masala cheese bread pakoda was made with aloo masala stuffing, cheese, green chutney inbetween slices of bread, dipped in battter and deep fried. it was good intasteand not too oily.
vada pav with aloo vada stuffing, garlic & red chilli chutney(powder form) and fried green chilli, close to mumbai's taste.
samosa chaat was diferent, topped with peas masala which was bland and did not blend well. chaat is supposed to be chatpata in taste, may be they rethink this recipe.

situated in a residential area, it is good for hangout with friends. colorful place. late delivery of food. okayish taste. expensive for the mediocre taste. the cold tea and soda section doesn'ttastetoo good, given that the name of the place is based on beverages!!

i had visited chai and gupshup before but wanted to try thier new location so went on a weekday. the staff was incompetent and slow. i had to wait for almost 20 mins just to place my order. the food was avarage. on the whole.the experience was just disappointing.

i ordered for a thandai milkshake but got notasteof thandai.
the dahi kabab was good but the dabeli was a complete disappointment. it just contained a pav with boiled potatoes.

the chai n gupshup has been remodeled and looks great, but the change in ambience has changed thetastedrastically . wen i ordered for a dabelli i received one which was cold .... and i guess the cooks as well as waiters have no idea on what to serve ..... and the captain or the person who took the order was abusing his staff right infront of the customers.... trust me wenever i come down with my frnds i had a warm welcome in chai gupta ship but i could sense alot of cold shoulders out.

this review is long due. my dad frequents this place almost everyday. i go in once in a while - went in today - and decided it was time i wrote about it.

the food - 3/5
i ordered the sev puri and my mum, the samosa. i thought they were delicious. very different compared to the usual rubbish other hotels term "chaat". my only point of annoyance was the aftertastethat the dishes left in my mouth - it probably had something to do with the raw spices they added. it's been close to half a day since i ate there and i still have unbearable burning combined with a major case of acid reflux. now, this is probably the perfect time to point out that mum seems to be suffering from the same. dad on the other hand seems peachy as he very sensibly stuck to his 1+cutting portion of green tea (oh, this is the only place i have been to that openly embraces the indian mentality of "cutting".)

the price - 5/5
very light on the wallet. you can come out super contented with a hundred (and get some back in change).

the place - 2/5
hate it. it smells. everything is sticky. there's grime everywhere. the walls look dirty and it generally gives a vibe of an unclean, unhygienic restaurant. i must point out that the glasses and the other utensils used to serve us were spotless (big plus).

bottomline - if you can put up with eating in a dirty restaurant, this is the place to be.
