laissez-faire service, inconsistent. i live fairly close to this restaurant so i've tried it on several occasions, 3 times for lunch and once yesterday for brunch on sunday. it seems like the kitchen is typically on track but this restaurant comes across as one where there is not a front of the house manager. the hostess usually does not come out to greet customers by the sign asking customers towaitthere, usually you have to go and find her and on every occasion i've been there customers are always asking each other if they've been helped yet--maybe because there are not enough bussers because she also helps clean up and set the tables, but then incoming customers get neglected and it's very disorganized. on 3 out of 4 occasions service was slow and underwhelming, so having poor service 75% of the time is not enough to keep a customer no matter what the other charms are. on another occasion servers were standing around talking loudly in the bar area about their personal lives, which of course would be fine as long as it wasn't in front of or where customers can hear--it came across as very unprofessional. i've given this restaurant several shots because of the wider variety of vegetarian options. yesterday was the first time the food was bad, every other time it's been great, but yesterday my eggs for the osage scramble were so overcooked they were actually rubbery and my husband's breakfast sandwich was cold. we waited 10 minutes to get waters and 25 minutes for our drinks, no exaggeration. our server joked that the bartender would get to it eventually and laughed nervously. even a beginning bartender in a completely packed restaurant is faster. i think if youwaitthat long someone should initiate taking something of your bill, but my husband would just rather never go back than complain or ask for that. there are just too many other restaurants that have great food and organized, professional service.

overall a decent experience. the food was great and tasted fresh. cheese grits and bison sausage were very tasty. having towaitover an hour for our group of six to be seated at 10 on a sunday morning, and waiting another hour for our food to come after ordering did not make it so great. it's definitely worth going if you avoid high traffic times, but i wouldn'twaitanother hour to eat there again.

first time there, will definately be back. went there for the first time on november 20th, for sunday brunch. the hostess was busy at the moment, so one of the friendlywaitstaff went ahead and put my name down on the list. they said it would be a 10 minute wait...i was seated in less than that.
jessica was our waitress and she was very friendly and helpful in explaining the daily specials, not to mention she was at our table promptly with waters to start us off.. i had the multigrain pancakes with some sort of sweet, pumpkin yumminess to pour over them. fantastic! i highly recommend them.
my friend and i were there for almost an hour after our meal was finished and they kindly let us stay to chat, jessica continued to refill our waters.
my experience was extremely pleasant, having the garden center there to wander around in while waiting for our table was very nice.....i will definately be back again.

s-l-o-w. i've been there three times now and each time the service has been so slow. i am a vegetarian now and had the roasted vegetable sandwich. (not many vegetarian choices by the way). the vegetables were not distributed very well and only one half of the sandwich had enough of them on it. my friend ordered a roast pork sandwich and this was very sparse also. when i asked for more of the vegetables they did bring them and then proceeded to charge me $4.00 more on my bill.
two of us were diabetic and asked for a few crackers while we were waiting as thewaitwas so long. she brought potato chips and also charged us for that.
there is no problem in having to see the nursery because you will have plenty of time while you are waiting for the food. we timed the delivery of our meal at 45 minutes after we ordered it. we were there 30 minutes before we even were able to order.
i have no desire to go back. for my money there is better food and service elsewhere.

flavorful food, charming character, but alas, stinky service.. believe me, i would love to while the afternoon away in the sunstreamed, wavy glass windows of cafe osage's exposed brick restaurant. but, i don't have 2 hours for lunch.

i have dined here on three occasions and enjoyed all dishes. the mediterranean platter, comprised of scoops of white bean spread, hummus, a basil spread and warm goat cheese, looked and tasted delightful. the brielt offered a nicely balanced combination of sweet and savory. the apricot and poached pear salad is something i must figure out how to make at home, it's that tasty.

however, the service is absolutely l-o-u-s-y! inattentive. somewhat clueless. slower than slow. really lacking from the intial ordering of a beverage to the clearing of the plates. in fact, the speediest part of the meal was paying the bill. in two hours, i should have been able to eat lunch and then stroll through the nursey for a bit. but, instead, i had to rush back to work.

i'll likely give cafe osage one more try....i hope thewaitand kitchen staff can get its act together. if not, the cwe offers oh-so-many dining alternatives.

terrible. i was so disappointed in today's experience. i love the nursery but restaurant was terrible. longwaitwhich was ok as we browsed. when we finally sat we did get water and ordered right away. 1 hour later no food and no explanation. when food finally came my order was wrong. my friends had eggs with salmon, cream cheese and capers. no capers. the waiter took my plate without saying a thing. i said i hoped it wouldn't take as long as it originally had. we called hostess over to inquire about capers. she acted like we were being a pain. she said she would get the manager and then came back and said manager on cooking line and too busy to speak with us. no one ever apologized and they acted like it was our problem not theirs. it will be too bad if marginal food and crappy service reflect badly on bowoods. not sure if they are owned and run by same entity.
