best ever. generally speaking, although i love grilled meat, bbq sauce is lost on me. it's always too sweet, too sour, too salty, something.cap'ssauce is perfection.

on top of that, they have, hands down, the best pork chop you will ever eat. pork is easy to dry out, especially on the grill. not here. not ever. it's bone in, juicy again, perfection.

i never hesitate to recommend this place, and i doubt i ever will. never seen a waitress with flip flops either - however - as long as she doesn't serve my dinner with her feet - i can't imagine it could ruin the best bbq in minneapolis, and quite possibly the best bbq in the state!

this one won't blow your socks off by any means, but if you're really hankering grill food and too lazy to make your own, cap'swill do. they're specialty is actually pork chops, not so much bbq, but the ribs are fair. simple, not impressive sides, but very nice staff.

pro-tip: eat on the patio or take it to go, as the inside feels kinda of like a renovated fast food joint.

unforgettable bbq!. ever since my first days there washing out the massive pot that don made the bbq sauce in every morning (seriously, could fit 2 or 3 3year old children in it!), and trying out my first steps in the resturant business, i can not find a bbq sauce that i like better!

i have eaten at just about every bbq joint in the metro area, and tried my best to have an open mind, but in all honesty, they all fall short.cap'sbbq sauce is the best! on everything!
there are a few things that might not catch your attention when you think about this mom and pop owned bbq joint, let me point them out to you from a point of view that has seen the back of the house and how things are made:
bbq sauce is made in house every morning (the bottled sauce that is available now was not 15 years ago, however some standards never go down), and only 1 or 2 people aside from don know the recipe :-)
the baked beans are made in house - at one point using just a bit of their bbq sauce for the little "extra" flavor that you can taste just a hint of.
they have peperjack cheese - when you find yourself sitting in the red-covered chairs looking over the menu, and you just can't quite make up your mind, try the peperjack cheeseburger with your side as the baked beans - its a combination of complete heaven (of course you just have to dip the edge of the burger into the beans)!
another thing - when you go in for breakfast, the majical stuff that is put onto your pancakes is maple-butter, make sure to ask for extra, you will not need even a pinch of syrup!
the ribs and pork chops really are smoked for many hours before they are put on the grill for your order, and the stacker and texas style stacker really are made in house as well (it takes forever to pull apart the pork from the huge slabs when it comes out of the oven).

all in all, this family owned resturant is really awesome, the people who are there genuinely care about their customers, they care about how your experience is while dining with them, and they will do their best to remember you when you return. the food (especially the bbq sauce) is amazing, in part for the seasonings/preparation technique, but in part because it is made with love. you will never find a plate/platter coming out of the window looking as if it has been "thrown" together, your food will not be delivered to you cold, or with huge errors from how you ordered; all because these people really do care.

over the years, i have brought my family tocap'sto eat, at first it was when i was a young teenager (coming in on my day off), then as a parent with my young son, and nowadays with my spouse and all of our children. there is something really special about cap's!

solid bbq, great onion rings. we have been driving bycap'sfor quite some time and have always wanted to stop. we really enjoy bbq, so we decided to give it a go last saturday. first off, the place is really small. it seems a lot bigger from the outside. another thing, they do not serve alcohol, which didn't bother my pregnant wife, but i always enjoy beer with my ribs. we ordered a rack of ribs and the pulled pork sandwich, along with some fries and onion rings. one disappointment was that they were out of baked potatoes. the menu says they are not available until 5pm and we were there at 7, so either they are really good or they just don't make enough. the ribs were nice and meaty with a nice char. the bbq sauce is kind of their signature, with a touch of sweet. it adds a nice component to the ribs but not overpowering the meat. i ordered the pulled pork "tennessee style" which helped add some moisture to the pork as it was kind of dry, but combined with the bbq sauce, it was a good sandwich. last but not least, the onion rings were some of the best i have had in a long time. they were cooked perfectly with the right amount of batter. most of the tables around us had also ordered the rings, so it is definitely worth it to get a basket.

it's all about the tennessee style!. if you have a hankerin' for bbq, i highly recommend you head over tocap'sfor a "stacker". it's their pulled pork sandwich slathered in sauce, but you have to get it tennessee style (with coleslaw on top). oh so good! always friendly and prompt service too.
