cafe maurice

bad service today, jan 11 2014. food good as always. service has been declining since last summer. the owner does not enough help. too bad this situation has been allowed to happen.

service. i come in the cafe all the time and love the food and usually enjoy the service. unfortunately mandy a waitress who obviously doesn't like her job, waited on me last night. every time we sit in her section we hear her making rude comments about requests we have made as she walks off. i'm not sure why because were not making outlandish requests and it is her job to serve her tables. i like the food and atmosphere but don't want to come eat somewhere where i'm made to feel like a bother. the managers should really pay attention to her as i'm sure we're not the only customers unhappy with her service.

the food was amazing but the service sucked. no one smiled or greated us. our waitress was talking to other waiters while we were trying to say our order. she dropped our drinks off without saying a word instead of taking our order and walked away. she was coming off as irritated when i asked about the menu because it was my first time there. i was a waitress for five years so i know good service and cafe maurice had very poor service. i hope chef ramsey doesn't ever show up because he would love the food but hate the service!

good service, needs front of house management. i've been here a number of times. what brings me back is the food (loaded humus for example). the food always tastes great and is reasonably priced. what shoehorns weeks or months between my visits is the total disaster that is the front of house. the wait staff is plenty nice but they are without a doubt the most disorganized group i've ever encountered.

the first time i went there the waitress couldn't get our orders right. i told her what i wanted (beef kabobs). she then took my girlfriend's order. then repeated chicken kabobs to me which i corrected. then repeated my girlfriend's order to her which wasn't right. then repeated chicken kabobs to me yet again and again i corrected her. she never wrote anything down. in the end i got one each of chicken and beef. she dropped off the food and we never saw her again. we never got refills for anyone including the person that appeared to be the manager. she was too preoccupied chatting it up (loudly) with the tables around us, sitting and gabbing the whole time we were there. we finally had to ask another waitress for our bill.

our most recent visit was for lunch. the food again was great but there was no one seating people. we just happened to get pointed towards a table after standing in the doorway for a few minutes. from the corner of the room we had a great view of the front door and of the dozen or so groups of people that came in, waited to be seated, got no service whatsoever, turned and walked out. on the way out we finally noticed a menu stand in the entryway between the 2 sets of doors that said to seat yourself. total cluster.

get a good front of house manager and train the staff and this place will excel. leave it like this and you'll always have love/hate reviews from people who had hot/cold experiences there.

fany mediterranean. good food, high prices but well worth it. nice atmosphere and very elegant. a great place for groups dinning. my only complaint is the hummus. good but not great. i brought my family there for my 20 th birthday. they all enjoyed it very much. i would like to see more lamb on the menu, but it is great even so.

great food. reasonable prices. good service. i come to wichita often for business. this is my favorite mediterranean restaurant. highly recommended.

the falafel sandwich was probably the best we have sampled in wichita. sometimes the mashed and fried chickpeas that comprise falafel can be bland, but this particular fried delight was spot on.

the food and service were wonderful! want to go back and enjoy more of their food.

love this place. every time i'm in wichita i eat at cafe marice at least once a week. the chicken skewers, roasted veggies, and fatoush are just fab. my sis loves the tabouli salad. the hummus is soo good and so is the baba ghanoush!

atmosphere is nice. service is quick and courteous.

food was fair. i had high hopes for this place especially since it is close to my place of work. five of us from work went there for lunch. each of us ordered something different and we sampled each other's food. everyone was in full agreement that the food was just fair. needless to say, we won't be back. we will drive a bit further to go to n&j, it's worth it.

love it!. therese took care of us many times where she previously worked, and we grew to love her! we are thrilled that she can now express herself in a place of her own! she personally takes care that her clientelle have a great dining experience. great food, great ambience and all at a great price! this place is a winner for sure. my favorite there? the hummus plate--the best hummus around!!

poor management. waitstaff is very sweet and food is good, however i overheard the a male owner telling one of the waitresses to quit getting fat and that she needs to lose weight because she is fatter than him!? she noticed that i heard him and i could see that she was very uncomfortable with the situation... absolutely unacceptable... for this reason i will not return nor will i be giving any future reccomendations to my friends!

like it but....... i ordered the maurices chicken sandwich. sandwich was mostly slaw which was good but very little chicken on the sandwich. wife ordered the mixed grill kabobs. chicken and tenderloin good. kaftka was ok at best, which is ground beef on a stick, but just nothing to write home about. her salad was small and overdressed. hummus just ok and lacking pine nuts. glad we went there but i'm afraid it was built up too much for us and not sure if we will go back. guess we were expecting more. sorry this is against the grain of trendy thoughts.

delicious!. wonderful service. really great food. (the chicken shwarma is the best i've ever eaten (and it's beautiful on the plate.) the vegetable curry has just the right amount of spice, with perfectly tender vegetables. i can't wait to come back!
