i had been to san diego for a conference and this place was right next to my place
ordered half n half of pesto and white ricotta pizza. the ricotta was beautiful. newyorkstyle crust the salt was on the higher side for my family but i loved it
even had a takeaway r beakfast 🐣

so what has happened to bronx pizza's crust?  i have been a big fan of bronx pizza for many years.  coming from the east coast, and growing up outside of newyorkcity, i would tell everyone who asked that bronx pizza was the closest thing you can get to a newyorkpizza in san diego.  after a visit the other day, i am afraid that i will have to find another place to recommend.

you still get the amazing assortment of pizzas by the slice and many of the toppings are delicious.  their sauces (red and white) are still wonderful.  but the crust on three different slices was flavorless cardboard.  it was under-salted, and over-worked.  the outside edge was mostly air.

this german/irish boy loves his bread, and i couldn't even eat the crust of this pizza!!

i will go back again soon to see if this was just a bad dough batch, but i think someone at bronx needs to take a trip back to the real bronx and true-up the dough recipe.

i worked at a quality pizzeria for years and i'm very picky about pizza. i heard good things about this place and newyorkstyle is my favorite type of pizza so i thought i'd give it a shot. tiny place, with a surprising amount of seating which is adorably decorated with kid-drawn pizza pictures and newyorkart. very cool! the cashier was so friendly, we chit chatted while waiting for my slice and it was a very natural and genuine conversation. and of course, the pizza: i approve! i got the margarita pizza, one of my favorites, and it was very good. not too greasy, the crust was good, fresh ingredients, was able to fold in half (because how else do you eat a ny pizza?) i'd go again for sure. to top it all off, cheap meal! my only complaint, flies but it is an open restaurant.

excellent pizza, awesome feel! this place has quite the variety of combos of true newyorkstyle pizza and a friendly newyorkstyle atmosphere. service was outstanding and the price was fair. i wish we lived in san diego so we could go here all the time!

best pizza in town. best pizza ever- its greasy and newyorkstyle :) service is fast.

ok for sd. i've been dying for a good slice of newyorkpizza, and i've decided that i'm just not going to find it in san diego. you can't imitate ny pizza, no matter how hard you try. that being said, bronx pizza did an ok job. i'm glad i found a place that doesn't put feta on their white pies at least (seriously, feta?!), but my ny craving hasn't gone away. it'll do for now though i guess!

bronx deluxe pizza slice came with pepperoni, sausage, olives, mushrooms, green peppers and onions...the newyorkstyle thin crust had the perfect light crunch to it and the pizza was cooked to perfection in a large oven. all of the toppings were fresh and very tasty too!

hands down, this is the best newyorkstyle thin crust pizza i'm san diego.

hey, watch it! i'm eatin' here!. if you want great pizza just go to bronx. the guys there serve up awesome new york-style pizza with newyorkattitude.

the joint is tiny and it's not uncommon for a line to form outside. know what you want when you get up to the register else you may find yourself suffering the wrath of no-nonsense newyorkbrusqueness.

as for the pizza, it's all good. thin crispy crust, good sauce, the right amount of cheese. order by the slice or get a whole pie. they only have one size, though - 18" (8 slices).

p.s. the white stuff on their pizza...it's ricotta, not feta.

pizza is superb. bronx pizza is the closest to newyorkstyle pizza i had ever had in west coast. the prices are high but it is good value. call in advance because some times the wait is long

awesome newyorkstyle pizza. this is the best ny style pizza in all of san diego. i used to live in tierrasanta, and everytime i got the craving for a really great newyorkpizza. i would order ahead and drive out there. it's worth the drive.
