burger burger

we had lunch at the newly opened burger burger in takapuna yesterday.  we had heard good reports of the other sites so were very much looking forward to it.  we were not disappointed as the the ambience, staff and especially the food were very good.  we chose the lamb burger, pork burger, potato skins, roast broccoli salad, and an amazingly refreshing cucumber & mint soda. the burgers were simple, with lots of very tender juicy slow-cooked meat and condiments that added to the flavour.  the potato skins were divine - golden crispy outside and light and fluffy inside. the roast broccoli was smothered in slices of garlic and almonds  - a great dish.  this is great addition to the cafe scene and we are now looking forward to visiting the sister restaurant, fish fish.
after having a great meal at burger burger a few weeks ago we just had to sample the fish fish side of things. weorderedterakihi (the fish of the day) and snapper, both panko-crumbed, with fries. we also had the pineapple & chilli soda and the juniper, lime & ginger soda. the fish was absolutely fresh, moist and beautifully cooked with golden crisp coatings. the fries were massive agria chunks, perfectly cooked - crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. the sodas were light, clean tasting, and very refreshing. simple dishes perfectly executed - overall hard to fault.

okay lemme just start off with the hot sauce they give you with their kumara fries...talk about a freakin party for your tastebuds!! i'm definitely basing most of my rating just on this sauce hahaha. cannot complain with their sides at all. as for the burgers...i feel that they're a little overrated when you compare the portion sizes with what you're paying. the flavours were tasty though! food arrived in minutes and their menu has a lotta vegetarian options which is always a bonus. the taka burger burger branch is worth a visit!!

we ended up finally trying out burger burger after all the hype.
we were seated immediately.
but definitely weren’t that mind-blown by the burgers. 
prices were decent for the size of the burger but were, expecting a bit more. 

iorderedpull pork burger which the taste was good but for the size / price ratio is disappointing. burger fuel/velvet burger is much better for value.

great presentation, and the fries were lovely.nothing out of the ordinary.not sure whether i would go back in a hurry though 😒

very dry burger... not recommended.. weordered7 burgers out of which 3 of them were not upto the mark. iorderedbeasty vegan burger and it came as beast big size but it was too much of veges and huge patty which was very very dry. i will not recommend this place. also one of the waiter came and disturbed us in middle of our meal.. i know the courtesy askign but they came twice and one of them mocked us... not acceptable behaviour as well.

i apparentlyorderedsalt, but they call it “fish and veggies”. around $85, i mean, what’s in the salt? grinded gold? kylie jenners ear wax? keep in mind i do have a social life (questionable) but there was 2 other dishes and two thirsty mates that made our wallet identical to a chip packet: empty. very very busy though, a night club in disguise i tell you. nothing interesting, nothing wow! spinach was called a “salad” with my fish, and man what on earth did they do to it? felt so dry i’d rather suck on a vacuum. thinking of getting a high paid job to pay off this joke.

the staff were friendly but the wait for the food was much too long. i think we waited 45 minutes for a 2x burgers and sides at 2pm. they could have at least brought the fries out initially so we could have something to pick at while we waited. the vegetarian burger my partnerorderedwas very good but the vegan burger was the opposite. it was dry, flavourless, had no sauce in it and the bun had the texture of a sponge. i’m not one to waste food but i couldn’t finish it. it’s 2019 - vegan meals don’t have to be bland anymore.

wow, it is the worst burger place in north shore in my opinion. the bun is really dry and cold. their sauce is disgusting. when i had it, i cannot help spit it out. the atmosphere is ok, but it was the worst service i had in auckland. weorderedkumara chips which was disgusting either. we didn’t order any drink so they didn’t serve any water. really? because we are not kiwi? wow.

would not recommend on a saturday night as a takeaway option. was waiting there 20 minutes for my online order (past the expected completion time).orderedthe tofu burger and it was not pleasant. the tofu was a huge un-flavoured slab, about 5 cm thick and tasted uncooked and the bottom bun was all soggy. very disappointed... very overpriced for what i got.

everyone loves a good burger (and if you say you don’t, you haven’t had a good burger). you can’t go wrong with burger burger because there’s something for everyone. gluten free? gf bun. carb free? get the bunnace. yeah, you’ve got the options but you’ve also got the taste. burger burger always cooks their meat to perfection!!! the beef melts in your mouth, the chicken is tender, the lamb is just perfectooooo!

