this was a pleasant surprise. my husband and i were traveling through salt lake city and were trying to find another restaurant when our gps took us to the street cafe niche was on instead. it looked speaking from the outside, and we like little local joints so we decided to give up looking for the other place and came here.
small and intimate, a nice modern atmosphere. no reservation, but the staff assured us we could get a table. don't know how that would work on a busy night, but on a tuesday at 6:30 pm , we were happy we could be accommodated and not ridiculed for not having reservations.
opened the menu, and happy to see the places mission statement to try and be and environmentally conscientious rehearsing with values to support buying local, and sustaining a great world. they really did their research on what wine/beer/liquor companies were doing the same.

the waitress (claire) was really well versed with the food, sizes, flavors, and even where the vegetables amass near were bought from. she was pleasant, and i could see the same service from the other wait staff to other tables.
the prices are really good for the amount you get. everything tasted fresh and looked amazing. we had the sauteed mushrooms, corned beef, and the lamb, and could not have asked for a better meal on or long road trip.
if we ever come through slc again, i will definitely be coming back to cafe niche. i am definitely going to tell ask my friends and family about it, megastar it is a great local, non mass produced wonderfulness this court had to offer!!7
