a great little café! my family and i spent a night in ballarat and found this café whilst looking for our first meal when we arrived. we ordered from the breakfast menu and they were delicious. i had the tuki sausages which was really nice, the mushrooms were perfectly cooked and had such flavour, as did the grilled tomato and hashbrown. my mum had the greek lamb sausages which came with mash, green beans and brocoli i think. she loved it too. was disappointed as i initially wanted to order the special garlic prawn risotto and they had sold out, but to be fair it was almost 2pm when we arrived. we tried the green tea matcha latte which was only alright, more milk than matcha taste. we ended up coming back the next day and i managed to get the last portion of the risotto (at 1pm). was really nice and not too heavy, highly recommend it. so if you're in ballarat, stop by cafe lekker and you won't be disappointed! service is good too and we didn't wait long both days we were there and it was the weekend. will be returning next time i'm in ballarat! and i'll make sure i get in early so i can get that rissoto again! :)

for a small café located away from the dining strip of sturt street, café lekker is one busy establishment. the food here is well done - the breakfast of poached eggs, salmon and avocado is plentiful and tasty. special mention must go to the hollandaise, which managed to convert a staunch non-hollandaise-ee. iced chocolate was a terrible chocolate syrup concoction; admittedly ordering an iced chocolate as an adult was cause enough to send out such a dreadful drink.
service is friendly (if a little chaotic, with our table receiving four different wait staff), and coped on a very busy, hot and noisy morning. the café is kitted out in a strange mix of kitsch and cool, and whilst i'm not sure if they pull it off, there would be hoards of regulars ready to disagree with me.
overall a recommended eatery for regular meals that are cooked well. avoid if you're dining with someone hard of hearing.

use turkish bread or normal toast - not sour dough so you might be disappointed. cafe is a bit run down and they need a renovation. staff are hit and miss but most listen to your needs and are happy to serve you. menu has been the same for god knows how long. they do offer gf bread (not mentioned on menu). coffee is hit and miss

egg florentine and coffees for breakfast on a cold spring morning was a perfect hit. positive environment, laughing staff and quick service made it a great start of the day.

very large breakfast menu, meals were served very quickly and service was prompt and attentive. i do feel that the lady with the orange shaded glasses needs a serious lesson in how to smile, all our interactions with her were cold and uninviting and i'd probably have scored higher if she actually showed some genuine interest in her customers.

overall a very good cafe with some great tasting food and reasonable pricing, would absolutely be back again!

what makes lekker so special is that they're happy to add extras and customise your breakfast how you want it. sounds basic but so many cafes get this wrong. so you can order the poached eggs (which are brilliant) and then add a bunch of extras. good stuff.v

delicious food!. on a recent visit to ballarat i had lunch at cafe lekker - highly recommend - the calamari salad. melt in your mouth calamari and the right mix of flavours and salad. i returned the next day for breakfast - good options and good coffee.

amazing coffee, food and service with a smile!. as a regular customer of cafe lekker i have to say i absoulutely love it. the food is always delicious, the coffee is always amazing (especially when james and bri make it :p) and the service is always friendly- even when it is busy. it's easy to see why this place is always so busy.

great customer service but rude customers. i was a customer in cafe lekker the other day and witnessed another customer abusing the lady serving him calling her an idiot! all wait staff were calm and dealt with the customer extremely well! but people working in hospitality aren't there to be other people's boxing bags! all staff at cafe lekker are tremendous no matter what they have to deal with! completely professional!

not impressed. here's a riddle: if you ask for gluten free eggs benedict and they say yes, we can do that but when they bring out the meal the sauce is to the side of the plate and may contain traces of gluten, is this still eggs benedict or just bacon and eggs?

if you say you're gluten free friendly, making hollondaise sauce from scratch gluten free is a simple thing to offer.

p.s. dourest waiter (and barista) ever encountered.
