i had visited chai and gupshup before but wanted to try thier new location so went on a weekday. the staff was incompetent and slow. i had to wait for almost 20 mins just to place my order. thefoodwas avarage. on the whole.the experience was just disappointing.

i ordered for a thandai milkshake but got no taste of thandai.
the dahi kabab was good but the dabeli was a complete disappointment. it just contained a pav with boiled potatoes.

this review is long due. my dad frequents this place almost everyday. i go in once in a while - went in today - and decided it was time i wrote about it.

thefood- 3/5
i ordered the sev puri and my mum, the samosa. i thought they were delicious. very different compared to the usual rubbish other hotels term "chaat". my only point of annoyance was the after taste that the dishes left in my mouth - it probably had something to do with the raw spices they added. it's been close to half a day since i ate there and i still have unbearable burning combined with a major case of acid reflux. now, this is probably the perfect time to point out that mum seems to be suffering from the same. dad on the other hand seems peachy as he very sensibly stuck to his 1+cutting portion of green tea (oh, this is the only place i have been to that openly embraces the indian mentality of "cutting".)

the price - 5/5
very light on the wallet. you can come out super contented with a hundred (and get some back in change).

the place - 2/5
hate it. it smells. everything is sticky. there's grime everywhere. the walls look dirty and it generally gives a vibe of an unclean, unhygienic restaurant. i must point out that the glasses and the other utensils used to serve us were spotless (big plus).

bottomline - if you can put up with eating in a dirty restaurant, this is the place to be.

i love tea and had heard this place served better tea than most places in coimbatore so i decided to try it. disappointment is not a strong enough word to describe my feelings for this place. ordered the masala chai, expecting it to be flavourful but it was milky and very clear that a tea bag had been used to prepare it. the dabeli was decent but soggy, as were the dhoklas, not to mention that they were all overpriced. the chaat shop beside it served betterfoodand tea and would use the name of this shop only as a landmark to guide them towards that chaat shop. however, the tea bags they sell are spectacular and i would highly recommend buying those for daily use. the peppermint tea is especially delightful and it had a friend of mine addicted for quite a while.

dropping by on a weekday, i visited chain n gupshup alone for a quick snack in between work. the place is located at a busy corner of rs puram. i walked in to see that they were doing a brisk business for a snack outlet at lunchtime. the manager was courteous to acknowledge and help me with the menu. i had a cheese vadapav with piping hot tea with a set of theplas. all of it was great and i feel that this place is highly underrated for the qualityfoodit serves. a definite place to visit with your friends if you are "not too hungry, not too full".

this is one of the few places in cbe where you can chill with friends, eat goodfoodand still not be too cruel on your wallet. the chai here is one of the best, aromatic, sweet enough, and just the way i like it,(as most of you will too, i'm sure :) ) the vada pav is reminiscent of the ones i have had in mumbai, served even with the semi-fried chillies, altogether a good place to hang out.
