just got takeaway dinner from here tonight and wow!! burgers ✅✅ friedchicken✅✅ and the peanut butter choc thick shake ✅✅✅✅ i had the "ol smokey" burger medium with added pickles, i can't fault it. food was ready at estimated pick up time, so food was still hot when it got home :) highly recommend

i never had a chance to make it to the ponsonby or newmarket branch and had heard good things, so it filled me with anticipation when i heard they were opening in takapuna. perhaps because i had such big expectations i was left a little disappointed, whereas if i had no expectations i would of been happy enough.

first visit: i got the beef burger, 'medium rare' ($12), and added cheese for $2 extra. my friend got thechickenburger with no extras, and we shared some overpriced shoestring fries for $8 - the portion size was small considering the $8, and they tasted a little strange (i think it was the oil which i didn't like). the pricing structure of the burgers is also strange, the base prices are okay ($12) but then $2 to add lettuce or $5 to add bacon?!!

my beef burger was a let down. it says on the menu it is cooked medium rare (which i love about eating beef burgers at good burgers places in the us, but haven't found very often in nz). however there was no pink at all in mine, it was more like medium-well done. a small part of the beef was gristly, but worst of all the burger was smothered in way too much mustard/mayo/pickle sauce, which completely overpowered the beef which should be the star of the show. the $2 cheese slice was super small, almost non existent. my friend liked hischickenburger, but didn't find it amazing.

second visit: i came with a larger group and got the special - the  'mcfly'chickenburger (fried chicken, lettuce, bacon, cheese); it was awesome. the only downside was the $18 price tag, considering i could easily eat two of them. my vegetarian friend found a very obvious meat bone (we assume chicken) in his vegetarian burger! luckily he isn't the sort of guy to make a big deal out of it, some vegetarian's would go ape s**t! he complained, and it was quickly replaced, with an apology and he was not charged for his meal. he enjoyed the burger despite the initial experience and it couldn't of been handled better by the staff after he let them know. the others in my group got the lamb burger, one of them thought it was just 'okay' the other 'really good'. the potato skins we shared were a big improvement over the shoestring fries on the first visit.

i noted they have a really good beer list; lots of craft beers, which is a big plus!

all in all, good burgers without hitting the amazing level i was hoping for - the mcfly was close, the beef burger a big let down. the prices are expensive considering the size of burgers, particularly the 'extras' and some of the sides, which is the biggest reason i'm rating this so low... this place is not good value for money at all, for their prices the quality should be much higher.

loved the vibe here! busy and vibrant and their service is so good too. we all ordered the cajunchickenburger with curly + kumara fries.

okay lemme just start off with the hot sauce they give you with their kumara fries...talk about a freakin party for your tastebuds!! i'm definitely basing most of my rating just on this sauce hahaha. cannot complain with their sides at all. as for the burgers...i feel that they're a little overrated when you compare the portion sizes with what you're paying. the flavours were tasty though! food arrived in minutes and their menu has a lotta vegetarian options which is always a bonus. the taka burger burger branch is worth a visit!!

everyone loves a good burger (and if you say you don’t, you haven’t had a good burger). you can’t go wrong with burger burger because there’s something for everyone. gluten free? gf bun. carb free? get the bunnace. yeah, you’ve got the options but you’ve also got the taste. burger burger always cooks their meat to perfection!!! the beef melts in your mouth, thechickenis tender, the lamb is just perfectooooo!

last night, i ordered the special, ‘hot mexican’, a sexy wee thing with the perfect amount of spice, an overload of guac and yummychicken+ prawns. a bit random, hey, except it totally worked. the aged cheddar balanced all the flavours perfectly and all in all, i was one happy gal. face covered in paprika mayo but whatevz... anyway! your burger burger experience isn’t complete without a side of kumara fries & broccoli. so we threw that in for good measure.

if you’re a burger burger newbie go for ya classic beef & cheese or mini mat. if you’re a hungry hippo like me, get ‘big mat’ which is basically double everything in your ‘mini mat’ burger. bigger is better in this scenario so just ball out and get the big mat.

would rate burger burger 10/10 but unfortunately, it is slightly pricey for a burger joint (-1). zomato doesn’t let you hand out 4.5’s so we’ll round it up and give ‘em a 5 😎😘☝🏽

my partner and i visited burger burger for the first time on wednesday night. the fortieth and hurstmere community dining spot truly is a lovely place to sit, it was quite peaceful and pretty sitting outdoors. our server was really charismatic and helpful when recommending burgers and sides, particularly cause we’d never been there before. we ordered two of thechickenmcfly burgers, the jalapeño poppers, the potato skins and the fried popcorn chicken. the highlight of the food was the potato skins, i really loved them. however, the burgers disappointed. i found thechickento be rather spicy which is something that wasn’t mentioned on the menu (for both the burger and the popcorn chicken). it was too much spice for me to really enjoy the rest of the flavour.

