cafe belong has a great menu, not too overwhelming and comes with a lot of character. each dish showed thought and care and they use all organic ontario grown ingredients – they even make their own bacon! they have homemade syrups for their sodas/teas, which are very yummy. i ordered a mix of lavender and lime soda – fantastic! i stopped in for a quick dinner; this place is very relaxing. my main was so incredible and so unique – i had the seafood stew – this was very healthy and surprisingly filled with kale. they have a “farm to table” approach and i loved it! i would go back again and again – and i will! www.cafebelong.ca seafood stew

limited menu though you won't go wrong with anything on it. sweet and creamy muesli made exciting with a dollop of fresh fruit compote, airy lemon pancakes dusted with icing sugar, perfectly poached eggs under fresh hollandaise sauce all resting on a fluffy english muffin; all excellent choices. can't rate the drinks other than my old-fashioned which tasted great but could have used more of its main ingredient: alcohol.

food was ok. service was terrible. long waits for everything from menus, to cocktails, and food. the menu is small to begin with 6 entrees and they ran out of all the mains we ordered. so we ended up ordering more apps and a couple of mains that were still available.
there were just so many mishaps that it was a really disappointing saturday night dinner.

i was at cafe belong for an event. my server becky was amazing. she was detailed and on the ball. the food was decent, but a little over priced. my biggest issue was that i overheard the head chef swearing at the servers. i won't support a business that treats their staff that way.

cafe belong was chosen for our staff lunch for 25 people. from the start, with planning menu options, to accomodating requests and changes, to the room and set up, the really excellent food, very reasonable fixed menu price, and finally to the attentive and lovely service, the experience was outstanding. special thanks go to miguel, the dining manager, and all of the wait staff. very strong recommendation; i will definitely be back!

our journey begins  at an old factory backyard called evergreen brick works. a factory that once heard many metals clinks, was now buzzing with giggles and chatter of people who were enjoying the warmth of the sun on their skin and indulging in the small pleasures of life.amidst this beautifully dilapidated, abandoned yet lively structure was a quaint little restaurant. with closely nested tables, cafe belong made everyone feel like they belonged to a single great conversation - often about the delicious looking dish on your neighbors table, while  man’s best friend, furry and bright, could be seen basking in the bright sunlight to accentuate what this day was all about.

the ingredients were indeed fresh! the tartine was like an open sandwich. i liked the ingredients on top of the toast but i did think that the toast was over-toasted. the bottom of the toast from both ends were charred black (and thus very crunchy and hard to chew through).

nestled within the evergreen brickworks, café belong benefits from its proximity to the year round farmer’s market. perhaps perusing the fresh food stalls beforehand influenced my meal choice, but their vegetarian dishes sounded fantastic and i didn’t miss an ounce of meat!

replacing ham, the sautéed kale and mushrooms eggs benedict ($23) incorporated plump mushrooms that provided a meaty bite. as the poached egg oozed over everything, the molten yolk was captured into the not overly done kale’s crevices, making for a cleaner dish. a layer of sweet caramelized onions sat on top of the doughy soft buttermilk biscuit; it was a bit sugary for my taste, but thankfully the buttery hollandaise helped to add back a savoury element.

although the frittata ($19) is listed under the “cold kitchen” section of the menu, it still arrives warm. the cubes of roasted butternut squash at the bottom makes

i wish there were more such cafés in toronto. nothing fancy or overrated, just a simple café, very true to the definition of café... the vegetarian flat bread was bursting with flavours, specially tangy tomato, crunch cucumber, and mild sweetness from squash. it was a power-packed sandwich. iced latte was really good because it wasn't overly iced (just the way i prefer) and not sweetened, good for a weekend afternoon after shopping for herbs at evergreen market.

this restaurant is amazing. the menu is fairly small but everything is fresh and cooked with care. all the ingredients are locally sourced and much of it purchased from the farmers market that happens right next to the cafe on the weekends. i went in on a monday afternoon, it was nice and quiet at that time, great for a leisurely lunch.

great experiences. i took my sister for her birthday dinner last fall and she loved it and still raves about it to family, friends and coworkers.

i just brought my another sister and her husband for lunch this week. comments included: this is among the best in the world, best three course vegetarian meal, i want to try more on the menu, the first mouthful was already satisfying, everything was perfect!

i did not know how much of a treasure we have here. we definitely need to put this on the world map of great food places!

always wonderful to see what incredibly passionate chef brad long is up to. a new menu with some old favourites. as always the world here is local. great smoked trout salad with spicy horseradish cream. summer pickled beans and lovely quails eggs. a super braised beef was a hit as well. the st. lawrence salad with brown butter vinaigrette can not leave the menu for good reason.

overpriced. this food is way overpriced for a breakfast. almost $30 for eggs, toast and sausage. not worth it. latte from the counter was good.
