hidden hideaway. i can imagine the workers swilling here or the footy crowds of the last century drinking here, filling the bar and beer garden.
now, a local, a gem, hard to find, around from the newry, once near the old by gone fenwyck and not too far from the fitzroy arms etc.
parking is ok, interior is your normal inner city pub, gas log fire, small beer garden, comfortable seating for meals and friendly un fussed and attentive service.
the beer on tap is crisp and cold and the atmosphere is relaxing. i went one night and they were filming an episode of offspring so went the next for a meal.
look, the food is nothing to write home about , nor is it anything to complain about.
if one wants an atmosphere as described and is in the area with friends, do not hesitate to drop in. good value meals, i had the steak and it was ok, not great, but good.
but again, it is unpretentious and traditional, clean and tidy, nooks and crannies do get lost in and does not pretend to be a upmarket pub, you get what you pay for here, with great beer and service, and a fondness as you leave with a full belly, looking forward to coming again in the winter!!!
