best for a grab-to-go. thefoodis basic salad picks. adding extras is overpriced for the portion sizes. but overall the service is friendly. there is a refrigerator to grab prepackaged salads and drinks, and an area at the back dedicated to wine bottles - although i'm not altogether sure why a place like this is big on its wine - that's cape town for you i guess ;)

i will say the coffee is gorgeous!!! mmmm even as an espresso it still resonates a creamy almost smoked chocolate and vanilla, and is a blend from three countries - i think peru, tanzania and cambodia if i'm not mistaken

i came to cafe frank on easter monday for breakfast with a friend visiting ct as the rest of bree street was closed. the service was terrible, the fact that they had little in stock didn't bother me but the fact that i was treated as though i was to blame was. thefoodwas expensive, stingy and sub standard. thefoodtook ages, stuff was brought and taken away with out any explanation. we were not the only table who left disappointed that day

was very dissatisfied here. felt very ripped off.

thefoodis extremely overpriced and not any good. i had a croissant which cost r70 and was so small it was served on a side plate with a napkin! it was almost laughable. my friend had a "gourmet sandwhich" which was flavorless and i had to pay extra to have it on bread instead of a bagel !

when i voiced my opinion to the owner, the answer i got was
" why did you order it then? "
and " the foods organic"

not not very often you have a bad experience like this.

i haven't been back to cafe frank since their renovations, but it's definitely on my to do list. thefoodthere is yummy, and they cater very well for the health conscious and the glutards of the world. their muesli is particularly delish, as are their eggy breakfasts. they have a little bit of a deli section, which usually means you don't leave empty handed.

being opposite jason you would think they might struggle, they don't. at all. and you'll find them just as full - and rightfully so.

cafe frank has an amazing mix of good food, drinks and a pretty sick vibe.

the cafe offers a hybrid experience between a bakery cafe and a quaint coffee house , cafe frank offers amazingfoodcoupled with a very self help atmosphere, merging everyone into the scene.

the pesto chicken bagel was very generously portioned and tasted amazing. i can't wait to go back and try something else on their superb menu.

we tried to eat at jason's across the road, but it was busy. so instead we went to frank's.

this was a cool little joint, nice and laid back, where tables get shared, scented water is on the shelf and a lot of their offerings are displayed proudly on the counter.

i had the quarter roast chicken, with potato and coleslaw. the chicken was a bit dry since it is pre-roasted and then obviously heated up in some way. my friends ordered the chicken and leek pies, and these seemed to be winner meals.

my only semi gripe is how you have to order at the counter. this applies mainly to the coffees and drinks, and not so much to thefood(since you've probably gone to eye what's on offer). but in busier times, in the back of my mind there's always that "risk" that you get up to order and someone has snaked your table or something.

thefoodis okay, the cappuccinos sometimes lack foam, but the managers are actually the problem at cafe frank.

both of the managers i've seen treat their staff with disrespect, and it shows in the customer's service experience. nothing ruins a take-away flat white like the manager shouting at staff over it. unfortunately this isn't an isolated incident: it's more like two out of three times.

with such strong competitors in the area, for cafe frank's sake i really hope something changes soon.

fresh and healthy foods with a lovely salad variety. not cheap, but affordable, thefoodportions are reasonable and the quality is of a high standard, service is a little slow - because they get quite busy over lunch hour. perfect for work lunches, especially if you just want salad and a piece of chicken.