a really positive experience! i ordered thechickenbalad (burger as a salad) and really enjoyed it, thechickenwas delicious! my only problem was that my drink was forgotten in the order however, i was out with a big group so that may have been tricky to remember... overall i really enjoyed the food and atmosphere and i will definitely go again!

i usually get the basicchickenburger here, thought i would try something different. not sure if it was a good or bad thing.
the sushi burger was a creative idea, it tasted good. but ultimately just tasted likechickenkatsu you get from any sushi store (but with fresher katsu). the rice bun was very creative but because it was wrapped in paper, everything got stuck so i ended up eating it likechickenon rice anyway.
the chino’schicken(also a special) was nice.
my favourite part was actually the thickshake. i got the peanut butter and chocolate one, and it was so good, will probably be my go to from now on (definitely would give it a 5 star)

overall the service here was nice, atmosphere was nice. pretty busy for a wednesday night. would recommend if you’re looking for something quick to eat.

burger burger is one of my favourite spots, visited the takapuna restaurant many times and i’ve never been disappointed. i usually go for the mcfly but this time i ordered this months special, chick’n jam and i have to say it is probably my favourite on the menu, unfortunately it isn’t a permanent item. i loved how fresh the friedchickenand verges were and i loved the ranch sauce, almost reminded me of the big mac sauce. i recommend you visit burger burger asap so you can try this burger but their permanent menu is amazing too! will be back again and again as always

the three sawmill beers (pilsner, xpa, ipa) and mini sliders are great. you get to rehydrate whilst enjoying mini versions of the fish,chickenand beef burgers! never had a bad burger from here. even an hour later, they don't go soggy.

my family and i came to 'burger burger' at the perfect time (people who got here later had to wait for space vacancy) and were promptly seated and served. all the burgers and rest of the food on the menu looked delicious and i would definitely go back to taste the other options!

we ordered 'old smokey', 'beef with cheese', 'chicken' and 'mini mat' burgers and also popcorn chicken. my 'old smokey' was absolutely mouthwatering. it smelt great, looked great and tasted great. i also had a bite (or two) of the 'beef with cheese' which was also yum! (i noticed that the 'chicken' and 'mini mat' burgers was not packed as well as 'old smokey' and 'beef with cheese' so there was a lot of sauce dripping and pieces falling out.)

the popcornchickenwas tasty and very hot (temperature-wise). the sauces complimented thechickenpieces, but i found thechickenrather salty. being nitpicky here, but it was rather dim in the area we sat at. this meant we couldn't really see what we were eating and the atmosphere wasn't as fun and lively as i felt it should've been.

recommendations: burger burger has really yum yum food, so try anything and everything!

great first experience! a friend and i called in for a quick lunch with my one year old. staff were great and set up a lobster high chair for us - which was awesome.
gave us the right time to order and food came quickly after.
i however cannot eat spicy food and thechickenhas some spice to it.
the milkshakes were delicious!
only small issue was having to wave staff down when wanting to order more drinks.

ordered their beef with cheese burger,chickenburger and curly fries and were satisfied with the meal. food came out really quick, servers were attentive and the burgers were yum. i love thechickenburger more than the beef ones tho, curly fries were good and aioli sauce was yum. would come here again for a quick meal.

we ordered online to pick up, and couldn't be happier with the food.
we ordered:
a mcflychickenburger. really good, juicy fried chicken, quality bacon, generous chew and tangy smoky bbq sauce.
a big mat. like a big mac but way better. seriously huge juicy beef patties which you can order cooked how you like, lots of cheese and special sauce. really tasty and massive.
popcorn chicken. tasty, spicy, loads of flavour.
curly fries. can't complain.
both sides came with aioli and bbq sauce. aioli was home made and lush.
not cheap, but worth it!

dined here with my partner tonight, we just wanted somewhere casual to eat & burger burger / fish fish was perfect. this place is set amongst an alley of gorgeous eateries & the decor & vibe in this place is awesome. there were plenty of staff at the door to greet & seat you. it's set up so burger burger is one side of the restaurant & fish fish is the other, you can however order off both menus on either of the restaurant. between the two menus there is an excellent variety of reasonably priced food. we ordered a little from each menu & had popcorn chicken, potato skins, market fish & a chip butty. i was so excited when i saw chip buttys on the menu it was like reliving my childhood. the bread could have been a little more fresh, aside from that i loved it. the potato skins i was a real fan of, they were perfectly cooked & well paired with the truffle aioli. my partner enjoyed his fish & i liked the fact you got too choose how it was coated. thechickenwas well cooked & had a little heat to it which i liked. they also have a really reasonable cocktail menu. i can't remember what the cocktail i ordered was called but i thoroughly enjoyed it. i would defo recommend burger burger & fish fish for casual eats & drinks.
