it's canada day so i decided to take my family here. i always come here with my family and friends but today i was not impress at all. there service has always been very good but today service was poorly done. we sat there more then 5min nobody came by. every body that work there would look at us and walked off. i feel that those who work there today just did not want to help there co-worker out or even be at work. i understand it's canada day so its busy but that's when u have more people on the floor.
anyways our server was very nice but she did not take our order, someone else did 10mins later. the food is always good we like our server, she had a smile and was friendly when she brought our food but she was extremely
overwhelm with how many table she had. by the time she check up on us we where done and wanted our bill. overal i still like cactus club hoping this won't happen again. it just suck to sit there for that long and being ignore.

i have been meaning to go to the victoria cactus club cafe for ages but the location at the corner of douglas and fort is not one i think of when thinking of where to get some food. i have been to the one at broadway and ash in vancouver a couple of times and always been impressed.   on saturday afternoon we were in beacon hill park for the photo part of daniels grad dinner and dance and when it finished we stopped at sheila's sisters place who offered to look after max so we could go eat.  i decided this was the day to go to the cactus club. if i did not know the menu was largely created by rob fennie, i would not be going.   the restaurant has a 'party' feel to it, almost a red robin for more sophisticated 25-35 year old people without kids.   i ordered a three course tasting meal, though tasting is not what this was, they were really full portions.   the starter was fried wonton with chicken and then covered in a spicy sweet chill sauce.  it was more than big enough for the two of u

our 'watering hole'. love cactus and the staff, there are healthy options on their menu and are always willing to 'tweak' a dish for you if requested. have a great wine list as well. salads are fantastic and fresh!

our local watering hole for sure, see you friday! ;)

great, as usual!. despite being a franchise, this is one of our favourite places. i really enjoy the pan-pacific fusion menu. everything we've ordered has had superb plate presentation, and wonderful flavour profiles. the service has always been courteous, prompt, and attentive. i also really appreciate the urban-modern decor and ambience. bravo!

good times. went to cactus last friday around 6:30 - 7. we where told it would be 25 mins for a table, sounded right for a friday nite. went for a walk around the block and came back wait 2 mins and a booth was ready. i ordered the mushrooom steak and my gf ordered the roast chicken. edamabe ?!? beans for appy. beans where good, not to salty (what else can u say) and both our mains where fantasic. every bit from booth plates where gone. the service was friendly and helpful but not annoy. any complaints about the way the girls look/dress/ wear makeup need to get a grip. u want ur food served by a rude beast with arm hair dragging in ur soup then go to spoons. like u didnt know what ur where getting ur self into when u went, suck it up, ur ugly and dont take it out on others.. hahaha

see and be seen?. that was how i felt when i went to ccc yaletown. although the ccc victoria is on a prominent corner dwtn it seems like more of a family restaurant. they had a variable menu but i decided to have a light lunch and chose the korean lettuce wrap. once i got over the surprise of virtually a half head of iceberg being placed in front of me i begin to indulge in the little mountains of flavour on my plate...how enjoyable...cannot find one complaint...

i've been a fan of the cactus club cafe (as chain as it is) simply because whenever i eat there, i can always find at least one or two dishes that i will enjoy no matter what. one of those dishes that cactus club cafe never screws up is the jambalaya. whenever i eat at cactus club, you'll probably see me eat this dish simply because i know that whichever cactus club café i eat at, they will do a good job when making the jambalaya (a louisiana creole dish that i love). i'm never disappointed, and my recent visit to the douglas street branch of cactus club was not the exception. great jambalaya, great ambiance and the best part of it was the company of my mom (who was just too tired to go and eat at zambri's). very good service and extremely generous portions made my evening quite pleasant. also, the fact that we were incredibly hungry as we had been in (meetings all day and eating very little. overall, a nice experience as i usually have at cactus club. disclosure: i paid entirely for

not so good.. i went to the restaurant and the food was ok, it was somewhat over priced and i had a fairly good night with my girlfriend despite the fact that the waiter tried to hit on her not once but twice and we had to wait too long for the food. the staff service its not what you would expect from such a nice place.

bad bad bad!. seems to hire only size 4 women and under, the food is scant, and the waitresses all wear to much makeup and do not look professional- as well as the restaurant only caters to a "popular" croud and everyone else seems to be ignored.not worth it!

meh. service was great. the food was good but it seemed overpriced for what you get. i have hear people liken the cactus club to earls - with my one visit at the cactus club i still prefer earls. would return to the club some other time, especially in other cities where choices are limited to the more 'big box' restaurants.

i have had many good experiences here - i think the blackened creole sirloin is one of the beat steaks in town. nice atmosphere, modern, good prices, can't go wrong.
