elegant sunday brunch. went for brunch with friends on the weekend. will go back.

the food: amazingly light, fluffy, tasty multi grain pancakes with scrumptuous strawberry/rhubarb compote. so good, tw wants them again, six hours later, while writing this review. egg scramble with cheese over potatoes and topped with microgreens was not as outstanding and could have used a bit of a kick but was lovely.

the vibe: charming space, maybe a bit too busy on a weekend morning. love how they present the check! the restaurant is part of bowood farms, a lovelygardencenter, so the setting couldn't be prettier.

my husband and i stumbled upon this place because it was located one block from our air bnb. we ate breakfast here twice in three days! friendly staff, attentive service, cutegardenatmosphere, and amazing food. fresh and cooked to perfection. i had the greens, eggs and ham our first visit and scrambled eggs, cheese grits, and bison sausage the second. my husband tried the steak and blue corn biscuit with fiery peach jam mixed with goat cheese as a spread. our only regret is that our stomachs weren't large enough to eat more! we wish we could pack this place up and take it back to fayetteville, ar with us.

i love eggs benedict and cafe osage does not usually have one on its menu. but today they offered a deliciousgardeneb special. i'm an eggs benedict traditionalist so i worried - unnecessarily it turned out - about ordering eb without meat or hollandaise sauce. the luscious beefiness of the heirloom tomato supported by a thin spread of (neufchatel?) cheese replaced the ham and fresh creamed corn banished hollandaise from my mind. it was a beautiful dish too, topped off with a sprinkle of micro greens.

first time there, will definately be back. went there for the first time on november 20th, for sunday brunch. the hostess was busy at the moment, so one of the friendly wait staff went ahead and put my name down on the list. they said it would be a 10 minute wait...i was seated in less than that.
jessica was our waitress and she was very friendly and helpful in explaining the daily specials, not to mention she was at our table promptly with waters to start us off.. i had the multigrain pancakes with some sort of sweet, pumpkin yumminess to pour over them. fantastic! i highly recommend them.
my friend and i were there for almost an hour after our meal was finished and they kindly let us stay to chat, jessica continued to refill our waters.
my experience was extremely pleasant, having thegardencenter there to wander around in while waiting for our table was very nice.....i will definately be back again.

what is happening to cafe osage?. we have been going to osage since it opened, and have loved the atmosphere and the food. we enjoy thegardenshop andgardenproducts. we have taken many friends there and referred many there. but, what has happened to the kitchen and the food preparation? when your original chef left(the one who made the smoked trout), it seemed that the food began to decline in preparation and care. when we ordered the fruit and cheese plate it arrived without any cheese. the waiter came back with 3 pieces of one kind of cheese. the veggie sandwich has come without any cheese. service has become very slow.

my husband and i feel badly about this, and i am writing this letter in good faith that you will recognize that it is such a shame to see any decline in your delightful venture. we admire what the owners of bowood farms have done in their investment in the central west end, and wish the best for them and all involved. thank you.

breakfast / lunchgardenspot. where else can you grab an amazing breakfast (or delicious lunch) and purchase plants & accessories for the garden? food is simple, utilizing local ingredients, and the atmosphere is bright & comfortable. staff is friendly and accommodating. i recommend the french toast and daily risotto special.

heavenly neighborhood cafe. attached to agardencenter, this wonderful restaurant benefits from vegetables and herbs grown on site, not to mention all of the other ingredients are selected from small local purveyors. lovely warm ambiance, small space, v friendly staff, and inviting music all combine to make this the best breakfast and lunch establishment in st louis (no dinner as yet). highly recommended!!
