bru burger bar - indianapolis

fancy sauce. despite being extremely busy (though we went the weekend of the mini, not sure what i was expecting.) were defiantly heading back sometime soon. the set up is slightly strange and its awkward even trying to get a beer from the bar while your waiting for your seat, not to mention the waiting area made it appear as though you were sitting at the people on the other side of the glass' table.
however the food was really good, though the menu has been changed and is not exactly like the one online. they pair a lot of ingredients that aren't typically seen together.they had a decent selection of craft brews on draft and in bottles.

the best part was the thing my boyfriend and i liked to call "fancy sauce" its labeled as chipotle bbq but it doesn't taste quite like that. its an odd blend of what i can only assume is their homemade ketchup and smokey bbq sauce. very interesting and very good. also the "fancy ranch" is to die for....no joke i didn't even eat ranch before i tried theirs.

delicious!. with such great weather yesterday we opted to dine outside and quickly foun out they are dog friendly out there! for an appetizer we had the mac n cheese and it included shrimp and andouille sausage. the sausage was great but the shrimp seemed to be of the frozen, pre cooked kind. neither of us cared for the shrimp much. other than that, it was a great velvety cheese sauce. hubs had the vikings lamb burger with cole slaw and i had the bru burger with fries, served with their homemade ketchup and black pepper mayo, per my request. our burgers were cooked to a perfect medium and were extremely flavorful!! loved, loved the meat! after about 4 bites the hubs took of his burger, i heard him crunch on something very hard, so hard you could chip a tooth, the feta-olive relish on there and the chopped up kalamata seeds in it! big no no! so after a couple more hard crunches the hubs stopped eating it. not sure if that was a oops on their part or if that is how it's always served, but it wasn't enjoyable for him. my burger was great, couldn't ask for a better burger other than the cheese on it. the taleggio cheese was too overpowering for me. next time i'd just switch up the cheese. the bacon on my burger was fantastic! fries were great too! so we would love to return with our pooches, and try some different items!

visited bru again recently and we were impressed to hear they had decided to change up the menu already. we loved the previous menu so thankfully none of our favorites were missing. we tried their wings this time since someone from their staff raved about them to us-- very good but for us they weren't as delicious as their burgers. we also decided to try something new and got the shrimp ceviche. we got a healthy portion served with tortilla chips. it was very fresh and enjoyable but not spicy at all despite the mention of sriracha in the description. i think it could have been better seasoned with cilantro, pepper, more lemon. staff is well educated about the beer menu which is a big plus. choco milkshake was awesome ;)

best burgers in indy. always cooked to order and so incredible! all of the sides are amazing too. service is always great. highly recommend!

fantastic mother's day!. great food, great atmosphere, great local beer, great service and great outdoor patio!!! thank you for making my mother's day that much more special!! we will be back for sure!

good all around. after hearing nothing but positive things about bru, we finally found the time to give them a shot...and we weren't disappointed. all around, we had a good experience. we opted for outside seating given the perfect weather we had, but the inside looked very nice. the food was fantastic and arrived to our table much faster than i expected given how busy they were. the service itself, however, wasn't the greatest. we barely saw our waiter during the course of our meal, but i can't hold that against him too much. as i said, they were considerably busy at the time. overall, i still recommend them. another addition to the already great selection of restaurants along mass ave.

one last bit of advice, i'd avoid their house ketchup. way too watery for my taste. everything else tasted perfect, though.

ok-it’s a chain not a mom and pop joint.we did not know that until we had already started eating;mea culpa.what intriqued us about this place was the combination of beef used in their patties;sirloin,chuck and brisket.all the meat comes from a local farm,and ground and packaged locally;which is pretty cool.in either event it makes for one delicious burger.they have all the usual combos;mushroom,swiss;bbq,bacon etc.they also have a pacific rim ;a burger topped with shrimp,pineapple,guacamole and some sort of cheese. since we wanted to taste the burger pat and i picked the classic,a plain old cheeseburger;with a cold set and condiments.among their cheese offerings they have white cheddar ;rare for most burger joints but great for a mid-rare burger.which brings me to my only “complaint”.my medium rare was more medium than rare,a very minor problem,as the hunk o meat was still delicious.they make their own ketchup as well,thinner than most and sweeter as well.it’s definitely more a dipper

i love good burgers. i had seen the response of bru burger on urbanspoon and wanted to try it. this burger was something very out of the ordinary. it has never dawned on me to put shrimp on a burger. but this burger really is a perfect balance of favors. you have savory, sweet,tangy, and spicy. it is a new favorite.

amazing! my boyfriend and i stopped here on our way from new york to arizona and we're pleasantly surprised by the price and quality of the food. we each got a $7 beer flight, a salad, and we split the bourbon burger and the mexican burger. absolutely delicious. we both agreed that the bourbon was the best burger we've ever had. i wish there were more locations. i will be going back here if i'm ever in indianapolis again.

great service and outdoor seating. we stopped in bru burger bar by chance on saturday night around 7:30. we were able to be seated almost immediately on the outdoor patio section. i opted for the burger snack because i can rarely finish an entire burger, and it was a very generous "snack." the best part about the meal was the housemade sauces, ketchup with a kick, pepper mayo, and sweet and spicy barbecue. brandon was our server, and he was outstanding. we will be frequent customers!

visiting friends from town were happy. two friends from out of town late on a saturday before the indy 500 and we showed up late. i expected a little irritation from waiter but was very pleasant and attentive. turkey burger was really good as was the mass ave blt. i got the mexicali and it was one of the best burgers i've had. reminded me of my favorite burger place back home.

do we really need more mass retail family food places in the midwest?

great place really loved this place and very nice place to enjoy good meal the food is really delicious the chicken burger is really nice and the chicken is cooked really nice and the drinks are also really good and great customer services very nice place to go with family enjoy good meal.

as advertised, best burger in indy, bar none. if you haven’t been here, you have to put it on your bucket list. try the new yorker, turkey burger or the bourbon burger. if you hate waiting in line, try the in between hours. chances are, you can walk right in

went it reading some great reviews and also knowing that restaurant is rated in indy’s 25 must eat joints. ordered bru’s speciality burger and indeed it turned out to be a special one. the meat was so soft, juicy and filled with flavors. ambience superb, staff excellent, a must visit when around downtown indy.
