consistently fabulous!. cafe max is consistently fabulous. we order weekly and bring it home. the salad recipes never veer from their superb flavors, and the quiches are must-have items at our parties. the place is clean, and the people are real and friendly. muffins are a heavenly bit of lagniappe! we do take-out, but dine-in or take-out; either way, you win!

too expensive and shrinking portion sizes. i've been going to cafe max for more than a dozen years, since they were located over off of campbell and plano rd.

lately, in the past 2-3 years, during the worst downturn in the economy in the past 50 years, they have raised their prices on several occasions. maybe it's just me, but the portion sizes seem smaller too.

when they charge $8.12 for a half & half cesar and cucumber salad (no meat or seafood) that's getting out of hand.

between their cash or amex only policy, their difficult to get to location, their tight parking lot, which at lunch is nightmare to navigate and now their prices being raised once again, i think i'll have to find another salad bar.

sorry cafe max, in this recession you've priced yourself out of my budget

this review is based completely on how badly i was treated today by the general manager not the food. the food has always been great. i have been visiting this location for about 15 years.. my companies office is actually 1 block over so cafe max has been one of our go to places for lunch for a long time. well today i went in to get lunch and placed my order but when i went to pay the lady told me she could except my card because it didnt have a chip. well i recently lost my bank card so i have a temp card until my new one comes in the mail. i advised the card could be swiped and she showed me that the slot is taped up so i advised it could be entered manually and she responded that she didnt have time. as you can imagine that wasnt the response i was looking for. at this point i asked for the manager. i never thought that asking for the manager could make my experience today worse because managers are supposed to help resolve issues right? well not this guy. from the time he stepped up to the register and cut me off before i could even explain the issue completely all the way to the point where i told him how bad of a manager he was, he acted like a complete jerk with absolutely no customer service skills or compassion for his customers. did he say "man that stinks to lose your bank card let me see what i can do"?? no he didnt!! he just repeated over and over "we only accept cards with chips" i offered to show him my id, his response was "we only accept cards with chips" i told him he could enter it manually, his response was "we only accept cards with chips" and then he added "and we only enter it manually if the chip fails". so let me understand this.. you can enter the card manually but will only do so if the chip fails, not to help out a paying customer that has been buying food from you for 15+ years who had the misfortune of losing his bank card. so yeah the food is always good but you have to be willing to be made to feel like your unimportant as a customer. no thanks!! id rather go to the corner gas station for a frozen burrito where my business is appreciated and the customer service skill set is far superior to what this so called "general manager" displayed today.

excellent place for salad and sandwich. café max is located in an office –industrial section of richardson. upon entering you will find a cafeteria type line where you will be served your order. the items available include eight salads, a couple of soups and sandwiches. the service is quick. after going through the line you pay for your meal and drink and you will be offered a cup cake or roll complimentary. i ordered the small caesar salad as did my spouse and the salad was very large. if i had purchased the large salad it would have covered the entire plate. there are 7 more salads from which to choose and you can even get a sampler that includes a tasting of all eight salads.

soup and salads plus, quiche are available. the cost of soup and salad is $6.75 and the price for a quiche plate is $8.50. one half salad was $3.75.sandwiches include chicken & provolone, roast beef & cheddar, ham & swiss, turkey & cheddar and italian hoagie.there is also a fresh fruit plate.

there is seating both inside and out. the inside of the restaurant is bright and clean. on a good weather day you might want to consider the outside seating. there are soft drinks available plus lemonade and two different teas. the green tea was excellent. you don’t have to clean your table as there is a bus boy that will come around to do that.

this is a very nice clean restaurant. there is an open ceiling which does contribute to a little higher noise level, however it is not unbearable. they take credit cards. located on a corner with the parking lot in the front and side will provide ample parking. restrooms were clean. only open m-f 11am to 3pm. you can locate them on the internet at www.cafemax.com

love, love, love my cafe max! food is excellent. portions are huge. i agree w other reviewer, they have a way to go on "customer service". although, the first lady behind the counter has customer service. the others, not so much. they don't realize they are the "face" of cafe max. it seems like it is just a job to them.

salad with salad. you know that humungo salad bar over at fogo de chao? this is a whole restaurant (well, lunch mostly) like that. they have a few sandwiches, a soup and a quiche or two as well, but mostly its about the salads! really good salads! any salad combination you can think of, they got. like eric says atmosphere is hospital cafeteria style. prices are just a tad high and they only take cash or amex. (whats that about? these guys are stuck in the 60's i think. don't they know our wives never let us have cash?) anyway, if you're doin' the lite lunch thing, this is the place. the location is a little odd just off of greenville at n. collins, and the parking is usually good. "hey, can i get a salad to go with this salad?"

cash or amex only.... while there is a an atm outside, it always sneaks up on me when we go and i have no cash in line.
as another reviewer noted, the salad nazi's unite at cafe max...pretty good salads, very clean and hospital-like inside.

the original salad nazis. food is good, not good enough to put up with staff's attitude and stupidity. i think they only accept rubbles as payment.

one of my favorite places. cafe max has some great salads, my favs being pasta, seafood, chicken and caesar. i usually get the trio, which includes your choice of 3. they also have some really great muffins that i just love, taste like zucchini bread. i really appreciate the fact that they give you so much food.
