all. i loved the lighting in there and how there was a diverse range of people in the diner. sadly, at other vegetarian places, i've noticed that the clientele can be of one type -- snobbish and uninviting.

the menu was amazing. they have a huge selection and i've never known another restaurant other than this one to have a vegan reuben sandwich! i ordered this, and it was insanely delicious.

my dad, who is a meat eater, ordered the vegetarian philly cheese steak. this was his first vegetarian meal, and he was extremely impressed.

the chicago diner's menu pleases everyone. they have the best selection of vegetarian and vegan food i have ever seen at a restaurant.

if i lived in chicago, i'd eat at this place every week...it's that good.

i felt right at home. the beer selection is very good too -- a huge plus!

i ended up buying a chicago diner shirt. i'm now a huge fan!

i wish that there was place in florida even remotely like chicago diner.

chicago diner does it right.

highly recommended!

best vegan food i've ever had! i wish there was one where i live. i was in town for only 4 days but made sure to have dinner here twice before i left. the country fried "steak" was out of this world, and the potato skins with the "cream cheese" and "bacon" is better than the real thing.greatservice, chill atmosphere, and fun area of the city. highly recommend!

great vegan comfort food!. some restaurants have a lot of hype behind them, but don't actually deliver. chicago diner is not one of those places. this is agreatplace to go for vegan diner food. it's also agreatplace to take non-vegan folks who want to see what it's all about. many of the dishes are veganized versions of your typical diner food. don't leave without trying their desserts, either. they have *the best* vegan chocolate chip cookies ever! they also make a mean vegan peanut butter chocolate chip cookie dough shake. a must try!
