both my entree and main were off the specials board, a quail salad, and then a hangar steak served with risotto (an odd combination but it worked). my dessert was the chocolate and hazelnut mousse bars, fresh berries and chocolate sauce. amazing but a huge serving. there were two mousse bars, which i didn’t need, i had to convince j to help me. i would recommend sharing this dish.

the seared ahi was especially good.

this was a last minute find for us on our first night in napa. they squeezed us in and it was so worth it. just a short walk from our hotel and right downtown. the food choices were great (i’m a vegetarian and my partner is not) and we literally could not decide. the service was phenomenal and our server was filling our drinks before we even knew we needed it. the food was top shelf and some of the best we have had. i literally stuffed my godiva coffee and a few bites of the amazing pie but honestly, being full has never been so worth it. highly recommend!!!

napa is a small cozy town, with loads of dining options. after a lot of research & reading, we decided on celadon - and it was indeed a great choice. made a reservation, but arrived slightly early. so got seated at the bar for a drinks and nibbles.

ordered a few cocktails - and the bartender was pretty much generous with his alcohol quantity ;) of course, is a good thing. ordered the calamari & mussels for small plates. both were so fresh and so tasty. the calamari sauce was a little on the sweeter side, but the pickled ginger complemented it so well. the mussels were nice too, someone a couple of the mussels seemed uncooked & strange - so just left that aside on the plate.

by this time we were moved to our dinner table outside. ordered the pasta of the day - which was a pulled beef pasta with mushroom and the the beef jus. not typically italian - but delicious! extraordinary! outstanding!! i could go on about this dish. the meat was so tender, it fell apart with just the touch of the fork, and melted in your mouth. even a person who dislikes pasta, would love this dish.

service was great again. no complains about that.

apparently, i have a celadon colored shirt on. : ). the small plate we got included mussels with bacon. initially, loved the concept, but the earthy fresh water taste of the mussels didn't mix well with the salty, smoked taste of the bacon. just didn't work for some reason. cool idea though. i also had the celadon sangria. not as sweet as i'm used to but also a bit stronger, not as fruity. the celadon cocktail is yummy - citrusy with elderflower. caesar salad, also fairly good. crisp, fresh, great cheese, croutons - no complaints. now for the main course: akaushi flat iron steak, grilled yukon potatoes, tatsoi, cucumbers, blue cheese and salsa verde. can't wait. ok, disappointing news on the steak. unfortunately, the salsa verde ruined the meal. the steak was cooked perfectly, the potatoes were yummy although maybe a little under cooked, but the combination with the salsa verde ruined it. it overpowered the great steak flavor instead of enhancing it. they comped us for the crème brulee since we weren't sure about the mussels. that was very nice. service was great but they forgot to bring extra bread when asked - although were incredibly attentive otherwise. ambiance was wonderful. with different entrees, i'm sure this would have been a 5.0.

we had a fantastic time at this restaurant. the ambiance was lovely, the outdoor but partly sheltered setting was beautiful. i had lamb shank with cous cous. the lamb was well cooked and the cous cous light and fragrant. the lemon meringue pie was good. service was excellent. we would certainly return

this is the best restaurant i have experienced in a long time, in napa and around the world. generous portions and great service. we loved everything, but especially the calamari and zinfandel!

another great restaurant in the historic napa mill, next to the napa river. enjoy your meal of global comfort food inside, or outside in the sheltered courtyard. crab cakes, endive and pear salad, top sirloin steak, and the 5-spice duck breast are winners here. sister restaurant to cole’s chop house just a few blocks away.

this item was made to order for my 12 year old brother because he didn't not prefer the ingredients that went into the hanger steak special...so before we even ordered the waitress helped him to choose what he would like to create his own special hanger steak dish...and this picture is of what came out of the kitchen, he could not stop raving about how delicious his meal was and even let me try a tiny bit of it and the steak melted in your mouth.

a napa favorite. have dined there several times and have always enjoyed our dinners. i really enjoyed the calamari appetizer on both visits. not outrageously prized like some other napa spots that have white table cloths.

a tip: order a small bottle of white wine to go with the first half of your dinner then they will wave the corkage fee for a bottle you can bring in from tasting in the valley earlier. that makes this a huge bargain!
