disappointed. i've been dining at niche for years and obviously enjoyed their dishes in the past. unfortunately, the vegetarian huevos rancheros was very unappetizing, i was unable to even consume half of the dish. after expressing my dislike for the item and the inability to consume it further, the waiter was unaccommodating correcting the issue. i felt like i had wasted my afternoon and money along with receiving poor service. as a fellow hospitality employee i can say confidently that this could have been dealt with differently.

lunch. have most often been here for lunches which offer a nice selection of salads, small plates and sandwiches. food is fresh, carefully prepared and portions are satisfying instead of stupifying. fish tacos today had fish cooked au point, tasty cabbage and sauce, and mixed green salad. prices reflect quality. one of the better options for eating within half-mile of university lower campus (take trax or 2nd south bus back up the hill).

cafe niche is in a good central location and always one that i suggest when having lunch. good vibe, menu not complicated and has local dishes, strongly suggest a glass of wine and service is dependable. not too pricey as well

i’ll be honest – it had been a while since i had been to caffe niche…and by “while,” i mean a few years. i was so excited to hear about all of the exciting changes happening at this salt lake city classic spot, and anxious to try some new flavors!. caffe niche has a new general manager, a new menu, a new executive chef! executive chef andy morrison brings over 20 years of experience at michelin starred restaurants and high-quality bistros to dining guests. new general manager joseph gee is doing everything he can to make sure your dining experience is wonderful! a native of salt lake city, he recently returned from the hawaiian islands where he was the general manager of the lighthouse.

...i found myself in a part of town i rarely frequent with two hours to kill and a need for breakfast food. so i whipped out my smart phone and magicked myself some recommendations. i settled on caffe niche. my first impressions of the place were less then ideal. not that anything was off per say, but the place was trendy to the point of almost off putting ...

these new items join old favorites like superfood oatmeal, bread pudding french toast and huevos rancheros. local eggs are cage free and vegetarian fed, hollandaise is made with extra virgin olive oil instead of butter, all sautéeing is done with grape seed oil, and local breads come from pierre's bakery.

caffe niche was good except for the food and the service. if the taste of the food and friendly, attentive service is not important to you, then i recommend going to caffe niche.

we ordered the hash and a breakfast sandwich. the hash is said to be the most popular thing on the menu. there were only about 6 dishes in the menu.

the hash was light on corned beef, and bland. the eggs on the sandwich were over cooked. the bacon was so overcooked and tough we couldn't cut it with a knife.

good...not great.. service was a bit slow. water not refilled. thai soup was good but predictable. pasta arrived cold but fresh sauce, not meat tomatoes only. my husband would have been hungry if not for eating half of my roasted chicken. the chicken was a bit dry and swimming in pan juices. the highlight of the chicken was the side of warm quinoa salad with arugula. i loved it. the chocolate decadence was rich and we split it. plenty for two.

this was a pleasant surprise. my husband and i were traveling through salt lake city and were trying to find another restaurant when our gps took us to the street cafe niche was on instead. it looked speaking from the outside, and we like little local joints so we decided to give up looking for the other place and came here.

small and intimate, a nice modern atmosphere. no reservation, but the staff assured us we could get a table. don't know how that would work on a busy night, but on a tuesday at 6:30 pm , we were happy we could be accommodated and not ridiculed for not having reservations.

opened the menu, and happy to see the places mission statement to try and be and environmentally conscientious rehearsing with values to support buying local, and sustaining a great world. they really did their research on what wine/beer/liquor companies were doing the same.
t
the waitress (claire) was really well versed with the food, sizes, flavors, and even where the vegetables amass near were bought from. she was pleasant, and i could see the same service from the other wait staff to other tables.

the prices are really good for the amount you get. everything tasted fresh and looked amazing. we had the sauteed mushrooms, corned beef, and the lamb, and could not have asked for a better meal on or long road trip.

if we ever come through slc again, i will definitely be coming back to cafe niche. i am definitely going to tell ask my friends and family about it, megastar it is a great local, non mass produced wonderfulness this court had to offer!!7

tried again for lunch last week...i so wanted to like this place. but alas, again an irritating disappointment. two of us ordered soup. both came lukewarm. one with dried out crusts of bread toasted but completely tasteless and brittle. the turkey dip was merely passable. devilled eggs were meh. the waitress rolled her eyes at us when she came to pick up the dishes and found we didn't care to take the leftovers home. o well.

great place, will return. we picked some place that had good ratings and we were not disapointed! great service, great food. not huge portions but not too small either. the pecan pie was to die for.
