bravo cucina italiana - des moines - jordan creek

a bit on the expensive side but so worth it. the food was amazing. the seafood was light and fresh. bread was delicious.  this is differently a place for a special night out

we visited the jordan creek area of west des moines for the first time since moving here last november. quite a few chain restaurants to choose from but we had never heard of bravo before and decided to give it a try. i have so say we were pleasantly surprised. service was very good and attentive and the food was better than expected. i really enjoyed my lobster ravioli and we definitely will be back.

great meal great service. i know..it's a chain and i am not fond of chains, but we had. $15 off coupon that was expiring so we went there. food was good...normal for a chain. but service was great. our server (whose name escapes me but was new, and a 2013 roosevelt grad) was nice enough to suggest that my husband might want the smaller size of lasagna. he was attentive and friendly but not overly so. beers are pricy but a bottle of wine was ok and corkage fee is reasonable.

bad experience. my husband and i were celebrating my "no more skin cancer" doctor visit earlier in the day with a celebratory lunch. we have always enjoyed lunch at bravo, but today was not enjoyable at all. the greeting at the front was sweet and genuine and we were swiftly seated outside, after that...no such luck. it took approx 15 minutes to receive one small soup and one small salad and then about 10-15 minutes later my husband went inside to ask where our 1/2 sandwiches were...they were in the window waiting to be brought out. he asked that they be brought to us and they were. i'm guessing who was a manager came by the table and apologized, she was super sweet, and didn't charge us for lunch. when the server came by we mentioned how 3 other tables that were seated after us were done eating and that is when things got interesting. he talked back to my husband and myself with a very sarcastic tone calling my husband "sir" several times (unkindly) telling him he could look at the time when all of the tickets were checked in at the kitchen if he wanted, telling us that all food come out of different areas of the kitchen (we shared a cold sandwich), and also that our sandwich hadn't been sitting in the window (which i believe), but i have never been talked to like this in the restaurant setting, ever! i couldn't even eat the rest of my 1/2 sandwich because i was so stunned, shocked, and upset. the hostess and manager were so great...server...not so much. lunch of 1/2 sandwich and soup....took over 45 minutes.

pretty decent. this is a chain, so i've adjusted my expectations accordingly.

menu had a decent variety that you'd expect in a chain. i opted for a bravo chopped salad and grilled salmon. both were tasty.

i'd go back if i were back in the area and was wanting italian.

awesome food, friendly service. my husband and i went there on a whim about 2 years ago, ever since that first visit, it has been our favorite spot for delicious and filling italian food! the restaurant allows you to bring your own wine, and does not charge a corking fee, so that is a great bonus! we like to go there for special events and bring our own wine. this ensures that we get to have a bottle of our favorite wine, and it saves us the money of purchasing drinks at the restaurant. overall, great restaurant with awesome food, friendly service, and wonderful view outside.

wonderful experience. two of us went there later in the evening during the week and everything went so well that it actually surprised us. the food was excellent and i can't remember when i have had such friendly service...the host that seated us, the server, and a nice young man that brought out our meal.....all were very nice. i don't find this to be true much any more. the manager of this restaurant must be creating a good work atmosphere. we coudn't have been happier.

food may have been ok, but the service was so poor i was irritated before the salads we served. too bad, as the decor and the menu showed a lot of promise.

this place was reallly talked up however i was disappointed. the bread was dry and bland. i was there at lunch and ordered a dish from the daily specials, it was on the bland side as well, the grilled chicken was the best part. it was basically a pile of pasta with a small handful of veggies, an equally small handful of reallly good chicken and way under dressed which is what made it bland.the service was excellent even though the place was packed. a note on the bread, i was told it was better than macaroni grill, not even close. if i'm going to pay for over priced italian food i'd just as soon go there, i've never been disappointed.

poorly managed. we ate here on our way through town, and we were sorely disappointed. the food was nothing special and over-priced. we had a bruschetta that was covered in what seemed to be a mushroom gravy. not exactly the fresh food you are expecting when you order bruschetta. the service was lackluster (no water refills), the front entry had trash on the floor and table, and the staff seemed less than concerned. we ate a late lunch, so it wasn't very busy and everyone seemed to be on break. when i used the restroom, there was trash all over the floor and it needed restocking - kind of annoying when you exit the restroom and walk through a group of employees sitting at one of the tables relaxing. the overall impression was that the restaurant was suffering from really bad management. gordon ramsey would have a field day at this place!

worst meal in west des moines. ordered the roasted chicken special and it arrived looking cooked, but dry and ice cold. manager arrived to apologize and explain how they don't microwave food. impossible! should have just apologized. will not go back.

ugg. worse than olive garden.

disappointed. my friends and i used to come here quite a bit for their $2.95 appetizers and we would bring our own wine, however, we don't come as often because they changed their rules and now they have a $10 corking fee, so it isn't really worth it anymore. also, the food isn't bad and the service is normally pretty decent but the last time we came we had to wait about 25 minutes before anyone came to our table, when we mentioned it they said they knew and then they basically argued over who was going to take our table... in front of us! talk about inappropriate and bad service. who knows if we'll ever come back here.

consistent italian. bravo is comparable to biaggi's or macaroni grill, but tends to be a bit better than those on food quality and service.
the daily specials are generally good, but limited to certain times of day. not many seafood choices on the regular menu.
very nice place, especially for being located near a mall.