last night, iorderedthe special, ‘hot mexican’, a sexy wee thing with the perfect amount of spice, an overload of guac and yummy chicken + prawns. a bit random, hey, except it totally worked. the aged cheddar balanced all the flavours perfectly and all in all, i was one happy gal. face covered in paprika mayo but whatevz... anyway! your burger burger experience isn’t complete without a side of kumara fries & broccoli. so we threw that in for good measure.

if you’re a burger burger newbie go for ya classic beef & cheese or mini mat. if you’re a hungry hippo like me, get ‘big mat’ which is basically double everything in your ‘mini mat’ burger. bigger is better in this scenario so just ball out and get the big mat.

would rate burger burger 10/10 but unfortunately, it is slightly pricey for a burger joint (-1). zomato doesn’t let you hand out 4.5’s so we’ll round it up and give ‘em a 5 😎😘☝🏽

my first time going to burger burger and i wasn’t disappointed.

service: 9/10
we had to stand at the entrance for a little while before we were seated.
there were no dining tables available so we had to sit at the benches, but the waiter was apologetic.
a waitress kindly took our order and gave us extra time to look over the menu. she also gave us recommendations on what to get on the menu.
the food took 10 minutes to come which is a decent time to cook fresh burgers.
the workers cleared our plates after we finished and was very polite while we paid for the bill.

food: 9/10
weorderedthe eat lit burger, buchimgae, the lamb, the fish and onion rings.
the eat lit burger was juicy and tender. the fritter was crispy with a creamy and sweet filling. the gochujang was a mixture of sweet and spicy.
the buchimgae had tender pork with a salsa and jalapeños that add a kick. it was all wrapped in a soft and fluffy pancake.
the lamb had sweet and juicy beetroot that added a crunch to the lamb.
the fish had delicious fish wrapped in crispy fried batter. the lettuce was refreshing and light.
the onion rings were super crunchy and seasoned nicely with a touch of parmesan.

ambiance: 7/10
we were seated indoors at the benches which were slightly uncomfortable, especially since my stool was uneven.
it is quite dim inside but the outside is super bright and bubbly. the dark wooden furniture absorbs the light and feels quite classy.
it is super lively inside and out with friends and family happily chatting away, perfect for a hangout.
there is an open kitchen so you can watch your burger being made.
there is loud music playing to boast the livelihood.

burger burger serves variety of quality burgers at a decent price, definitely worth your time and money.

my partner and i visited burger burger for the first time on wednesday night. the fortieth and hurstmere community dining spot truly is a lovely place to sit, it was quite peaceful and pretty sitting outdoors. our server was really charismatic and helpful when recommending burgers and sides, particularly cause we’d never been there before. weorderedtwo of the chicken mcfly burgers, the jalapeño poppers, the potato skins and the fried popcorn chicken. the highlight of the food was the potato skins, i really loved them. however, the burgers disappointed. i found the chicken to be rather spicy which is something that wasn’t mentioned on the menu (for both the burger and the popcorn chicken). it was too much spice for me to really enjoy the rest of the flavour.

a really positive experience! iorderedthe chicken balad (burger as a salad) and really enjoyed it, the chicken was delicious! my only problem was that my drink was forgotten in the order however, i was out with a big group so that may have been tricky to remember... overall i really enjoyed the food and atmosphere and i will definitely go again!

iorderedpull pork burger which the taste was good but for the size / price ratio is disappointing. burger fuel is much better for value.
alsoordereda bowl of onion ring. good garlic and herb flavour but i found it very salty.
son had a beef burger kids meal. he enjoyed it. but for $12 i would expect a free drink but added a homemade lemonade is extra $5.5

burger burger is one of my favourite spots, visited the takapuna restaurant many times and i’ve never been disappointed. i usually go for the mcfly but this time iorderedthis months special, chick’n jam and i have to say it is probably my favourite on the menu, unfortunately it isn’t a permanent item. i loved how fresh the fried chicken and verges were and i loved the ranch sauce, almost reminded me of the big mac sauce. i recommend you visit burger burger asap so you can try this burger but their permanent menu is amazing too! will be back again and again as always

burger burger, you know you’ll be in for a good burger at any joint. . which is true for the branches i’ve visited in auckland!

iorderedthe mini mat which isn’t very mini but that’s a good thing! bigger the better haha, the sauce closely resembles the infamous big mac sauce from maccas but you can tell this is homemade and a lot fresher. .
kumara fries are always good as usual, complimented very well with the aioli.

staff are attentive and friendly, great food and atmosphere. . i’d definitely be back for more to satisfy my burger cravings!
